Yes, I have tried Sicilian Mandarin but it's not to my liking, as you mentioned, it's a bit on the light side. My preference is more on the Indonesian Oud sort of sillage, am I wrong to use that word? Don't quite fancy the "orangy" smell of it too, & perhaps that's why I never liked Terre D'Hermes even though its mightily popular.

You guys really have exquisite taste in fragrances, such rarities for scents used.

Not a fan of citrus fragrances myself smile.gif

SOTD: Oud Matak (aged) by Arabian Oud. Fruity, stinking oud. I can't find any description on the internet, I bet this is Cambodian oud.

a.k.a Aventus fruity's batch biggrin.gif

Where did you buy it and how much?

QUOTE(marver @ Feb 14 2016, 12:37 PM)
Damn rare item you have there bro.. I Can sense how potent this Oud Matak smells..  hmm.gif

Sweet rotten fruit, almost like something from Xerjoff. I'm not so sure if it's rare, especially it's Cambodian. In middle east, even real oud chips can be easily bought still.

How do you folks come into terms that, a bottle of your perfume can cost as much as a nice flat screen TV? More expensive than gold? My Zegna collection alone could pay for a nice holiday in Amsterdam? I can't. I should consider quitting this hobby sweat.gif

I guess it depends on whether you're materialistic or practical person. For me, high-end designers should be <RM400, mainstream niche<RM500 and anything >RM500 is considered luxury niche to me. I would spend anywhere between RM500 to RM800 on a perfume if I really love it and it is rare/unique. Having said that, even though it is an expensive hobby, you can take it slowly and buy within your budget.

True. One of the thing I learn from this hobby is not to be caught up in a hype train...

Can't imagine bro Zegna entire collection can treat for a europe trip...
You must be damn rich bro..
Share with all fellow Lowyat fraghead bro full package Zegna family portrait (Full Bttl & Luxury Box packaging). I believe this can give everyone a heartbeat pulse and excitment to show off their collection too.  Like Basenotes.. they snap a beautiful pic of their collection  nod.gif

If I'm rich, I wouldn't be saying that biggrin.gif Besides, I have many testers. As for Amouage though, owning them all feels like I need a second mortgage. Tester bottle doesn't seem to exist. rclxm9.gif

Yeah, don't worry about walking out of the door empty handed. I always does that. My experience with them had been pleasant so far, be it local or overseas retail stores.

I probably would go semi-retired mode after one last FB haul. Thinking to get either Knize Ten, Cuir Cannage or Mona di Orio Cuir. I have not been wearing any perfume for the past one week as my wife has just given birth to a baby boy. I don't wanna wear any scent near my precious.

Congrats bro! rclxms.gif

Trying out new scent...

I'm a big fans for ambergris.. And here i tasted ADP creation..
A big chunk of NATURAL ambergris mixed with musk...while strong hold of the scent backboned backed by aromatic salty sea notes.. Absolutely amazing scent...
Opening scent a bit resemble to Dior Sauvage which get tonned down a lot.. While the scent settling down in a warm ambergris which brings out a flora notes in it...  Guess is the sweet ambergris making the scent develop into giving a flora touch.

SOTD : ACQUA DI PARMA COLONIA AMBRA

That's very nice. Natural ambergris, like for real? Wonder how much is the full retail bottle?

MdO Cuir is the latest addition to my humble collection. I also got more free samples than I asked for and for those who wants to know, as expected (>RM500), it was inspected by Kastam and Farmasi as there were Kastam tapes and Farmasi chop on my box. Fortunately, they let it through and didn't rip my box apart like last time.
Congrats. Very foreign name to me smile.gif

Loves Amouage. I have been planning to get Jubilation XXV but for the retail price, I can buy a nice hindi oud oil/spray which I adore so much.

Today am wearing Ghroob, a perfume oil from Arabian Oud. The bottle itself is encased in this somewhat "gothic" or "arabesque" metal casing. A floral oriental smell with Oud which opens with orange blossom. Kafkaesque did a review of this 2 years ago...

Kafkaesque review of Kalemat made me purchased it, no regrets! I'm waiting for them to re-stock Kalemat Amber (oil version).
Got to try Ghroob, but my wish list from Arabian Oud is the Blue Oud (RM800+)

That's cool, Where did you get it, KLCC? Went there a couple of months ago, they don't have Kalemat Amber in stock. So I only have Kalemat.

