Is there anyone here who doesn't like his Amouage Epic Man, and selling it cheap? biggrin.gif

QUOTE(t0n3 @ Dec 24 2015, 06:37 PM)
Haha, I love the way you described Leather Oud. Yeah, both Leather Oud and Kouros share the same animalic honey civet notes. It's also the same you find in APlS by MFK. It's a shame that Kouros today is just a toned down/cleaned up version of its former self. Didn't try Oud Ispahan because I'm not really a fan of the French/western oud scents. I have a tiny decant of Cambodian oud oil given by Joey, which I find it pleasantly balmy. They say this is the most pleasant. Indian oud is the most challenging.

I love to browse in Kinokuniya. They have wider choice than MPH and Borders that I've been to.
*
I sprayed Kouros (tester) at an airport when I was on my way to Moscow or something. Had to wash it out before boarding as not to offend! That oud oil must be nice. Saw some online seller selling 0.2ml decant for USD50.

I went to smell a few fragrances from Jovoy and Xerjoff yesterday. Hopefully I can get my hand on Mamluk. There were no one at the counter to entertain me yesterday.

SOTD: Oud Jaune Intense by Fragrance Du Bois (sample).

QUOTE(t0n3 @ Dec 31 2015, 12:25 PM)
In 2014, it expanded beyond amber and into other resins particularly incense, frankincense, myrrh and oppononax. I guess some of you may know that 2014 had been a Tauer year for me together with Churchy incense. That same year also marked the beginning of animalic year that was to come with purchases of Labdanum 18 by Le Labo and Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle.
*
I love incense, myrrh, and frankincense. Amouage is my favorite house, and easily accessible (KLCC). I'd love to check out Nishane, and Tauer as you mentioned. But I hate (blind) buying online. I'm also looking to check-out Arabian Oud.

If anyone interested, Penhaligon at KLCC is having some sort of promotion. I saw a miniature set of five (top sellers), selling for RM260 something. I went there to sample Blenheim Bouquet.

L'artisan Parfumeur section looks like they've sized down to a limited selections.

Thanks for the heads up bro.

Winston Churchill rocked Blenheim Bouquet.

Do you love it? It smells like lemon-grass, with some hints of lemon. After 30 minutes, it becomes a skin-scent.

It's difficult to find Amouage testers right now, I guess I have to take a plunge and buy at a full retail price.

I tried it. A nice citrusy scent but fleeting unless for someone who doesn't mind re-applying.

Which Amouage are you gonna blind buy?
*
I wanna go for Jubilation XXV. Either that or Epic Man. I've tried them both smile.gif

I would go for Jubilation. Which one do you prefer more?

I love them both, almost equally. And Interlude too. Would love to get them all, but I've purchased too many fragrances lately. Jubilation is almost entirely frankincense to my nose.

Ahh, sweet, been looking for skin-scent fragrances for men for quite some time now ..
Any good and affordable recommendations fellow fragheads ?
Been wondering why some women can have their fragance on for so long, found the phrase i've been looking for .. skin-scent yup  thumbup.gif
*
I'm new, so my suggestion would be limited. Maybe others can chip in. Most fragrances from L'artisan Parfumeur to my nose, are skin-scents type. I'm you're looking for something fresh, try checking-out L'artisan Parfumeur Batucada. It's delicate lime, and mint.

I went to try RM160 Afnan Supremacy Silver. To my surprise, it's very very very similar to Creed Aventus, complete with the birch burned tar smells. Only that it's slightly less potent, but very very similar.

SOTD: Dehn al Oudh Abiyad. This smells like Gucci Oud

Any idea where to try the Afnan Supremacy Silver?  hmm.gif

Isetan at the Garden Mall MidValley had fragrance stock clearance promotion for the past few days. I did not know that it was a highly regarded Aventus 'clone' at Basenotes/Fragrantica, tested it by chance. However my wife said it smelled totally different.

I'm not sure if it's available somewhere else.

One of them I tried smelled like 24 Gold but not sure if it was Kalemat though.

I went to sniff Kalemat by Arabian Oud. They're having 50% discount, so the price is just RM200. Sweet amber, musky, gourmand-ish honey, vanilla. Basenotes loves it. I don't really like it. What caught my attention though, this:

user posted image

Fecal Indian oud on the initial spray, and slowly transform to soft musky and a little floral. The drydown is almost like Oud Ispahan but more subtle. For RM800+ after discount, I couldn't pull out my card since I've something else in my mind.

Smokey BBQ amber. Easy on the trigger. It's very potent. Mine is a tester without fancy cap and retail box.

Nice thanks, I'll check it out over the weekend.

There's a niche perfume store at the hotel where I stay, there are many houses I don't even recognize. Like Eight and Bob, Carner Barcelona, and PRO FVMVM ROMA. blink.gif

Haven't heard of EIGHT & BOB. Have only tried Tardes by Carner Barcelona - Almond, tonka bean and musk, which is one of their popular ones along with Cuirs and D600. Ambra Aurea by Profumum Roma is one of the better amber scents they say. You might be interested to try their Olibanum, which is frankincense.

Thanks a million. I'll check them out.

Finally I had the chance to sample Xerjoff Mamluk, and Al-Khat at Amsterdam. 'Niche' fragrances aren't really that rare in Europe. Now on Al-Khat, I have no idea what 'fecal' smells the guys at Fragrantica are raging about. It's just so pleasing to my nose.

QUOTE(dertwert @ Jan 28 2016, 10:47 AM)
Boss, how do you find the Neroli's smell? How does it compare to Bergamot?
Still can't find Neroli in shops.
*
Loves Neroli better than Bergamot. Neroli is like a stronger, more darker and bitter version of it.

If "fecal" doesn't smell offensive but pleasant to you then I must say your taste of fragrances are on par with the Europeans or French in particular wink.gif

Or it's just my blocked nose due to winter biggrin.gif

Fixed. Hopefully tongue.gif

Your choices of fragrances, are very 'niche'. I'm mostly familiar only with mainstream niche.

Thanks for the feedback. You do have a great sense of smell as I only sensed the slight bitterness as compared to the Bergamot, everything else is the same. Tested from the box samples they have counters.
*
Did you try Sicilian Mandarin? It's lighter than both, in my opinion. You may like it.

SOTD - Lonestar Memories by Tauer Perfumes
It truly is an ode to birch tar. You have to love birch tar to love this one. The closest of what it smells like that I can think of is Ambra by Santa Maria Novella. Performance of Lonestar Memories is excellent. Wearing this makes me thinking of Cuir Cannage and Knize Ten of which I might be getting one of them next. I've concluded Salome by Papillon is not for me after much testing.
I love the birch tar in Aventus. Got to try Tauer.
