yaa hopefully... like in mid 2008.. only 1 or 2 FPSO projects been awarded.. then in 2010, berduyun-duyun FPSO projects muncul..

Just want to share that today is the official ceremony of first steel cut for South Acis SA-SA topside (satellite platform) at Brooke Dockyard fabrication yard @ Sejingkat, Kuching. Client is Murphy Oil for SPSA Gas Development (Serendah, Patricia & South Acis) project at offshore Bintulu. Do expect a massive hiring from Brooke after this.

Brooke Dockyard is the best training ground for fresh grad to learn about O&G fabrication and construction industry. If not because of Brooke I will not reach the level where I am today and I am very grateful for the opportunity that I had during my tenure with Brooke on SA-PA and SA-AA jacket & topside fabrication.

I am more optimistic than you; my bet is oil price will hit 80USD by Sept 2015.

Three workers were killed when an explosion ripped through a floating production unit working for Petrobras in the Espirito Santo basin off Brazil on Wednesday, with 10 more injured and six missing, the state oil company has confirmed.



The incident took place at 12:50pm local time onboard the Cidade de Sao Mateus floating production, storage and offloading vessel owned by Norwegian contractor BW Offshore, according to Petrobras and the Sindipetro NF union.

The FPSO has been producing from the Camarupim and Camarupim Norte fields about 120 kilometres off Brazil.

"BW is providing full assistance to employees and their families, with support from Petrobras," the Brazilian explorer said.

"The accident was controlled from the immediate activation of the Emergency Plan to mobilise all necessary resources."

BW Offshore also confirmed the event, adding: "Production has been stopped and the unit has been shut down."

In a statement, BW's chief executive Carl Arnet expressed his "deep sadness" over the incident, adding: “This is a sad day for all of us at BW Offshore and our thoughts are with the families of those we have lost.”

He said the company was“channelling all our efforts and resources to the situation, with special attention to those affected and next of kin”.

A total of 74 workers were on the platform, with dozens rescued by lifeboat on the way to Vitoria, capital of Espirito Santo state, according to Petrobras and the union.

The union attributed the incident to a gas leak and said an associated fire had been controlled.

Brazil's National Petroleum Agency (ANP)said it had dispatched two teams to investigate the incident, one of which would head to Petrobras' crisis centre in Rio de Janeiro and the the other would head out to the vessel.

"There was no oil spillage, the fire has been extinguished and the platform is stabilised," the ANP added.

The unit had been most recently producing 2.25 billion cubic metres of gas per day and 350 cubic metres of oil per day, according to the agency.

The FPSO passed a Brazilian navy inspection in 2015 and the ANP updated its maritime documentation in 2014.

The Camarupim concession is operated 100% by Petrobras, while Camarupim Norte is a partnership between Petrobras on 75% and Ouro Preto Energia on 25%.

The incident is shaping up to be among the deadliest offshore accidents at Petrobras since 2001, when 11 workers were killed in the sinking of semi-submersible P-36.

Moored in 790 metres of water, the Cidade de Sao Mateus FPSO is owned by BW Offshore and is geared primarily to producing gas rather than oil.

The FPSO has gas compression capacity of 353 MMcfd of gas and processing capacity of 25,000 barrels per day of oil, with storage capacity for 700,000 barrels. It is under contract from 2009 to 2018.

Petrobras in 2010 achieved first gas from the field, which helps supply the region's power grid.
