Thanks for your suggestion! Appreciate it! The pixi only very short right? Is there any pixi as tall as tripod?
Frank

Nope. Yes it's short and you may refer here http://www.manfrotto.com/collection/8374.5...072172.0.0/Pixi
Tall I would suggest get befree if you really oversea, because light always the first.

True, but not every model has the support for remote control, so have to be careful haha  laugh.gif
Well, the 50mm F1.8 (equivalent to 75mm on APS-C sensors) isn't called the portrait lens for nothing. But then whether to get one or not really depends on your budget and skills.
For starters, maybe it will be better to stick to the 16-50 kitlens first hmm.gif  Most people only opt for the 35/50mm F1.8 as the 2nd lens, after becoming more experienced at shooting  icon_rolleyes.gif

Update: The zooming ability will allow you to work better in tight spaces too- very important for self-shots. Yeah, the zoom lens is better in this case- more versatile
*
A5100 sure have remote control rclxms.gif

Ya i will try use the kitlens first, then only consider to get other lens such as macro or those F1.8 lens...

Still need some times to train my skills then i will know which lens fit me well. blush.gif

Anyway, many thanks to your advises!

Also depends on your requirement of the photo. my friend previously wanted to shoot his own prewedding himself. with lighting and hair and makeup... after an hour he called me to come assist ... he was tired of running about and checking the exposures. mirrorless + wifi is the way to go to make it easy. Thats why I'm thinking of switching to mirrorless .. since two years .. lol still THINKING stage.

but this is definitely a good idea. Im going to try do this too, been a while since I bring out my beat up dSLR to play... always behind the camera, never in front ...

best of luck Frank3

One more tip for you, becareful where u set your camera, as someone might just suddenly jump out and grab your camera and run since it is far from you.

So i suggest you get one of those al cheapo digitr38 or something like that tripod(the ones that everyone has when buying new camera), wide angle lens, a dslr with tilting/flipping screen. Put near near you and compose from there. can keep camera within 1m distance and can adjust adjust instantly and can do many artistic shots. but since it is wide angle there will be distortion at the side if it is too near. So pandai pandai lah tangkap angle

Currently i found there are two challenges of self taken pre wedding photoshoot:

1) Attire (gown/dress/suit):

Self shooting: We have to rent/buy the gown, suit and other accessories such as flowers by yourself.
Studio services: They will provide you these stuffs.

2) Make up (hair/face):

Self shooting: We have to make up by ourselves, or go to beauty/hair shop before shooting.
Studio services: They will provide these services for us before/during shooting.

I guess if your shooting is more than 1 day u may need to buy one than rent one.
Cos usually they rent it daily basics, eventually a big cost

we are lucky cos our friend rent us one, so one more choice.

and another thing may shoot during weekdays than weekend....else too many pppl...photobombing haha

But its always cheaper to do all of this yourself laugh.gif
For dress and suit, you can easily buy them for cheaps via Taobao, loads of choices summore laugh.gif

As for makeup, I'm very sure you all have a friend or two who are good at it thumbup.gif
The makeup doesn't have to be extraordinary; but some makeup is always better than none haha thumbup.gif and it will show up in the resulting photo

Very good point, those who wanted to shoot at Sekinchan on the previous Labour Day weekend will surely be disappointed... never expected the crowds to be that massive! rclxub.gif
