About this job

Job description

The Piping Supervisor’s role is to provide support to the Piping Superintendent through the provision of field supervision, planning, quality management, coordination and construction management capabilities.

Assists managing the Contractors working in their area of the project with respect to:

•HSE Procedures implementation;

•Interface with engineering staff for technical matters and support services;

•Ensure Contractor compliance with the Quality Management Plan;

•Interface and support the Contracts Administrator to resolve contractual issues;

•Issuing Site Instructions in accordance with Project Change Management Procedures.

The Piping Supervisor shall have a general oversight of the whole of the Piping Construction works:

•Provides mentoring to new & junior staff

•Openly communicates & shares information to ensure all team members are fully informed

•Ensures that other team members are fully informed when they are required to provide job cover during periods of R&R.

Common Responsibilities

•Is personally responsible for ‘Zero Incident & Injuries’.

Specific Responsibilities

•Compliance to all aspects of the HSE Procedures including inspections/audits of the Contractors’ areas, Hazard Card reporting, accident/incident investigations reporting, issue of work permits, job hazard analysis, behavioral based observations, conducting additional safety meetings and weekly workplace Inspections as and when required etc.

•Audits for Quality, task specific and compliance.

•Ensures that relevant contractors and personnel comply with the applicable requirements of the HSE Procedures.

•Actively participates in and supports the Zero Incident & Injuries approach to workplace safety.

•Inspects the work under each contract daily and advises the contractor of any corrective actions needed as they occur.

•Observes the taking of all project records required in accordance with the contractor’s ITP’s and obtains copies for the review by the Mechanical / Piping Superintendent and/or the Area Project Engineer.

•Makes any records of the project works as required by the Piping Superintendent and/or the Area Project Engineer, where the contractor may not be making such records.

•Ensures all tests are conducted in accordance with the contract and instructs the contractor to undertake remedial works where tests do not meet the Specification.

•Ensures contractors are working to the latest revisions of the Drawings and Specifications.

•Ensures site entry requirements for plant, equipment and people are complied with.

•Identifies and obtains approvals for additional work outside the original contract/project scope of work prior to implementation.

•Assists in maintaining documentation relating to work within the contract including a daily dairy.

•Conforms to the requirements included in the Program Procedures Manual for communication with contractors and site administration issues.

•Assists with maintaining detailed records of contractor’s progress against schedule and reviews with the Piping Superintendent measures necessary to ensure compliance with the project implementation schedule.

•Reports daily on the Contractor’s activities.

•Attends the daily pre-starts as necessary & weekly meetings with contractors.

•Assists in the formal inspections and ‘punch lists’ to be prepared during the period leading to completion of individual contracts.

•Coordinates with construction personnel, contractors, statutory authorities, client etc. to arrange operational shutdowns, relocations or tie-ins to existing plant and services.

•Regularly reviews the current delivery dates of all equipment and report immediately where dates are unsuitable for site progress or deliveries are falling behind schedule.

•Continually reviews construction drawings for adequacy, completeness, interfaces etc. Reports any deficiencies or shortcomings to the Piping Superintendent.

•Where works are carried out at hourly rates, assists in ensuring that extra claim sheets are correct in accordance with procedures and approved on a daily basis.

•Coordinates vendor inspections of contractor’s work.

•Assists in commissioning duties as and when required.

•Assists in supervision of any extra works by contractors and preparation documentation verifying completion of the work and counter signs contractor’s hourly works time sheets.

•Reviews proposed and actual changes to project implementation and contractor schedules and reports any concerns.

•Monitor resources employed by contractors including number and calibre of staff, manpower and equipment and make recommendation where deficiencies are found.

•Performs other duties as assigned.

Desired Skills and Experience

Basic Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree with at least 10 years’ experience in related projects.

Job location:

Candidate will be required to work in project location in eastern Malaysia

Hi guys,

Will have an interview with Exxon this 30th. Any fresh grad who has gone through an interview with them recently? Please share your tips (otais can also share biggrin.gif). I've got common interview questions covered, its just that I have searched and I'm not sure if they have stuff like case studies etc.
