alright thanks. i've been a lot of recommendation of this laptop.what do you think of asus GL552JX?

Preferred Brand: Any
Budget: 3-4k
Usage: assignments, watching movies, photoshop, no gaming
Preferred screen size: 15", if no choice will accept 14"
Other: preferably SSHD with Full HD. Better if comes with optical drive or detachable back cover for easy dust cleaning or thermal pasting. weight not a problem coz I dun carry it around much.

My current 7yo COMPAQ has been to hell twice and now having constant high fevers and heart attacks >__<

Lenovo Z51 seems to fit the bill but I found one (and only) review on youtube saying the screen sucks. =/

Need opinion here...

1. Brand: Prefer Dell or Lenovo or asus as long as it can last long for this price range

2. Budget: around rm2.5k (Willing to pay more IF it can last longer, at least 4 years), MAX 3k

3. Usage: Mostly Uni Engineering course: AutoCAD (probably only 2D drafting), web browsing, assignments, Presentations, movies, A BIT games: The Sims 3, dota 2

4. Preferred
  Screen Size: Only 14", I guess only HD for my budget, no touch screen
  Last at least 4 years... (Hopefully)

Q: 1. is i5 processor enough for me?
    2. Do I need 8gb RAM? or 6gb is enuf?
    3. ORI Windows 8.1? or go for DOS and install OEM version windows (save money)
    4. I shud go for full spec 14 5000 or 14 7000 i5? since only use for uni...

So far, On my list:
1. Dell Inspiron 14 5000 series,
2. Dell Inspiron 14 7000 series,
3. Lenovo Z50-70 also not bad... Lenovo cheaper at higher specs, Build quality ok?

How dare you insult HP ENVY!!!!
It is ok, the only problem is the cooling system.    , full load 99 celcius.   
All in all it is good. Though HP eff up the bios setting. 

Well, got two types of envy, One is the u model i7 and the hq/mq i7 so you get the picture. 
No joke. lol, 99 celcius.

Lenovo is one of the top notebook international brand owned by IBM; it is nooo ayam brand...    2-year lenovo warranty(?) is there if you got any issue...

If you want asus, I think G551JM-DM052H is ok...

no.. not like dat.. they only sold PC business (thinkpad).. cz they are losing money more than making money.. as investment for R&D is increase, so.. they feel, they better sell it to lenovo, at that time.. lenovo not so famous.. but after dat.. its getting reputation.. i think they sell it in 2004 or 2005..  dat time i crazy with satelite notebook build by IBM
