Guys, this happened to my tai hao double shot abs. The keys are misaligned with some keys closer to each other and some keys further away from each other.

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ May 8 2015, 02:01 AM) Take out the keycaps you want to adjust the size, then, use a hair dryer(make sure is hot enough) to heat up the keycaps for a while. Then, quickly, adjust the size of the keycaps while the keycaps are still hot and soft. I used this solution to fix my bent PBT Spacebar Keycap. It seems TaiHao quality is very bad... I am using Keycool's. All seems to be OK for me. First time hearing this. Hmm, will consider doing that since now I can't really get over it once I saw the keys are misaligned. There's a risk there tho.. I'm afraid that I might not be able to reshape it properly and caused it to be deformed badly.. |

QUOTE(0168257061 @ May 8 2015, 07:43 AM) take out both keycaps and measure edge-to-edge, both of them, see if theres any difference. Okay, I've measured it edge to edge, it seems like the thickness is the same size. So I'm guessing that the problem is the stem is misaligned.most probably keyboard design flaw..topkek I've even replace it with my stock keycaps and there's no problem. So definitely its not keyboard design problem. QUOTE(joonwei23 @ May 8 2015, 08:59 AM) Yea, I think it's misaligned problem. And I noticed that the left side of the cap is slightly thicker than the right side of the caps.QUOTE(justnits @ May 8 2015, 09:50 AM) while i agree with darksilver that the hairdryer trick works on PBT spacebar, but i don't encourage to use that trick on ABS keycaps. Using ducky g2 pro, Pushed it very deep but it's still the same. think it's misalignment problem.PBT and ABS are different material and both have different heat tolerance level, PBT have very high tolerance whereas ABS has lower. your ABS key will melt faster and you might end up with insta smooth surface or deformed key if you are not careful. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « SOS from /r/mk what keyboard are you using? try pushing the keycaps deep? maybe it doesn't sit in properly. Yea, i saw the thread from reddit too. don't think I will risk it, guess I will just live with it. QUOTE(ntw @ May 8 2015, 11:45 AM) not just taihao, even Signature Plastics!! Guess next time really have to look at the quality. :/» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « However I think this is mainly just a problem with a certain batch as the other taihao sets that I see on the internet doesn't have this problem. :/ QUOTE(quovadis123 @ May 8 2015, 11:47 AM) Yea, stock keycaps doesn't have this issue but it's too thin and the laser-etching filled legend worn off. |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ May 11 2015, 01:56 PM) Thin PBT is OK given the price is that low. Hey, any cherry mx board at that price is cheap. I bought mine at Rm199 tho. Iinm, Czone is also selling the g2pro below RM200.Just bought a Ducky 9087G2Pro TKL MX Black from them just now... LOL. RM 189, quite cheap, I think? Yea, I might buy it without hesitant if I don't have any other keycaps other than stock keycaps. Btw, the ducky premier yellow with thick pbt caps at RM299 seems like a steal! https://www.facebook.com/cyntrixtech/photos...8654368/?type=1 This post has been edited by ck.chunkeat: May 11 2015, 02:31 PM |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ May 21 2015, 06:29 PM) 1 – Click the Start orb. Thanks, that was what I found out after some googling, but is there any other method? such as some simple software/program?2 – Type Device Manager into the Search box. As soon as you start typing you should see a series of search results pop up. Click on Device Manager. 3 – Find Keyboards in the list of devices and click the arrow to expand it. 4 – Right-click on the internal keyboard and click Disable. If there is no Disable option listed, click Uninstall. 5 – Click File>Exit. Your laptop’s internal keyboard should now be disabled. |

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ May 21 2015, 07:17 PM) QUOTE(kaiserreich @ May 22 2015, 01:14 AM) Can write a script to automate the disable they keyboard in device manager. But need some time to figure out. After that you can AHK and activate the script everytime you want to change it. QUOTE(quovadis123 @ May 22 2015, 01:04 PM) Keymap your keyboard certain combination or hotkeys to disable the internal keyboard via devcon command line (batch script). Thanks, reason I ask is that I remember seeing some where that there is a simple software for macbook which disables the laptop keyboard. I'm just asking whether is there such thing for pc since I'm not too sure whether is it available. Guess there's no otherway than to disable the keyboard through device manager either manually or through script. It's will be time consuming. The psedocode of the automation script: - Run of interval 1 min(depends on your needs; avoid realtime) to detect whether have the "external" keyboard ID connected - Trigger disable internal keyboard when detected, else exit - Need validation if the internal keyboard already disabled, and continue do nothing when ext keyboard connected - Upon ext keyboard disconnected, the script run to enable the internal keyboard again. Guess, manual script still the easier, and time worth spending. |

QUOTE(Patent @ Jun 3 2015, 11:09 PM) So I just got home to try the tai hao doubleshot pbt I bought from groupbuy. That's one of the cons of taihao stuff. I have the taihao abs and I even applied a small amount of lube on the stems before putting the caps on cause it was very stuff and I was worried that something like this might happen. Everything seems fine but the spacebar seems a bit off.. its too tight to fit in and when I try to pull out.. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This happened. So now I'm trying to figure out how to put it back. Any help guys? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I think there are two ways to deal with this. First way, desolder the switch to open up and reseat the stem. Second way, risky. Slam it back in by force. ( But I highly doubt you can put it back it that way. |

Blank PBT cherry profile keycaps anyone? Since it's from gateron, I'd assume that it will be cheaper if we get it through taobao, right? This post has been edited by ck.chunkeat: Jun 7 2015, 11:56 PM |

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « So apparently this sheet of plastic which was suppose to make cherry mx keyboard to be waterproof can make cherry linear switches feel like topre boards. http://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboard...oard_feel_more/ This post has been edited by ck.chunkeat: Jun 16 2015, 09:13 AM |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Jun 16 2015, 09:19 AM) Interesting mod. Unfortunately, the ts claims that it can only be salvaged from another board.Just very heavy Topre feel of 80-100g. However, still not convince by it, since only the TS said is similar. Need more tester. Think this is unreliable source, how close is it to topre? We don't know for sure unless few people with topre boards compare it side by side and backs his claim. |

QUOTE(cloud8992 @ Jun 16 2015, 05:54 PM) Interesting I saw a China keyboard company came up with their own switches(knock off switches) and a sheet of rubber and advertise their keyboard waterproof. Similar concept http://m.intl.taobao.com/detail/detail.htm...&id=38623653515 I agree that the concept is similar. Now, to wait for people to test it out. :3 |
