goldfries because it's too great for price vs performance , I plan to get it for normal usage , actually not much on gaming.
So maybe if you have time can do some SSD endurance experiment stress test 200TB w/r btw , what's the differnet between intel ssd 335 vs 330 for 120GB ? Same firmware and fixed ? |

em0ti0n Thanks for the explanation , which means
Windows = Any ssd will do ( trim enable ) Linux with ext4 = Particular model ( trim disable ) Will a newer kernal fix it ? http://www.military-technologies.net/2015/...ially-released/ Guess avoid linux system on ssd first until problem fix but for window any SSD will do right ? Normal usage , just for loding window faster and program faster , beside it's slow , everytime load something I can hear my Sgate hard disk seeking sound So which SSD do you recommend , budget not more than rm 350 |

hornsSeems like the issue was solve and the cause is the linux kernel itself
https://blog.algolia.com/when-solid-state-d...not-that-solid/ btw , dont understand what it means in technical therm for the fix http://www.spinics.net/lists/raid/msg49440.html . So , time to get a ssd Do I need to buy a new bracket for ssd ? will it fit into a floppy disk slot ? Do you think Liteon a good buy ,reading reviews it's oem for dell ssd. |

QUOTE(horns @ Aug 9 2015, 02:28 AM) oh this is good news Oh, thanks for the explanation , Normal beginner Debian user ubuntu. if your hdd caddy cannot house ssd properly, you might need one to secure it in 3.5" hdd bays. (new casings usually comes with settings for ssd) yes i use liteon oem ssds also. to me, they're good. liteon is a common name in major brands (mostly higher end laptops and workstations). about liteon SCS- L9S is for retail version ? about the 4K speed is a bit low . Does Plextor came from liteon ? |

QUOTE(horns @ Aug 11 2015, 12:23 AM) it shouldn't be. have you updated the firmware? If ssd doesn't have firmware update ? Should I update the BIOS for SSD or just install OS stright away ? since update bios is a risky solution. the correct sequence should be updating the firmware first. for w7 and up the install media will create default partition layouts and do formatting for you, so you don't need to do anything. |

kizwan horns At windows and debian , I can't safely remove USB3.0 hard drive and I can't check SMART status on external hard drive.
I suspect it's the bios issue where using other computer , I can do it without a problem. |

Having a similar motherboard too , does you guys having problem cannot eject USB3.0 port using an external USB hard disk ? I am having similar problem for every usb3.0 port wheres it's fine on usb2 port horns At the bios section didn't mention on bug fix on SSD , so I just i'll be fine install SSD first for testing benchmark. What bug will present or encounter for SSD if bios doesn't support it ? |

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 24 2016, 09:52 AM) that's weird. what about trying to do 'align all partitions'? http://www.partitionwizard.com/help/align-...partitions.html As for fresh installation on a empty SSD , does align important ?just to be sure, check the alignment manually. press win key + r and type 'msinfo32'. goto system summary > components > storage > disks. get the value for 'partition starting offset' of your ssd and then use calculator to divide it with 4096. if the result is a whole number, then the alignment is ok. if it's a decimal, then it's bad. if aligning all partitions also doesn't work, i guess you should find out other ways online (there are many ways to do 4k alignment). i use this free minitool partition wizard previously and it worked for me. worst comes to worst, use diskpart > clean on ssd and start over. (it's a sure-fix for 4k alignment) |

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 30 2016, 07:21 AM) It depends on os. Newer os like w8.x/10 will do this automatically. However it never hurt to verify the 4K alignment if you're in doubt. What about WIndows 7 SP1 ? Any guide installing window 7 on a new SSD ? tweaks and others to perform better and lasting ? Or just only follow at the first post of ssd guide ? |