Edit: Right, saw you bought it from eBay. rclxms.gif

Purchased Amouage Jubilation XXV today. Tried the 'vintage' version at the store, couldn't notice the difference. Granted, it was just a quick sniff. It's nice to buy retail at brick and mortar shop, with some samples thrown in.

Thanks! I know, I was here to check if @izam7 still wanna let his bottle go, but you grabbed it first! Haha.

I do not have a bottle of any Amouage yet but have enough of the sample vials to last me a looong time :-)...and my fav of the lot is Interlude followed by Jubilation and Epic. These are really powerful juices especially Interlude which projects like a nuclear bomb ( in a good way ) hehe.
Cool stuff.

Amouge has got to be one of my fav. house. Nuclear bomb indeed. I had my colleague complain today.

Really love my Amouage Opus VI sample. It's next on my list!

QUOTE(whitey87 @ Nov 24 2016, 11:15 PM)
Am not an expert but I have a few of so called clones that you might wanna checkout :

1. La Yuqawam by Rasasi = Tom Ford Tuscan Leather. This is a real gem IMO....very2 similar and to me the opening is nicer c/w TL
2. Afnan Supremacy Silver = Creed Aventus ( the fruity version )  cool2.gif BUT it does not last as long as Aventus
3. Armaf Tres Nuit = Creed Green Irish Tweed. A slightly softer and abit more floral IMO
4. Al-Wisam Day by Rasasi = Creed Silver Mountain Water. Used to have a bottle of this and they both smell very2 similar

Surely there are lots more that you will get your nose on so enjoy the trip and happy shopping hehe.
*
Out of those I've only sampled Afnan Supremacy. Sure enough, very very similar with Creed Aventus!

Al Salat Al Oud. My sister bought this attar for me when she was in Dubai. Small bottle, the attar itself is even smaller. It's oud + jasmine.

The bottle is a stunner isn't it? How does it smell on you? Jasmine is one of my favorite notes.
Smells like it's something pulled off from Xerjoff Oud Star collection, perhaps slightly less refined. Soapy jasmine, a little animalic oud to counter it in which otherwise would smell a very generic jasmine attar. Oh yes, the bottle is a stunner. Bulky solid crystal, very elaborated as if to hide the little amount of liquid that it holds.

I took my tiny Binturong sample for a full wearing yesterday. I'm not sure if I get the oud, at least not the one I'm familiar with. I got some sweetness, castoreum, coffee, smoke, sandalwood and amber. Those notes were well-blended with labdanum being the major player on my skin and they revealed itself in stages. Didn't project far (maybe due to minimum application). Excellent longevity. I must say I quite enjoyed wearing it. Unfortunately, the 30ml extrait is $198 USD, which is way off my budget.

In the meantime, I'm waiting for my sample of much talked about Civet by Zoologist to arrive. We'll see how it compares to Binturong.
That is very cool. I'm waiting a bunch of samples order from Luckyscent myself. Somehow it stuck in Poland, due to the item being misdirected.

Is it the Best of 2016 sample pack? The Issara by Dusita is an interesting one I wanna try but I'm saving the $ for other things first.
Nope, just a couple of Xerjoff. Wanna test it out on my skin before buying a full bottle. Granted, I'm okay with losing the item, it's a test buy smile.gif

Today I'm wearing another absolute favorite of mine from Serge Lutens - Ambre Sultan. Smells almost identical to Amber Absolute by Tom Ford. Technically, Ambre Sultan was released first. Granddaddy of all niche amber perfumes.
How would you rate it against Amouage Opus VI?

Last month got myself 4 decants of Xerjoff : Kobe, 40 Knots, Mefisto and 1861 Renaissance. To me Mefisto is very similar to Creed's Silver Mountain, maybe its a better version IMO. Kobe has a weird opening, an almost bitter smell but let it simmer down a while and it turns into a lovely aromatic and spicy scent. 40 Knots is touted as an aquatic but to me its more woody spicy scent....not bad at all. And then there is the !861....on my oh myyyyy....this has to my favourite of the 4. A few spritz and you are immediately enveloped in a lemon orange bergamot heaven  notworthy.gif . Detected a whiff of mint in the mix and it dries down o a beautiful woody floral. Powerful stuff this for a citrus scent....it lasts and projects very well.

And now am eagerly waiting for my full bottle of Nio.....  dry.gif
Cool stuff. I've got to try Nio as well then. Do you have the chance to try Xerjoff Oud Star collection? I've been wondering whether their oud are syntactic or the real deal.
