I don't know what's going on between you two. Who's right here?

Moses came with the Law.

Jesus came and nullify the Law, replacing it with Grace of God.

Is that it?

UW and Jul, you are both right in your own interpretation, according to the author Sandra Teplinsky, OT is for the Jews and NT is for the Christians, Jesus come to world to fulfill and renew the Law not to abolish..........thus saying both of you are right just that both of you have a different view of theologies smile.gif  smile.gif

Nah I'm done. I'm not going into another round, waste of time IMO. Really WASTE.
That's because you don't know the history. It's been that many years.
We should be going out there sharing the gospel. Not hunting down believers as a ministry.

So somebody called you a "woman". Big deal. People called me a "whore". Now that's insulting. vmad.gif

God introduced the Law in the OT, but Jesus came to nullify the Law in NT?

But in Matthew 5:17, it says "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

Please don't kill me.

Who ever said Jesus came to nullify the law?

He came to fulfill the law because we can't do it.

And through his fulfilling the law on behalf of mankind, we have salvation.

Yeah, that part I get it.

I'm just saying why did God create the laws when we can't even follow it?

QUOTE(unknown warrior @ Mar 6 2015, 08:12 AM)
At that point of time, Before the Cross. Jesus need to fulfill the Law, so that what was prophesied about Him being the Messiah will be fulfilled.
Because only Jesus can and qualify to fulfill the Law. That is why he said, He didn't come to abolish the Law or the Prophet and He emphasized that not one letter or stroke will disappear from the Law until it is accomplished.

Matthew 5:18 - For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
See the word there "until everything is accomplished, which He did! He accomplished the father's commision for Him to die at the cross.
What this means is that when it it is accomplished! He cried "FINISH" at the cross, that is when He made the covenant of the Law for us believers, obsolete or in other modern term nullified.

Hebrews 8:13 - By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.

NLT translate it like this:  Hebrews 8:13 (NLT) .....It is now out of date and will soon disappear.

King James emphasized it even better

King James Bible
In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

The Old Covenant is decayed and ready to vanish away.

Everything in context, dear Tina.

And this verse below solidified that we are not to look at the Law anymore

2 Corinthians 3:6
He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant--not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

the word "letter" here refers to the 10 commandments. It "Kills" when you look to it.

The Law is not for believers anymore.

It is for Unbelievers. It stands there to point them to Christ.

For us Believers, we are to look to Christ constantly and not the Law.
Does it mean that we can do as we please? I never said that.  smile.gif  (That is the problem with some people's mind)
*
Ok look to Christ. Got it.

QUOTE(pehkay @ Mar 6 2015, 08:17 AM)
The short version:

The function of the law is to expose men in their sinful nature and evil deeds (Rom. 3:20b; 4:15b; 5:20b; 7:7b). In this sense, the law works as a mirror. If we do not look in a mirror, we cannot see how dirty our face is. But when we look at the mirror, the dirty condition of our face is exposed. The law works like a mirror to expose our sinful nature and evil deeds.

Why:

After the creation of man, however, something happened. Satan came in, sin followed Satan, and man became fallen. Thus, man became a fallen man constituted with sin to be a sinner. God created man in His own image and after His own likeness (Gen. 1:26) with the intention that man could take in God, live God, and express God. The main line of God's economy began with man and was on the way when something happened. A "car accident" occurred. Therefore, the law needed to come in alongside the main line of God's economy. This should help us to understand Paul's word in Romans 5:20a.

Now God had to fix the situation. Would God keep man out of His plan, forgetting about man? Of course, God would never do that because He is the Alpha and also the Omega (Rev. 22:13). He cannot start anything without completing it.

In order to continue His purpose with man after man's fall, God added something to the main line of His economy. The Chinese version of the Bible says in Romans 5:20 that the law was added. It was something in addition to grace. The law was in addition to the orthodox line of grace in God's economy.
*
Well said. Focus on Christ.
