Seems like blown caps is pretty common for smart switches... Im using those smartlife box smart switch which I installed in my T8 lighting. At first I threw away a couple but later I open up and seems like the caps for wifi always blown after a year or so. Upgraded the caps from 10v to 16v and it has been working fine since. I just dont understand why they dont use higher voltage caps. They must have known it would cause problem.

Those are very leceh yea sometimes you wont have enough space in the box to fit that, or fit multiple, and if for some reason you need to reset it ....pain in the ass larh open up everything again.

Dear all Sifus, I am currently embarking on my first smart home planning for my new house.. and needed advise..

The initial plan was to go all out with Aqara as can work with Homekit as my family is on Apple ecosystem.

But as I am doing the sourcing and budgetting, I found tha the price of the switches are like 2x more expensive than Tuya switches...

I am currently looking to implement:

1. Full smart switches (including aircond and heater switches) for surface light, track light and fan.
2. Smartdoor lock (I am living in a dual key condo, as such I need 2 wooden door lock + 1 Grill)
3. CCTV for the front door and also living room
4. Motion detection for midnight light
5. Humidity and temperature sensor

I did a few research and ready about matter integration between Aqara , Tuya and Homekit... does it work? Say if I mix

1. Tuya switches + Aqara Switches
2. Aqara Hub
3. Aqara presense sensor
4. Tuya Smartdoor lock
5. Tuya curtain
6. Sensibo / IR hub for Aircond & Fan

What you meant is as long as I have an Aqara Hub + Tuya Matter Hub (eg: Zenismart), then I can control all Tuya devices via Aqara App and/or HomeKit? Is there any limitation ? As in the things that I want to do (ie: open door. switch on light if its after 730pm, if toilet humidity above x% then turn on exhaust)

Hi all, my Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen just died on me. After checking with seller from Shopee, they only provide 3 month's warranty from date of purchase, but checking directly with Google, device is still under warranty, but cannot claim RMA from them since they don't ship to MY. Any electronics repair shop in Klang Valley able to repair IoT and smart gadget devices? Went to Digital Mall PJ this morning but all of them don't do smart devices repair, mostly Macbooks and Apple stuffs only. Any leads as to where I can bring this to be repaired is greatly appreciated.

Yeah, it seems that I have to resort to using forwarder service from SG to MY, since Google US can only send to SG as the nearest point. Any ideas how much is roughly the cost for using this forwarder service? Do I have to apply for SIRIM beforehand as well?

I have super newbie questions 🙇‍♂️ would like to ask:

1) Are smart switches able to wire for 2 way, specifically smart switch for water heater? One of the smart switch vendors I spoke to suggested that I use app scene/automation function to mimic 2 way switch function instead, I'm not sure if this is recommended...

2) From my understanding, most smart switches are not compatible with DC fans. Would like to ask anyone's experience, do IR/RF blasters work well with remote controlled KDK fans?

I understand Aqara devices are recommended. However, could anyone please recommend some Tuya/HA compatible Smart wall switches & sockets? Ideally really affordable ones and reliable. Trying to keep every under Home Assistant. Pondering to get the HA Green setup. Links & advice appreciated. Thanks
