I have a dream, which is to travel all around world with my love one!
Of course i will bring along my camera to take down those moment as our memories.
Thus, this inspired me to have a idea, which is to take pre-wedding photo/couple photo(not selfie/wefie) at every place/country that we travelling, i wish to take it by myself (not possible to hire a professional photographer to follow me to travel around the world to take those photo sweat.gif )

Now i am looking a lot of pre wedding photo/couple photo to get the idea of how to take it and the solution is to bring Tripod and take the photo by myself.

Hi all the LOWYAT professional, any guidance/tips/suggestion/comment to my idea?
Thanks!

Frank

Not really sure what you are asking here laugh.gif
It is possible to take shots like these although they will probably not be as easy or as nice as those taken by another photographer laugh.gif

Most DSLR or mirrorless cameras come with WiFi capabilities nowadays, so it should be fairly easy for you to adjust your settings using your phone without having need to set-timer-and-run-back-and-forth: You will be able to focus more on the poses/lighting/background etc. instead laugh.gif
A mini tripod will be good to have since it is often difficult to find supports of the right height to put your camera  hmm.gif

Otherwise just invest in a selfie stick, but then the resulting photos will look very similar to one another laugh.gif

Thanks PF T.J! notworthy.gif
Your suggestion is exactly what i planned! I dontlike to take selfie photo, i wish take those picture with nature poses with both hands free instead of holding camera or selfie stick biggrin.gif icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

I just want to hear the feedback/suggestion from forum whether have any better idea to take good couple photo/pre-wedding photo by themselves instead of hire third person to take the photo. Especially travel photo. Eg: I wish to take couple photo/pre wedding photo in front of Paris Eiffel Tower, that is not possible to hire a photographer from Malaysia and go to Paris to do this (Costly), so i decide to done by myself ( of coz bring along great/awesome attire for pre-wedding photo like suit/dress), currently i think the only way is setup a tripod and using self timer/remote shutter. hmm.gif

Thanks in advance!

Rather than just taking photos, you should do a videolog as well.

I highly recommend caseynetistat YouTube channel. Simple equipments but really interesting videos !

Thanks LegendLee! OK! rclxms.gif Will subscribe it and learning about how to record a good video! Thanks again for suggestion!..

I know what you mean man haha thumbup.gif
I like to take these type of shots as well during my trips, cause sometimes I feel a bit embarrassed to ask people to take for us, and sometimes there are no people to ask at all  cry.gif

I used to shoot using self-timer and remote shutter; both are quite challenging.
With self timer you will sweat really easily since you need to run around, and your expression and poses will surely be affected. Remote shutter is slightly easier but you still need your partner to pose first to set up AF- still need to run around

Here's a shot I took using timer and continuous shooting since I only have one chance in this lifetime to get it right laugh.gif:-

These type of shots will likely be of the same style- landscape. More artistic shots (upclosed, tilted etc.) will require a lot more time and effort  cry.gif

Recent DSLR and mirrorless cameras allow you to adjust settings and AF using your smartphone- very convenient. The only trouble is that you need to find a place to hide your phone! laugh.gif
Face detection makes things alot easier too, worth trying out too  thumbup.gif
*
First of all, your photo is very nice! rclxm9.gif This is exactly what i desire for my photo but i hope to include more artistic shots too drool.gif ! The only pity is i dont have a DSLR camera, currently using CASIO ZR1500 (Because my girl like this, you know the feature geh! brows.gif ) , this camera still ok (Still come with manual exposure, aperture priority(f3-f7.9), shutter priority(15-1/2000)) but i will buy a DSLR to take better shot! Any suggestions? Budget RM2k around. Better with 180 degree screen cuz sometimes need to selfie! Thanks a lot, PF T.J!! notworthy.gif

I'm sure the shot would be better if taken by another person haha

Hoho, dedicated selfie camera brows.gif Can use also ma if you want laugh.gif

Perhaps you can take a look at the Sony A5100, should fit your shooting style. Iinm, it can also be used to take shots using your handphone  thumbup.gif

Thanks for your suggestion bro! Will try to use my ZR1500 to take some day landscape, night landscape and some artistic photo with tripod during these coming week. Will post here for you guys to check what should improve (Test my skill, im newbie photographer)! Going to middle east on Sunday, business trip 2 weeks rclxms.gif

Interesting approach.. only one suggestion.. get a wireless not IR remote which requires a direct line of sight and also use the delay trigger option.. It will hopefully cut down the obvious and awkward hand trigger position and body language..

