I have a Samsung 850 Evo (1T), and the Samsung's SSD management software called "Magician", the disk optimization doesn't work for Win 8 and above! rclxub.gif
Windows XP/Vista/7 doesn't have native TRIM, hence the reason why Samsung Magician Software is created
Windows 8/8.1/10 on the other hand native TRIM support built-in into the operating system

You don't need to use any SSD management software for Windows 8 and above
Don't feed your OCD. You're only killing your SSD faster by running TRIM often. Let your Windows do the trimming on it's own

I am planning to buy this model
SSD
the 120gb variant
Do not buy 120GB, it may seem enough for you now, but one day you will realize that 120GB is too small
Unless you're only using your desktop for work & internet surfing my advise is to go for 240GB/250GB/256GB SSD

how do you check if its sata 2 or not, is it alright to use sata 2 cable for my ssd?
There is no such thing as SATA 1 / SATA 2 / SATA 3 cable
A SATA cable is a SATA cable, no more, no less
I've tried using a SATA cable that came from my older socket 478 motherboard on my SATA 3 SSD, CrystalDiskInfo still showing the SSD running at 6Gb/s

What's important is the port on your motherboard & the SSD itself runs at SATA 3

free shipping to malaysia?
Yes
QUOTE(kamechi @ Apr 12 2016, 09:04 AM)
how is the warranty works?
Here's how it works:
1. You want cheap stuff from Amazon, you gotta send it back to Crucial USA when you want to RMA it
2. You want easy to RMA stuff, buy from local distributor

You can't have both. And no, local distributor does not entertain imported stuff. They will tell you the same thing I said above
How do I know? Because I'm an ex Crucial importer/supplier

i wonder how long it takes for crucial to return fixed drives to their customers if i were to get it directly from their website.
That depends on which courier you use to send the faulty RAM/SSD to Crucial US
If you use Poslaju, then you will get the replacement RAM/SSD within 2 ~ 3 weeks starting from the 1st day you ship it to the US
If you use Pos Daftar, it will take longer, probably about 30 ~ 50 days as it will take a very long time for the parcel to arrive in the US

wow it's less than one month with poslaju?! that's fast.

i suspect our beloved local distributors somehow still use sampan or bicycles to send rma goods to and fro, hence their turnaround time usually takes at least a month. although it's free, the current logistic that they use is not efficient at all. they should just subscribe to poslaju :/
The reason why Poslaju is fast is because the charges is very expensive
You'll be surprised at how much they charge just to send 1 piece of RAM / SSD to the US sweat.gif

Most distributors send products the faulty hardwares to the manufacturer weekly

i believe the price is justifiable if you need the rma process to be faster.
Not if the charge is RM170 just for the sake of sending a small & thin box containing an SSD
To me, that's not worth it

Although Crucial IS one of the only few manufacturers who allows end users to RMA directly with them, not a lot of manufacturers accept end user RMA

There's a reason why I stopped importing & selling Crucial products
Their products are not as good as they used to be. Back when DDR2 matters, their products were a hit globally. Now, not so much

Mac OS doesn't provide TRIM for 3rd party SSD
Although you can enable it using TRIM Enabler
