Interesting approach.. only one suggestion.. get a wireless not IR remote which requires a direct line of sight and also use the delay trigger option.. It will hopefully cut down the obvious and awkward hand trigger position and body language..

Im planning to get mirrorless camera such as Sony A5100 with tripod, then use SMART REMOTE CONTROL (SONY PLAYMEMORIES) on Iphone to view and shot (Timer 10 sec) my desire photograph. icon_rolleyes.gif

Just keep in mind that you will get photo with you holding the phone' somehow or your hand gesture / body language cannot disguise the action.. unless you deliberately want it in the photo or can dispose it within the 10 seconds (which is plenty of time).. These were issues I faced when using remote and being self critical of my shots, it became annoying after some time.

Have fun, I am sure you will find a way to work around.

Thanks man for your kind words  notworthy.gif
I'm sure the shot would be better if taken by another person haha

Hoho, dedicated selfie camera brows.gif Can use also ma if you want laugh.gif

Perhaps you can take a look at the Sony A5100, should fit your shooting style. Iinm, it can also be used to take shots using your handphone  thumbup.gif

Get A6000. I've never use it before, but a lot of people are praising it for it's auto focus and specs.

I shot this using camera's built in timer and tripod, I don't have a remote, but I will try to get a remote next time I want to do this. Had to run back and forth to set camera and check image, it's tiring.

First, I like your portait photo! I love to shot close portrait (shallow depth of field) and environmental portrait. Need your professional suggest on lens.

Yes, with remote apps we may skip those tiring run back and setting camera, and just set the timer to hide our phone! rclxms.gif

A6000 is very near A5100 only different is A6000 have viewfinder and higher ISO as i survey at internet. icon_idea.gif

Both the a5100 and a6000 allows you to wirelessly take photos using your smartphone ("Sony Smart Remote Control" App) right? hmm.gif
You can adjust where to focus (this one is the trickiest part using the "conventional method", especially for solo shots), and even all the other camera settings too- extremely convenient. Just need to think of where to hide the phone laugh.gif

[I don't have a Sony, but I have a Fujifilm that allows remote control through smartphone as well, should be similar]

I have a dream, which is to travel all around world with my love one!
Of course i will bring along my camera to take down those moment as our memories.
Thus, this inspired me to have a idea, which is to take pre-wedding photo/couple photo(not selfie/wefie) at every place/country that we travelling, i wish to take it by myself (not possible to hire a professional photographer to follow me to travel around the world to take those photo sweat.gif )

Now i am looking a lot of pre wedding photo/couple photo to get the idea of how to take it and the solution is to bring Tripod and take the photo by myself.

Hi all the LOWYAT professional, any guidance/tips/suggestion/comment to my idea?
Thanks!

Frank

I think every brand have their remote control apps, like Canon, Nikon...
For portrait photography, which lens is best? Normal prime? Wide angle? With or without zoom is better?
Thanks!

True, but not every model has the support for remote control, so have to be careful haha laugh.gif
Well, the 50mm F1.8 (equivalent to 75mm on APS-C sensors) isn't called the portrait lens for nothing. But then whether to get one or not really depends on your budget and skills.
For starters, maybe it will be better to stick to the 16-50 kitlens first hmm.gif Most people only opt for the 35/50mm F1.8 as the 2nd lens, after becoming more experienced at shooting icon_rolleyes.gif

Update: The zooming ability will allow you to work better in tight spaces too- very important for self-shots. Yeah, the zoom lens is better in this case- more versatile

I think the photograph idea is the most important, then camera setting and camera quality.

Thanks for your suggestion! Appreciate it! The pixi only very short right? Is there any pixi as tall as tripod?
