Hi guys,

I need some recommendations on buying new laptop. I'm using it for work purpose (programming and rendering). No game.

Budget between 3.5K to 4.5K.

Here are the requirements

1) An ultrabook/ thin/ light/ notebook. So that it is light and easy to carry around.
2) A powerful CPU like i5 or i7. Core M is NO.
3) 8GB RAM, if can self upgrade I can do that.
4) MUST SSD.
5) 13.3" is enough. I got external monitor to get my work done.
6) HD like Retina
7) No need Graphics Card. No need CD Room.
8) No preference in brand, but not MacBook.

then you prefer 14"?  hmm.gif  but heat management is much better in 15" + illegear have good  product reliability..  gaming produce heat a lot...  and play a lot latest game gtx960m gddr5 have advantage here.

unless you wan consider Asus G551JW and lenovo y50 apart from Illegear. 14" only have gtx950m ddr3.. just for mid-end gaming.

unless you wanna spend up to 7k to get Alienware 14"  sweat.gif

Then I guess I prefer 14", sorry whistling.gif Hp's Omen would be great for me if it had a 960M instead of a 860M. Is there something similar to the Omen that fits my criterias?

Thanks notworthy.gif

Hello guys smile.gif I'm trying to buy a good gaming laptop to replace my old Alienware M15x model from 2010 - hopefully, cheaper than an AW this time though.

1. Preferred Brand
I don't have a particular preference for a brand. I don't like Acer though.

2. Budget
RM5500.

3. Usage
I'll mainly be playing MOBAs like League of Legends but I also like to play other more intensive games such as the Assassin's Creed series. I'd like a good gaming laptop as I plan to hopefully, use the laptop for 4 years or so. Therefore, I'd like it to be future proof and can handle games that come out in the future as well.

4. Preferred laptop/screen size
15" please.

Preferred specs:
At least 960m, preferably 965m or better although I understand that any higher will most likely not fit into my budget.
4th gen i7 - 5th gen would be preferred.
8GB RAM.
SSD is not a must.
A good 1080p display is all I need in terms of display - don't need 4k displays.

The laptop should also have good cooling - preferably dual vents and dual fans.

Since I'm an international student who would likely be moving after finishing my degree, I'd like the brand to have good support service/accessible service centers. I have considered Illegear but I don't know whether Gigabyte/Sager service centers abroad will accept Illegear notebooks.

Other notebooks I have considered include the MSI GE62 2QE and the Asus G551JW.

Please feel free to recommend any and all gaming laptops that fit these requirements. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you smile.gif

the only different is 15" vs 14"

dell have better warranty and service after sales. while asus kinda bad service after sales.. compare to those 2... i'm not sure if new price for latest 7447 with gtx950m or not. but that rog 552 have gtx950m... which is newer version of gtx850m on dell. but performance jz slightly improve.. not much different.

try check the review too..

15" is good with heat disperse.. not much cramp inside. laugh.gif

but with that budget
