I didn't say illegear cheap lar sleep.gif Please don't simply judge me.
What I mean is better get 970m ma, since you're buying the laptop for gaming. Ram won't matter much now though. CPU not so big deal cause not a lot of game is not using CPU intensely. (I just know BF4 64 man maps is cpu intense)
Got new AW which you can get 970m with that price, even though no MXM and support up to 16gb ram only.

P/S: I seldom suggest ppl illegear already you know. It looks like it's not the only option for good price spec ratio already.

Well I agree. 4720 and 4900 has big gap, but is it necessary ? 780m and 970m price different is also 1k+, not to mention about MXM type will be even more expensive.
It depends on your standard of valuable. Manufacturer is trying to obsolete MXM from the market so they feels than soldered unit got more "sales" value. I feel it is valuable because there are very limited unit in the market.
I just feel that may be there is better option, which the penny spent is worth every cent without having something which is too overpowered but not necessary.
Sorry lar if I did or sound offending to you sweat.gif

Hi DeDeL213,

Your sweetspot for an 8k gaming notebook would be the GT72 2QD from MSI.

MSI GT72 2QD Dominator Pro @RM7,699
Intel i7-4720HQ
Nvidia 970M 3GB GDDR5
1TB (SATA) 7200RPM with option to add on 4 SSD for SuperRaid configuration

Screen size is 17'3in and can output to 3 monitors.

Happy Shopping! rclxm9.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

since u know the manufacturer purpose of kicking out mxm then u should know y mxm high price lo....someone told me the mxm n soldered mobo manufacturing price is almost half... no wonder they so eager to kick out mxm...

780m > 970m i think no point... wif the extreme processor... mind as well safe money n straight 980m... waiting e_mc_square to quote me the 980m...

to be honest.. do u really need the latest gpu... my fren just built a new rig wif sli 980... 2 weeks later titan X come out... u cannot chase IT stuffs... get wat u need if budget enough...

the aw17 i7-4900mq not really new not really old.. yes the gtx 780m is almost 2years (end of 2013) but still work for most games... this unit may not be ur best bang of penny becoz not gtx 970m... but is definitely underpriced

Well yea. That's why I afraid there is a time when MXM is completely out of the market. Then you gonna waste your money as you won't be getting any supposed upgrade option already.
I am leaning toward better gpu than extreme cpu, not both. I will go for gtx970m because I would like to play Far Cry 4, Witcher 3, StarCitizen etc etc on high settings and 1080p.

You also said there is no point in getting latest spec, why getting extreme cpu when it is not even needed ? at least GPU can helps you to play high demanding game on a good settings, while extreme cpu hardly will benefit. (it can benefit on some games, but comparing it with gpu, a better gpu brings more benefit than cpu itself)

Your friend built 980 sli most probably is because he want to game on 4k. If not he is just damn rich. Single 980 is sufficient for almost all game in 1080p. The reason to go for high end is because it will definitely last you long enough to play almost all games in high settings 1080p or above. CPU is essential of course, but not as important when compared to gpu in term of gaming.

I just feel that, from my point of view, if it is given the same price of both old and new gpu, I will go for the new one. Especially the new one generate lesser heat and draw lesser power.

Edit : Maybe the reason it is underpriced is because the initial base price is already overpriced ? haha (I'm joking.. don't take it too serious smile.gif)

See. This is the world we're living in. Those who don't know how to unlock HDD can manage to get 980 SLI rig. Those who know and needed the rig can't even get a single 980. haha

800 series is not as hot as previous series. At least for maxwell variant. Kepler is hotter. So I can assume 780m is hotter than 860m. But you can't really compare a high end gpu (at least at that time) with a budget one. Of course high end one will generate more heat sweat.gif

I think it is the user fault lar. How to max out a quad core processor with excel file ? I didn't heard of it before. I heard of insufficient of RAM due to too large data size but not this. If it is related to the excel/data file size, most probably is he/she didn't do normalization lo, just dump everything into the file sure will encounter issue when the file become big.

excel have a very small hard cap on number of data and people would be using a MS_Access or actually a database instead of excel for such data what more a MNC company (which would have service solutions)...
don't simply sprout stuff just to sell your product =.="

i rest my case.
any1 who ever handled large data, what more MNCs would know to never ever use Excel (no IT solutions in their sane mind would ever recommend it).
no point arguing with someone who do not even know the existence of a hard cap in excel doh.gif

file IO uses the disc much more than the processor (close to 0 processor usage), so there is ur answer.
in excel, the processor only comes in during calculations.
