You should learn this phrase, De_Luffy.

Wer nichts weiß und weiß, dass er nichts weiß, weiß mehr als der, der nichts weiß und nicht weiß, dass er nichts weiß.

He who knows nothing and knows that he knows nothing, knows more than he who knows nothing and doesn't know that he knows nothing.

Esel essen Nesseln nicht, Nesseln essen Esel nicht.

Donkeys don't eat nettles, nettles don't eat donkeys.

Yes, I will apply my structural engineering knowledge upon those Chinese church structures.

I need to check if there's any partial chipping of concrete on said structure, in order to check the thicknesses and quality.

I need to check the wind loading capacity as well.

Or I would just ask them, "Hey dude, is this an illegal church coz I'm gonna bust some @ss if it is. Then I'll run.." tongue.gif

No as it doesn't really affect your relationship with the Lord. Don't be a prophecy chasing "freak" tongue.gif This doesn't mean we don't read the news and be aware of what's going on.

Yes as in ... well ... the end is nigh. Just grow to be the overcomer that the Lord wants.

Sorry, slight correction. There's the communist government set up 'Catholic' Patriotic Association (open church), while there's the Vatican-loyal underground Catholic Church. The situation of the Catholic Church in China is a bit of a mess because of the communist government's refusal to allow the Vatican to select bishops. Nowadays there are some bishops there who have both the recognition of the Vatican and the communist government, but there are also several with only Vatican recognition (obviously persecuted by the communists) and a parallel goverment-selected bishop.

As Catholics, we will never recognize those government-only bishops as that will be tantamount of goverment inference in church activities. "Render to Caesar what is Caeser's, ....."

How about de1929? Is he a "prophecy freak?" hmm.gif

QUOTE(kron_ka @ Mar 26 2015, 11:46 AM)
Cult church? Which one is that? You were a mormon? I once met a mormon guy, very friendly. He invited me to help out the blind people association at brickfields. I often played chess with the blind folks, they are really good at it, beat me every time because we play chess every day.

Well those seductions of materialistic possessions are very obvious.

Just becareful of those subtle inferences. I know i sound like I come out with a heart of condemnation. But we do have to have that heart of being able to tell whats right from wrong based on Holy Spirit that lives in us and our meditation of the word. I been criticised for not supporting pastors who are leaders that need prayers from the church members. I do pray for the pastors but its just when they start to do things they think its deemed best for the church but not realizing they doing more damage to the person's walk with God, I just got to say something. Unfortunately, all they want is a Yes Man. I wouldn't mind disagreements, as long as they have the heart of love to listen and consider what I say. If I say something that is different from the goals of the church, I am labelled as the troublemaker, and ignored. I mean, i not against the goals of the church, just a matter of discussion, I am not a person who is divisive and won't listen, i will help when help is needed.

When people tell you to give and say you always receive..its not true. When we obey God's commands, we become salt and light in every where we go, we also give as well. Like for eg, this weekend, my unbeliever friend who needs help to move house, I am willing to volunteer to move his furniture. This is part of giving to God's kingdom as well, reaching out to your unbeliever friends. You don;t have to toil you sweat as a church worker to be a giving person. Even attending cg and sharing, is also an act of giving as well.

My church has 3000 people, so how many roles can you get into to be part of its active ministry of giving? Probably only 500 positions are opened, so not everyone can participate. I once went into a ministry of which my part is so miniscule, I only contribute 5% of the work done by a 20 person committee. I do try to take initiative to do something else...but at the end, most of us just ended up attending meetings of discussions upon discussions, because too many people to do so little work.
*
I'm not a Mormon. I don't want to talk about my past. Please don't ask anymore.

I know what you mean. There's an aunty in my CG that always eyeball me and talked behind my back in church since Day 1. One day I invited her to my house because she wanted to use my PC for a while. I said, "Fine."

She got shocked that I have 1 iPad, 1 iPhone, 1 Note 3, 1 Note 4, 2 Macbooks, 2 laptops and 1 desktop. laugh.gif

Then she asked if I can lend my Macbook to use for a few weeks. Of course I said, "No."

She asked, "Why not?"

Well because your mouth is like a viper. Pretend me be nice to me but behind my back you say all those nasty things.

tongue.gif Of course she just left and when I see her in CG, we just say "Hi" but we don't talk to each other.

Its funny too that in church some of those members always ask you for help, but when you need help, they just brushed you off and ask you to pray to God. doh.gif

Its always the unbeliever that offer to help you too. nod.gif

Why such hypocrisy? Always talk about God's mercy and love thy neighbour, etc...But never display Christ like behaviour to help others in need.

Sure I said that I ignored those crazy herds in church, but I'm human too, you know.

No biggrin.gif.

A prophecy "freak" IMO is one who chase prophecies like it is a MAJOR truth or thingy in the Bible. For example, I have seen one person who has already target someone prominent in Europe, who he thinks is Antichrist. He will like "bend" all news about this person, to be signs that he is the one. You get what I mean. This year's blood moon tetrad will be interesting tongue.gif

In principle, the central thought of prophecy is not the events mentioned in the prophecies; rather, it is Christ and the church. We tend to lose ourselves in interpretation of prophecy on what will happen to the nation of Israel, to the church, and to the Gentile world. But never see that the two central matters of the prophecies of the Old Testament or the New, are Christ and the church.

------------------------------------------

How about our dear de1929? biggrin.gif He is your archetype of someone who is on the other end of the Spirit-Word spectrum [in simple terms].

In our Christian experience, the Word and the Spirit must always be one. It is an utter falsehood to say that we take the Spirit without taking the Word. Without taking the Word, we cannot have the Spirit. In my experience, I receive the Spirit mostly through the Word. As I contact the Word in a living way, it becomes the Spirit to me. However, some take the Bible without the Spirit. This also is wrong. Those who wish to grow flowers need both the seeds and the life contained in the seeds. It is impossible to separate the life within the seeds from the seeds themselves. In order to have the life, we must take the seeds. The relationship between the Word and the Spirit is like that between the seeds and the life. We must have both. The Lord Jesus is both the Spirit and the Word. He is not the Spirit without being the Word, nor the Word without being the Spirit.

IMO, I think he is on "Word -----------------------------------X Spirit". While he thinks we all are in "Word X---------------------------- Spirit". Basically, we are fundamentalists to him.

BUT, please don't misunderstood me. I do not say that Pentecostalists are wrong. No. Rather, probably I am the only one in this thread [could be wrong] who is "not charismatic" says that Pentecostal was raised up by the Lord in response to dead situation or dead works in Protestant Christianity today. Christianity today is full of works but dead [kron was ranting these few days tongue.gif]. A lot of works done independent of the Spirit.

To be fair, overemphasising on other extreme is not healthy either. Many Pentecostal Christians are too Pentecostal in shouting, in speaking in tongues, in prophesying, and in healing .... till it became forced, manufacturing or worst, fake.

In the early 19-20th century, three things: inner life, pentecostalism and evangelism were the Lord’s reactions to the dead rituals and dead doctrines. But very few people pay attention especially to inner life of knowing the indwelling Spirit. Consequently, this frustrate today's evangelism today. Once we lost the Spirit, believers will tend to "burnt out" and become judgemental because within they have no supply of the Spirit. Without the spirit, there is no transformation in their life, so there is no testimony of Jesus.

There are many things that we can talk about .... but this is enough lar.