Im planning to get mirrorless camera such as Sony A5100 with tripod, then use SMART REMOTE CONTROL (SONY PLAYMEMORIES) on Iphone to view and shot (Timer 10 sec) my desire photograph. icon_rolleyes.gif

Get A6000. I've never use it before, but a lot of people are praising it for it's auto focus and specs.

I shot this using camera's built in timer and tripod, I don't have a remote, but I will try to get a remote next time I want to do this. Had to run back and forth to set camera and check image, it's tiring.

First, I like your portait photo! I love to shot close portrait (shallow depth of field) and environmental portrait. Need your professional suggest on lens.
notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
Yes, with remote apps we may skip those tiring run back and setting camera, and just set the timer to hide our phone! rclxms.gif

A6000 is very near A5100 only different is A6000 have viewfinder and higher ISO as i survey at internet. icon_idea.gif

Both the a5100 and a6000 allows you to wirelessly take photos using your smartphone ("Sony Smart Remote Control" App) right?  hmm.gif
You can adjust where to focus (this one is the trickiest part, especially for solo shots), and even all the other camera settings too- extremely convenient. Just need to think of where to hide the phone  laugh.gif

[I don't have a Sony, but I have a Fujifilm that allows remote control through smartphone as well, should be similar]
*
I think every brand have their remote control apps, like Canon, Nikon...
For portrait photography, which lens is best? Normal prime? Wide angle? With or without zoom is better?
Thanks!

I think the photograph idea is the most important, then camera setting and camera quality.

True, but not every model has the support for remote control, so have to be careful haha  laugh.gif
Well, the 50mm F1.8 (equivalent to 75mm on APS-C sensors) isn't called the portrait lens for nothing. But then whether to get one or not really depends on your budget and skills.
For starters, maybe it will be better to stick to the 16-50 kitlens first hmm.gif  Most people only opt for the 35/50mm F1.8 as the 2nd lens, after becoming more experienced at shooting  icon_rolleyes.gif

Update: The zooming ability will allow you to work better in tight spaces too- very important for self-shots. Yeah, the zoom lens is better in this case- more versatile
*
A5100 sure have remote control rclxms.gif

Ya i will try use the kitlens first, then only consider to get other lens such as macro or those F1.8 lens...

Still need some times to train my skills then i will know which lens fit me well. blush.gif

Anyway, many thanks to your advises!

Nope. Yes it's short and you may refer here http://www.manfrotto.com/collection/8374.5...072172.0.0/Pixi
Tall I would suggest get befree if you really oversea, because light always the first.

Also depends on your requirement of the photo. my friend previously wanted to shoot his own prewedding himself. with lighting and hair and makeup... after an hour he called me to come assist ... he was tired of running about and checking the exposures. mirrorless + wifi is the way to go to make it easy. Thats why I'm thinking of switching to mirrorless .. since two years .. lol still THINKING stage.

but this is definitely a good idea. Im going to try do this too, been a while since I bring out my beat up dSLR to play... always behind the camera, never in front ...

best of luck Frank3

Hi Gerald7,

First of all, thank you! wink.gif
Waaa, your friend is trying to complete his prewedding photo within one day? shocking.gif shocking.gif
I think i will take 3-4 years to take in different country biggrin.gif biggrin.gif tongue.gif , each trip try to get 5-10 best photo add into my collection. Then after 5 trips i will have 50-100 pre wedding photo with different environment and outfit rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif
The hard part is i need to bring those outfit cloth such as suit & gown to oversea...or maybe can rent over there nod.gif nod.gif
