1st thing u must know what types of work/tasks you want to do, if you want to edit 4k movie, graphic work (heavily), gaming heavily, i suggest you go for 13 rmbp

for me, i only do on productivity task such as ms office work (word, excel, ppt), emailing with more than 10k mail, surfing, manage my 10gb file mostly document in pdf and ms office inside my dropbox and i think base model 12 macbook with 1.1ghz , 8gb ram, 256gb flash drive done very well on all my task

and i love very much this butterfly keyboard mechanism... my typing speed increase so much

i have the mid-2015 powerhaus 15-inch MBP with the discreet graphic card now already. so it can handle some of my task like running VMs etc. what i regretted is not getting the 13-inch MBP instead as it is quite a powerhaus already with much cheaper price and a lot more portable than 15-inch MBP. if it is not due to this, I probably will just stick to 1 x 13-inch MBP as it has the balance of all.

so I am looking for a portable machine to bring around home and office on daily basis. so the retina macbook is definitely a good choice. thumbup.gif

i think 13 and 12 macbook have a different group of user, for me i mostly like 12 macbook, light, super thin, portable, gorgeous design with gold colour, fan less, superb speaker for tinny laptop,  quietly processor, a day battery, can put ur macbook at ur lap almost 4-5 hours without feel hot

i think one option for retina macbook purchase is to wait till the 2nd gen and get the refurbished one which it helps to save a bit. of course this depends on the things of upgrade for 2nd gen to justify if it is worth it to save the bucks for refurbished older model.

if compare 12' macbook with 15' rmbp, the 1st thing u will realise is weight and screen of retina display. But 15' mostly is performance laptop with quad core processor

both retina display, so actually comparable given that the PPI is around the same. 226 vs 220. just 15-inch is bigger screen so more screen real estate.

Hi guys, I quite new to Apple environment (but already own an iPad). Want to ask, whether it is a good time to buy a macbook? Just for programming , surfing and light editing purpose. Which model should I go?

if u need it now, it is a good time. if you think u want it now, you probably want to wait.

macbook pro, air and macbook should be upgrade in Q1 2016 as most speculate.

i am waiting to get the 2nd gen of macbook too.

I don't think ringgit will drop fall drastically in short time.

How about getting second hand Macbook? It is okey?

if price is a concern, getting 2nd hand one is another option also.

best is to wait till new macbook 2nd gen is out you can even consider to buy refurbished to save a bit, refurbished will looks new as the new one too.

but of course, it is always to get the latest version to take advantage of all the updated spec.

Macbook Air 11" Mid 2013 (around 2.1k) vs 13" Early 2014 (around 2.8k), which do you think is better? The price different around RM700. hmm.gif
