wow is it ? I'm not much of car guy but thought m2's one quite good already. Able to corner at 130km/h at some highway, quite stable at 120km/h in heavy rain.
So far my complaint was gear change around 55-60km/h, sometimes took 5 seconds for it to upshift, really frustrating when uphill or overtaking.
*
If on highway - yeah..since the bends aren't tight..

The stock tyres are great in the wet..it's skinny thus cutting water easily..PLUS many thread lines which improves water dispersion..

Well..it's my own preference to get better dry tyres since I don't drive fast in the wet..max about 100kmh..avg about 90kmh laugh.gif

I have yet to test out how's the tyres in dry..but I had some "sneak peek" during my first 1k..I think it could do better laugh.gif

I'm a prospective buyer looking for a new car, budget circa RM80K+

I have test drive the Mazda2, and wow oh wow, what a great, great car this is. The engine performance is beyond my expectation.

This car's performance totally blows Cerato K3 and Elantra out of the water. (Both C segments with pricing RM80K ++). I haven't test drive the Honda City V Spec yet, but I have already fell in love with Mazda2's handling, speed, power and sleek design.

However, i have a few questions. I will be using this car for heavy travel duty (Highway mostly, week-in week-out) , and I'm concern with long term reliability.

Any of the Mazda2 owners here can share their experience with long term driving for this car? What are the common defects that are usually found with this car?
What about the spare parts? Are they affordable or very expensive?

Oh and one last thing, the resale value for this car isn't that great from what I heard. I totally have no idea why seeing the performance of this car is far superior than majority of the B segments out there.
*
I haven't travel long term since my car is about 2 weeks only

But within this 2 weeks I've driven down to Malacca twice already and no issues so far (granted it's a 2 week old car)

I think common issue is the knocking sounds (which I have yet to encounter)..since it's under warranty there shouldn't any charge for parts

It depends how you definite expensive? In comparison to local cars, definitely higher cost..in comparison to same segment imported cars..about the same I guess?

Resale value for Mazda cars isn't well because Mazda do not throw price..this somewhat cause a chain reaction because when no (big) discounts are given..not much buyers..hence less Mazda cars on the road = lower resale value

But for me I have never consider resale value for a car I really want..because I know it'll serve me well for many years to come..

If you really insist on resale value...stick to T and H

Hey bro, thanks for the detailed reply. Yes upon thinking, I will be getting a car for long term usage, and hence, resale value isn't that much of a concern to me.

Just spoken to T and H salesmen, and they brought up a valid concern, which is spare parts availability, pricing and Foreman knowledge about fixing a car. I agree with them that T and H have the advantages due to economy of scale (more common, more spare parts, more mechanics and foremen knows inside out of T and H cars, hence cheaper and less riskier maintenance in case of breakdown).

I'm just wondering about the parts availability of Mazda throughout everywhere. This is another big factor to consider because I will be committing to a car long term (easily 6-8 years)
*
Yup..very valid point (rarely I see T&H salesman respond that way, from my experience la)..

If you're in Klang Valley should be okay I guess? The common parts is easier to get incomparison to rare items (ie seats etc)

QUOTE(sabbathbreaker @ Sep 15 2016, 02:15 PM)
maintenance wise, after the 3 years free servicing, you need to fork out 200+ for the minor servicing and above 1k for the major servicing, put this in your consideration as well.
*
Still decent..my Neo normal service is about 180+..and major service about 1.2k+

it is a bit funny though.. its not like our m2 is import in from japan... instead i understand it is fully from thailand...so how does increasing YEN affect the car price?
dont tell me the CKD part cost from japan to thai is charge to the final cost as well..? hmm.gif
pretty mess up if like tat , no thanks to our great mighty premier.... sweat.gif
*
What I understand from my SA (after the cut on my seat issue) was that there are still parts sent from Japan to Thai to assemble..we just have to look into (if we really want to and if we can?) what parts are manufactured in Thai and what's from Japan

The PJ Federal Highway one gives better test drive due to a better location and road. Old Klang Road not nice to drive

Which road they use to test the car? Glenmarie quite nice..can test the S-bends in front of BMW showroom and the small bypass road towards the Glenmarie Golf Club

hi madman,you driving M2 skyactiv?
To tap the rpm signal u need to access the ecu which is behind the battery.Very tricky. Why dont u just tap the ignition coil signal.
I mostly do performance modification on Mazda skyactiv's car ecu tuning also.
U can pm me or find me here.hihi https://www.facebook.com/SSEngineeringtuning/
*
Thanks! You think you can help install it for me? I don't need any performance tuning (for now laugh.gif)

Yes can install, pm me on the shift light module.I would suggest avoiding any wire cut and tap at the moment for 12V power source.
Fusable link might be a better option which tap the power directly using fuse alike socket.(which i also have)

PM sent xD

Guys..have you guys have any issue of the Mazda Connect restarting while you're driving?

My first encounter so far was recently..was driving and listening to BT music when it just went dead silent..then screen went off and then rebooted with the Mazda Logo..took almost a minute+ before it loaded fully into the menus

Too much manual labour to off it every time  tongue.gif  (Saw someone put paper there to make the button stuck pressing down tho)

Hahaha..I'm quite used to it now already xD

Yeah..saw that also..placing a paper piece xD How's the car so far? So far so good? XD

Called up the sales person, he advised me to go Glenmarie SC to do something like "recharging" the battery to settle this problem.
I went to kepong SC instead since it is nearer for me, that guy said have to change battery.
Now in dilemma either to change the battery or to settle the problem at Glenmarie. Since the change of battery can be claimed only once during the 3 years warranty period right? If "recharging" at Glenmarie can settle this issue, at least i can delay the changing of battery at later years.

Yea? Got such thing? Didn't know laugh.gif

Yeah so far no issue found, just added some paint chip here and there and deep scratches at bottom of front bumper  laugh.gif  scratched curb at those spiral parking entrance in Subang haha .. really very tight, took my eyes off to see time on MZD screen thn kena ady  laugh.gif

*
OUCCHHHHHHH..I had a scratch under the front lip also..thankfully underneath..was at Fraser..they recently tar the road and where I parked was slightly lower..moved up slowwwwlyyy..but still kena =s
