Considered once to get a MacBook when Apple just announced. Until now still not done so yet. And now the price hiked. Regretted...
Anyway, my MBP 2011 still working, a bit slow though...
I think I will wait till next generation...
Please do update us about your experiences.

Anyone here considering/considered Hub+? Seems awesome...

your situation mostly same with me, plan to buy this new macbook in April this year but i hold on becoz cannot decide to go with base model or configure up to 1.3 processor only, then choices of colour gold or space gray, should go for pro or not until last month when apple rise prices for all mac, i just bought base model gold colour with old price. So far so good, serve all my need and very satisfied

Do you often use flash player/browse websites with many flash plugins? How do they perform?

no pt to get now liao. likely early next year will have refresh of spec, or maybe apple will add more ports (for example one more usb-c?, adding 720p camera instead).

I will get the 2nd gen too immediately when it is out.
*
Yalo... But adding another ports is a little unlikely. Unless it sacrifices its thinness.
Upgrading its camera is more likely.

Perhaps they could expand the use of audio jack port as another mode of data transfer? Just like the old 3rd gen iPod shuffle..

ur MBP is 4GB ram? i think that could be the reason, if upgrade to 8GB at least i think it will help quite a lot. But the slow traditional SATA hardisk could be the bottleneck too.

for the new PCIe SSD, the speed is superb.
*
I've already upgraded to 8GB when I first bought this MBP. It was EOL product when I bought and Switch upgraded the ram for free as promotion.
1 year later I upgraded the hard drive to SSD as there was some issue. The system (Mountain Lion) hangs/restarted itself.
After the upgrade, the problem solved, but the system didn't get too smooth until Yosemite.
Now I'm using El Capitan, I'm quite happy with this version. I just can't use the continuity and most of the other new features after Yosemite.

adding one more port is totally possible.

macbook air has experienced the same.

from first gen, 1 x usb port and 1 x micro-DVI port to now 2 x usb port, 1 x thunderbot, 1 x SD card slot. Apple from little add back to now acceptable level.
*
MBA is now 1.7cm thick; MacBook is 1.3cm thick. Based on the design, I don't find any possible space to put in another one in the near future, unless Apple is willing to sacrisfice its design or battery...
Another reason that I don't think 2nd port will be added is that MacBook is designed based on portability. Would you plug in many devices when you are outside? I don't.
I do think there is a possibility of upgrading battery life and audio jack as future data transfer port as per 3rd gen iPod Shuffle. The idea was brilliant!

if 8gb and ssd, how come slow? it should be quite smooth with these two things in place.
*
Not sure why. It wasn't like this earlier until Marvericks. Compatibility issue with SSD, perhaps?
Anyway, everything gets better after Yosemite.

i think we can only wait till next year to see how apple will upgrade the macbook.  Apple has never failed to give people surprises on all their products such as how macbook beats the all the while thinnest macbook air to become the thinnest macbook now. icon_rolleyes.gif

To me personally, it will definitely be good to have extra ports that come in handy.  thumbup.gif

but no matter how, i will sure go for the 2nd gen macbook when it launches to compliment my 15-inch MBP. I need a portable machine to carry around.
*
I guess so...
MacBook is definitely a good portable device among the Macs. But it is now too expensive to begin with as a base product.

yes, price is indeed steep, if next year there is significant upgrade in performance, battery life and graphic or other suprise on this new MacBook. I will be glad to pay for it.  tongue.gif
*
I'm not as greedy as you are.
I just hope upgrade in performance.
I'm quite satisfied with the battery life as what this MacBook has currently

Can't really compare two different line of Macs.
They serve different purposes and different targeted consumer groups.

try ask harvey norman what different their extended warranty compare with applecare
*
The main difference is with applecare, you still can send back to Apple anywhere worldwide. With harvey norman's you have to send back to Malaysia's harvey norman for the second and third year.
This only applies to Mac, not iPhone or iPad.

Seriously does Harvey Norman repairs MacBook? If not it means that they will just replace a new MacBook (latest version) if there is problem with your laptop after first year?
*
Will need to check with your warranty terms and conditions...

Costing the same as a rMBP 13" is overpriced for stripped down specs + less raw materials due to smaller footprint. Charging more due to R&D doesn't really cut it since some of the R&D is spread out to all models. And there is nothing ground breaking which is solely exclusive in the rMB either.
The high price is mainly due to the luxury branding & aesthetics.
*
Whether a product is overpriced or not, it is very subjective. It all depends on the users' satisfaction.
To you portability might not be relevant, but to others who need to travel here and there, it makes difference.
Overall apple products are all overpriced based on your point.

I was comparing the cost of hardware/materials, not the cost of a person's perception of value. Hence why i mentioned the high price is due to branding and aesthetics.
*
Based on your flow of thought, no Apple products is not overpriced...
In some aspect, you are right.
Ans usually people who have the same thought as yours will choose non-Apple products, e.g. Acer, Asus, Lenovo etc.
