Enjoying your car so far?

wow is it ? I'm not much of car guy but thought m2's one quite good already. Able to corner at 130km/h at some highway, quite stable at 120km/h in heavy rain.
So far my complaint was gear change around 55-60km/h, sometimes took 5 seconds for it to upshift, really frustrating when uphill or overtaking.

Remember that we have TCS now, do remember to turn that off before further testing     

If you swap for better tire soon, do share back your experience. I was testing and driving quite fast for few weeks but toned down now, Malaysia road cant really enjoy 

I'm a prospective buyer looking for a new car, budget circa RM80K+

I have test drive the Mazda2, and wow oh wow, what a great, great car this is. The engine performance is beyond my expectation.

This car's performance totally blows Cerato K3 and Elantra out of the water. (Both C segments with pricing RM80K ++). I haven't test drive the Honda City V Spec yet, but I have already fell in love with Mazda2's handling, speed, power and sleek design.

However, i have a few questions. I will be using this car for heavy travel duty (Highway mostly, week-in week-out) , and I'm concern with long term reliability.

Any of the Mazda2 owners here can share their experience with long term driving for this car? What are the common defects that are usually found with this car?
What about the spare parts? Are they affordable or very expensive?

Oh and one last thing, the resale value for this car isn't that great from what I heard. I totally have no idea why seeing the performance of this car is far superior than majority of the B segments out there.

Hey bro, thanks for the detailed reply. Yes upon thinking, I will be getting a car for long term usage, and hence, resale value isn't that much of a concern to me.

Just spoken to T and H salesmen, and they brought up a valid concern, which is spare parts availability, pricing and Foreman knowledge about fixing a car. I agree with them that T and H have the advantages due to economy of scale (more common, more spare parts, more mechanics and foremen knows inside out of T and H cars, hence cheaper and less riskier maintenance in case of breakdown).

I'm just wondering about the parts availability of Mazda throughout everywhere. This is another big factor to consider because I will be committing to a car long term (easily 6-8 years)

maintenance wise, after the 3 years free servicing, you need to fork out 200+ for the minor servicing and above 1k for the major servicing, put this in your consideration as well.

it is a bit funny though.. its not like our m2 is import in from japan... instead i understand it is fully from thailand...so how does increasing YEN affect the car price?
dont tell me the CKD part cost from japan to thai is charge to the final cost as well..?

The PJ Federal Highway one gives better test drive due to a better location and road. Old Klang Road not nice to drive

Oh true also , glenmarie road i really good, go for a test over there. 97k price really bit high.

Has anyone installed an RPM shift-light yet? I've got one from my previous car..need to know the tapping/installation point for the following:

Grounding Point/Bolt
Tacho Reading via coil on plug or ECU (instruction from the product manual)
12V Power

hi madman,you driving M2 skyactiv?
To tap the rpm signal u need to access the ecu which is behind the battery.Very tricky.Why dont u just tap the ignition coil signal.
I mostly do performance modification on Mazda skyactiv's car ecu tuning also.

Yes can install, pm me on the shift light module.I would suggest avoiding any wire cut and tap at the moment for 12V power source.
Fusable link might be a better option which tap the power directly using fuse alike socket.(which i also have)

Happened to me once ( 10 months old car ), BT connection gone. I stop the car at R&R then stop car and start again, still same, so I listen to USB stick ( lucky got backup else need to listen FM radio ).
Next day, it's back to normal.

happen to me twice or 3 times. once the OS stop and not restarted. others restart by itself. it only the MZD OS problem. you need to restart it if the OS hang. it either  restart the car or...

hold main + nav + back button for 10 sec if i not mistaken.

Something wrong with the istop system on my car today. Istop system malfunction warning pop out from the screen and istop light keep on blinking. Anyone face this issue before?

I used to do that too, but after a while I just leave it on, can decide at any moment if I want it or not    (Switch to 'N' or step harder on brake)

Too much manual labour to off it every time    (Saw someone put paper there to make the button stuck pressing down tho)

Called up the sales person, he advised me to go Glenmarie SC to do something like "recharging" the battery to settle this problem.
I went to kepong SC instead since it is nearer for me, that guy said have to change battery.
Now in dilemma either to change the battery or to settle the problem at Glenmarie. Since the change of battery can be claimed only once during the 3 years warranty period right? If "recharging" at Glenmarie can settle this issue, at least i can delay the changing of battery at later years.

Yeah so far no issue found, just added some paint chip here and there and deep scratches at bottom of front bumper    scratched curb at those spiral parking entrance in Subang haha .. really very tight, took my eyes off to see time on MZD screen thn kena ady 
I'm guessing re-charging the battery sounds like a very short term solution hv to get input from otai here.
