I'm wearing Indonesian Oud by Ermenegildo Zegna. Loves Vetiver by the same house, more subtle and refined than the Guerlain's.

Nice Zegna you have... I do have a bottle of Sicilian mandarin. While for best vetiver. Personally highly go for Creed Original Vetiver & Tom Ford Grey Vetiver. Where vetiver perfectly executed wink.gif
*
I've sampled Creed Original Vetiver, but I don't notice anything vetiver in it at all. Will try it again once I got the chance. smile.gif

Now I'm thinking of getting L'instant De Guerlain. Managed to get Creed Aventus for RM7xx from Isetan rclxms.gif

Perhaps you going to try it out again. On both ur skin and on the paper strips,As it gives a diff appraoch.Hope the scent works well on you.
Other than the 2 vetiver scent i mention. I do frequently abuse on my D&G Light Blue Discover Vulcano,is a nice vetiver with the blast of Amalfi Lemon & Ginger.
A compliment gather as the scent projects very well.

I think you can skip the  L'instant De Guerlain if you are looking at (EDT) version and not the Extreme (EDP) version. Even thou both are no longer the elixir scent as before.
As they reformulate the scent. If can get the Vintage bottle,Don't hesitate to grab one if the price tag fits you. As is extremely hard to get nowadays.
Good luck in your hunt. There's some buddies here still own a bottle of vintage version ( LIDGE ).

You can try get a small decant to sample it out wink.gif
*
I didn't know that LIDGE has a vintage version, thanks! I own the vintage version of Guerlain Vetiver though. My favorite for now is still Zegna's Indonesian Oud. My wife doesn't like it, she prefers me wearing L'Eau d'Issey Pour Homme (ugh, smells like cheap wash disher).

I kinda regret with Aventus. 'veI tried it in Tokyo for the first time, it was spring and smells heavenly. Now back home when I got a hold of it, somehow I feel it smells too generic.

Guerlain Vetiver is one of the reference vetiver scents out there. Exquisite taste there my friend. Tried it a few years ago but didn't like it (together with Grey Vetiver). Although vetiver is not my favorite note, I do enjoy wearing Sycomore/Encre Noir, Vetiver 46 and Eau Sauvage Parfum. Onda, TdH and Vetiver Dance are just okay to my nose.

SOTD: Midnight in Paris (EdP)

Thanks for the article. Didn't know that Terre d’Hermes contains vetiver.

If you ask me, I don't care about my wife preference. I just wear whatever I love  tongue.gif
As what been discussed with Marver earlier, the reformulation LIDGE come with the clearer bottle now.
The vintage is one with the darker bottle.
I've the bottle. If u want to sampling, I can decant for you  thumbup.gif
As for the Aventus, the RM7xx is for 75ml or 120ml?
If for 120ml, it's a very good deal bro.
Why suddenly not enjoy the Aventus? I believe it might relate with the batch itself (smoky batch or fruity batch)
*
It's the 75ml version. Will contact you for the decant. I see, the great batch difference again. I'm getting some Aventus vials from some of the forum-er to compare, and we'll see how it goes.

I went to Parkson to sample Acqua Di Parma Colonia Oud. Didn't like it, it's too rosy. Next on the list is L'Artisan Parfumeur Al Oudh biggrin.gif

Amouage is well-known for its quality frankincense but there isn't much frankincense in Epic Man. Try Jubilation instead. For best frankincense/incense guide, check out :-
- http://perfumeposse.com/2012/11/26/frankin...ense-fragrances

Note that frankincense and incense are used interchangeably in that guide. Incense Extreme by Tauer is my favorite frankincense while Sahara Noir by Tom Ford is my new favorite of Church incense followed by Incense Avignon by CdG.

Thank you, will check them out.

It turns out that I LOVE Creed Royal Oud (despite the non-existence oud), but it hardly last on my skin. Two hours max, and it's gone. I have to re-apply during lunch time, I'd exhaust my 30ml samples soon. Aventus lasts longer.

I decided to get a full 125ml bottle of Zegna Indonesian Oud yesterday from Ethusis and it's gonna be my signature scent for now. It lasts like forever even after I take shower.

I made a blind purchase of Zegna's Mediterranean Neroli today. It's a new addition to the Zegna's Essenze line.

Hahaha.. Thanks bro for ur compliment... You have a lots nice collection too. Eg : By Kilian, TF and Amouage too.
Just diff preference on the brand and scent..
For the Rose Oud base fragrance you line-up here really impressive scent from L'occitant, I did try out at their branch. And yes,Is full-bottle worthy.
Same goes to me,I wouldn't pick this up in my collection as i have a few Rose & Oud Base such as ; Aramis Calligraphy Rose,TF Ndn,Dior Oud Ispahan and few more to list. But this the one i adore so so much..

As we all know,Is a OUD trend,And there's more and more desginer fragrance comes out in oud combi scent.
Just do some sniffing and you know which oud is your own preference...
And here i would highlight smth.. Gucci Oud is the best ever subtil and smoothest oud base fragrance, That suits both mens & ladies.
I went to try out Gucci Oud today after reading your post. rclxms.gif
Nice and very smooth light rose, I prefer darker rose oud like Zegna's. Tempted to buy but I already own Indonesian Oud.

I kinda regret my blind purchase Mediterranean Neroli, anyone looking for a swap, let me know.

