Got a Nikon D3200 kit lens (18-55mm). I was beginner. May I know this lens is enough or get another lens can zoom better?
*
Like what bro DS_Legacy said, familiarize with the kit lens to know which focal length you uses the most then decide smile.gif battery wise it's always good to have at least a spare battery with you smile.gif

i need opinion guys
i have D5500
i want to buy extra batteries, is it ok to buy 3rd party batteries like DSTE EN-EL14?
Nikon Original EN-EL14a very expensive, i want to save money to buy prime lens.
*
Normally the shops will offer PWP promo with battery no? I got an additional original battery for RM 99 at Harvey Norman last time thumbup.gif

But I would strongly suggest not to use 3rd party battery if possible..you would want a RM 80+ battery ruin your RM 2k+ camera right brows.gif

QUOTE(Vox @ Dec 16 2015, 04:43 PM)
Guys,

need some help here I think a month ago, I commented that I have bought a D7100 + 50mm f1.8 prime lens and additional kit lens.

Played around with both lens, the kit lens really cant satisfy me.
I really love the 50mm lens as I mentioned before, I love taking clear shots.
But the problem is prime lens cannot zoom and not really practical for travel.

Im planning to get one good lens with similar quality with my prime lens.
- Able to zoom
- Wide for landscape
- Low aperture for better speed and bocay.
- Budget - 2k
- zoom range between 50-70+ is enough due to weight restrictions

I do not mind about brand or whatever as long as the quality and durability stays.

Any recommendation guys?
*
As per what other bros here mentioned, I recommend the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 is the most suitable lens for your liking smile.gif I've used it personally and like it quite a lot biggrin.gif

If you have extra cash to spend, the Nikkor 17-55mm is the lens to go because of the sharpness thumbup.gif

Very thanks for all brothers giving out explanation to beginner like me.

I wish I would go for the Nikon 17-55mm. However, budget constraints and I need it quite urgently (travelling soon).

May I know 24-70mm f2.8 how much it will cost? (2nd hand or third party). I would really consider if its still under my "serious budget" wise. As I believe it has same quality image but wider zoom range. (even more versatile than the 17-55mm during travel).

Thanks in advance!

ok forget about it.

Just saw the price of 24-70mm on lowyat market. sad.gif
*
Moreover 24-70mm is a full frame lens, so it would be 36-105mm on your DX camera sweat.gif so it's still better to get the Tamron ones smile.gif

Hi everyone. Recently I borrowed my cousin's D3200 but found that autofocus not working well. So I brought it to the shop and uncle over there told me autofocus motor spoil ready and the front part of the lens shaking little bit as well.

Repairing cost will be RM280 with 3 months warranty. Is it worth to repair this lens or I just should get any other similar lens. Its a kit lens 18mm - 55mm. My cousin prefer to get something similar to the kits lens. Price Im not sure, is there any lens within similar price range.

Tnanks in advance.
*
Like what the rest mentioned, getting a used 18-55 kit lens will be cheaper biggrin.gif and if my assumption is correct, your cousin might have tried rotating the focus ring when the lens is in AF position sad.gif happened to my cousin's 18-140 as well cry.gif

hi all, am a.....newbie that recently bought a used D3200. what kind of basic setting suggest to get in best shot? am still trying to learn...mostly shutter mode and aperture mode but result not as what i expect. any tips and trick? not being lazy but it will be good if have sifu (s) here teach me some smile.gif i have a 18-55mm lens and 70-300mm lens.

And also any prefer place to service lens? for cleaning purpose.
*
In my opinion, the best way to learn is getting out there and shoot smile.gif you can learn the basics of exposure on a lot of websites, I remember that I was shooting a running fan to know the basics of shutter speed and ISO laugh.gif

*
Actually what other sifu here said is really true, if you have the feeling of laziness to bring the camera out to shoot, you will feel that way no matter what camera you use...

Stick with a phone camera will be the best option for you because phone is something you'll bring out all the time smile.gif

I also wondering in term of FX vs DX format, is there really have significant different?
I do read before about this comparison but maybe other sifu can comment in different point of view.
*
I personally is still on DX due to budget constrain, am based on my experience online...no FX user will say DX and FX has little difference, which is true sweat.gif FX is quite superior over DX.

My suggestion is, if you have a range of DX lenses and you have no intention to change to FX soon, just stick with DX thumbup.gif

UNLESS, you have a lot of money that is biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

18-55mm...may I know why? sweat.gif  sweat.gif

intend to bring it outside and shoot more, but the place where I live right now always raining...
*
18-140mm has more reach so technically it will be a more versatile lens smile.gif 18-55mm is the most common range for kit lenses.

Raining scene can be beautiful so try an go out and shoot more biggrin.gif

just like what jun_ng_1208 sifu says, 18-140mm is more versatile. But I started shooting with a 18-55mm too.  biggrin.gif
Despite being a basic lens, you can still shoot a lot of nice shots with that lens.  icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi guys, I'm using the D5300 with kit lens.
Just curious why after taking pictures and I view them in the LCD, it appears less sharp but when I zoom in it becomes sharp. Is it anything to worry about?
*
Erm...how do you define less sharp? You got any sample to upload and link it here? And are you should that you are focusing at the right spot?

guys, i need advise on this matter, should I go with sigma 17-70 or nikon 16-85? (the body is D5500, I believe no need to times 1.5 crop factor. correct me if I'm wrong) ? At first I want to choose tokina 11-16, but who knows if I need to zoom a little bit more..so right now I dont know which one should I go with. thnx
*
Not too sure about the Sigma, but the Nikkor 16-85mm is a very versatile lens if you can accept the smaller apperture thumbup.gif thought of getting it previously biggrin.gif crop factor for DX is always 1.5x wink.gif

Tokina 11-16mm is a totally different lens when compared to the Sigma and Nikkor, as the Tokina is a ultra wide angle lens tongue.gif at the end of the day, it depends on your usage nod.gif

hello sifu2 and master2
I am using d5300 and i found there's is a little black dot and a hair from viewfinder.
I try to clean with blower but the dirt still there

It's not affecting the picture, but feeling not good when u see a hair in your viewfind laugh.gif

any solution?
*
I have the same issue with my D5300 as well but apparently because the D5300 is using Pentamirror and not Pentaprism, so there are gaps in in the pentamirror assembly...the only way is to dissemble the whole camera and clean the pentamirror to solve this.

Asked at Nikon Centre and was quoted 250++ for this, i just learnt how to live with it laugh.gif

Hi, i have only 1 lens 35mm 1.8 for my d5100, kit lens already spoiled. Do you guys suggest me to go for a tokina 11-16 or nikon 10-24. I mostly shoot on travel photo and scenery (mountains most of the time). Dont want something that is so heavy that it break my neck
*
Get the Tokina 11-16mm DX II as the first gen doesn't have built in focus motor smile.gif I am aiming to get the same lens but not contemplating between Tokina 11-16mm and Tamron 17-50mm tongue.gif

that is a very different lens haha..

I had the 17-50mm before but sold it due to the weight factor, I am now the same as you tongue.gif with only 35mm sweat.gif but I will most probably go for the 11-16mm as that is much better for scenery photography thumbup.gif

But the 11-16mm is kinda pricey now, KLDSLR.com selling for 1.6k sad.gif
