fiber land line should be consistent in term of coverage. The cons on Maxis is that once u have issue, U need to wait long long for TM to fix it.

Anyone face the same issue, where ipv6 to Maxis isn't as speedier as before. Also a lot of lost packets.

With ipv4, no issue, I can get back the subscribed speed.

Have you tried with a wired connection? Maybe a different server? I always get slower speeds when using maxis Speedtest server

Your packet loss seems more concerning than the speed drop
*
May i know packet loss is loss from wifi or loss during the entire trip back and forth with the speed test server?

I got it since I registered for Maxis Fiber last year. RM 129 for 300Mbps and now upgraded to 500Mbps, it is still 129. However, this will last for 24 months only, after my contract ends next March, it will go back to RM 149. However, I'm not keen to pay more, by then let's see what other options I have.

nice to hear. I am waiting for this confirmation as well and since your RM20 rebate is intact, I shall upgrade mine too. Thanks for your info.

I dont play game therefore unifi and maxis is fine for me. Problem with maxis after CGNAT (not sure if it is caused by CGNAT) is slow speed at night when surfing and youtube watching is not smooth. Day time is ok. But i m only at home at night.
*
Same experience on private IP (CGNat), nothing is smooth at night. After +RM10 for public IP, no more issue.

QUOTE(dev/numb @ Mar 5 2024, 03:23 PM)
Couple more questions from someone planning to switch from TM UniFi to Maxis Fiber;

1. Maxis will use the same BTU that was supplied by TM, right? How is the BTU warranty handled after the switch? Do Maxis take over the so called “lifetime warranty” for the BTU, or will I  need to pay out of own pocket if it malfunctions in future?

2. With regards to reporting faults or connection troubleshooting, do they have a helpline, and is it responsive? I don’t use social media. Also, if using Maxis on TM infra, will contacting Maxis be enough or will I need to ping-pong back and forth between Maxis and TM technicians?
*
1. That BTU is still supplied by TM and still lifetime warranty.

2. ETA to get things fixed if you are riding on TM BB for Maxis would be longer. Maxis technician has to come n visit 1st, then if it is really TM BB's fault, TM will fix it the next day or so.

this two three days,i’m facing frequent lost connection. auth and link led suddenly gone and it will light up again after a few minutes and there is a time it takes a few hours. do u guys facing this type of issue lately? want to know if this is isolate case. thanks
*
Just call Maxis and report about this symptom. Make sure the technician measures the fiber optic reading at ONU. If >-30dBm, ur line is unstable. Best is -16dBm,

internet is down currently. damn TM contractor broken the connector at the greenbox after fixing my neighbour's issue. ETA to get this fix is 1 week as per maxis maxpert advise.

currently waiting for Maxis' dongle from maxpert. really sad case being downplayed by TM.

Surprising TM come without Maxpert. TM replace this and all are ok.

Damn, I got a port that shared with other neighbour. So my optical power is around 21-22dBm. No wonder my downstairs neighbour is at the perfect 18dBm

This is not good practice, instead of being fair and giving the rest equal distribution of optical power, they're splitting Non Unifi reserved ports to other ISP users?

laugh.gif

I'm displeased not with the R&R issues in this country but even Non-Unifi port users not get splitted ports?

22.17dBM quite risky there. Given Malaysian extreme humid weather and bad maintenance practices, in a year or 2 your signal level will degrade soon enough.

Once 23-34dBm, at the borderline level you'll start experiencing frequent line disconnects and stability issues.

The ideal signal level is 18-19dBm.Anything above I don't suggest going for gigabit plans in future.
*
maybe should I move to Unifi to remove the port splitting?

Currently the LOS light is blinking red for me …

This is physically fiber cable problem. Same as mine previously, where when it rain, LOS light would be blinking. Found out that there was a dent (very minor dent) at the main cable from the distribution box into my house. So need fix by laying a new fiber cable. After that my internet is stable with -20dBm reading.

Bear in mind that TM plays dirty with Maxis customers on HSBB. If you are on Unifi, you are going to get a dedicated port with -16dBm reading which is super good. And if you are on Maxis, your main port would be splitted into two and there is some degradation in term of optical power.

The majority of my neighbors who are on Unifi do get dedicated ports. However, the minority of us—three neighbors, including myself—who are on Maxis and Digi, are assigned to the splitted ports. Anyhow, after laying new fiber cable, the internet speed is great without any issues with connectivity. We just need to ensure that the optical power is below -27dBm.