Among the line up,The most prefer scent for me will be Italian Bergamot, Indonesian Oud & Haitian Vetiver.
*
My favorite is Indonesian Oud, Haitian Vetiver, and Javanese Patchouli. The least is Mediterranean Neroli.

QUOTE(edwardleong @ Dec 5 2015, 12:42 PM)
Solid line, italian bergamotte is modern acqua di parma colonia, florentine iris is a beautiful play on iris, imo way better than the lipstick waxy iris of dior homme, sicilian mandrin is my fav of this line.
*
Florentine Iris is nice, it's a unisex fragrance which I think lean slightly more to the feminine side. The entire line has this common similar scent, which to my un-train nose I can't really pin-point it. It has some sort of airy feelings, which is nice.

SOTD: Went out to sample Sahraa Oud, by Fragrance Du Bois. RM2500+ for 50ml. They claimed to use "100% organic vintage oud oil." I definitely love it.

I'm going to sample all of Xerjoff Stars this Monday and probably going to end up purchasing one. Stay tuned rclxms.gif

Unfortunately, I did not buy any Xerjoff today. I wanted try Zafar, and ready to purchase if I like it. They don't have a tester bottle to try. Too expensive to blind buy.

QUOTE(edwardleong @ Dec 14 2015, 06:50 PM)
Fulamak... big boss!! But Xerjoff here quite cheap compare to hk. Nio going for 780 wtf... daylight robbery. And oud star 960

Me too so damn close and tempted to grab both lira and mamluk on Saturday when me and gf were doing Christmas shopping at Gardens at fragrance du bois fair. They are going to have a permanent counter inside Robinson jor...

My gf gave me a dun play with me eyes stare and threaten to throw my other bottles if i whack these 2 beautiful gourmand.

Fragrance du bois they have their own oud farm even though they can give 25% discount still way over the limit for me to spend on one single bottle somemore their oud are quite medicinal depending on ur taste.
*
The crown jewel of the Oud Stars collection, Zafar going for RM900 after discount. Good deal?

I love medicinal oud, it gives the fragrances its 3rd dimension feels. I've narrow down two Fragrance Du Bois that I like:

1) Oud Orange Intense - Smooth Vanilla + Oud. There's nothing 'orange' about it. Gourmand, and oud. Very strong silage and longevity.
2) Oud Noir Intense - Spices, medicinal oud, musk, flowery (jasmine, and very light rose).

Agree, it's too expensive. Even if it's a real Oud, but we're talking about cultivated, planted oud. Not the well aged oud.

But err I end-up purchasing something biggrin.gif

This thread is too fast for me to keep up. Humblest apologies for not replying. Congrats on the Xerjoff purchase. My office is in Midvalley / The Garden, imagine how hard it is to stop buying new fragrances every now and then. I walk passed luxury items, promotional roadshow on daily basis. Fragrance Du Bois is now at Robinson. Yeah the serum pen is probably not worth to get. No alcohol means bad projection, generally. But if you want to buy Oud Noir, there's 15ml travel version of it which cost RM400.

I should keep myself away from this thread now biggrin.gif

Yep, and I got one of the serum pen. Have you ever smell Xerjoff Oud Stars Zafar? How would you rate it?

That one is truly an horror movie to begin with even u sniff out the sprayer, the smell haunts you for more than 1 day.

Till now i still remember it during my HK trip

Xerjoff decided to portrait the barnyard, fecal, animalistic characteristic of their oud. hence i am not a fan of their oud line

the stank, the fecal note, the barnyard animalic... so so so traumatic for me and my gf, tat whole day that note lingers in my nostril contaminate anything i smell

how i rate it?

as long as i am sane, i will not wear that on my suit, later client complaint wtf ur staff no bath for how many days edi and run away, any potential deal pun dah jadi habuk
*
LOL great, thank you. Sounds like a definite non blind-buy material.

Going to sample Dior Leather Oud & Oud Ispahan tomorrow at Pavillion tomorrow (and watch Star Wars tongue.gif).

QUOTE(t0n3 @ Dec 19 2015, 06:18 PM)
Blind buying is like gamble. Cool Water is easily available at major department stores, which you can go for free testing.

My SOTD is Eau Sauvage by Dior.
*
I really don't get Cool Water. It smells super duper syntactic, like you've just immense yourself in highly chlorinated swimming pool.

If you have the chance to smell fragrances with raw natural ingredients, do not miss it. I mean, real musk (from deer gland), real aged oud (not syntactic, nor planted oud). I had the chance to experience high quality frankincense and incense used to perfume ancient shrines, Persian palaces, and mosques when i was Iran. It's out of this world. I asked locals where can I buy such fragrances. He simply said I wouldn't be able to afford it.

When I was in Dubai, on the other hand, was completely filled with the usual stuff. tongue.gif

So today I went to Isetan KLCC, to try out Leather Oud and Oud Ispahan. Leather oud smells like a toned down well-behaved YSL Kouros without the flowery note. It smells like old wardrobe, with a dozen of cats sleeping in it. I'd probably love it if they throw in some medicinal notes to compliment the dry civet. The rose in Oud Ispahan (Ispahan as in Isfahan? I've been to the city) smells like a heavy saffron rather than rose. Pleasing, but the oud is too mild.

Did not purchase anything. (Except a book, at Kinokuniya lol).
