Hi /K,

I want to know how you all guitarist improve your skill over the years (fastest method you can think of)

I am starting playing on my own for now since there are many things to learn and i dont feel like wasting money on tutor just yet.

maybe i will try to find friends to help, so far i am reading the dummy guide for guitar and yesterday i started to tune my dad's acoustic guitar and it was fun and easy (with tuner help).

so please give me your feedback and experience thanks rclxms.gif

Don't use tuner. Use the guitar itself to tune and hear the difference. Go straight to play simple evergreen song, you will automatically remember all the chord. Normally not many chords in a song

theres no fastest, fastest way is just practice, you practice more teh further you go. a good teacher will help more, but even with that, practice.

use tuners, if someone in one of the most premium jazz clubs in kl (who plays with heaps of pros) uses a clip on, i dont see any excuses for you to not use it. tuners by far and large is teh most important thing beside your guitar.

invest in a mic, a musician quality one not some cheap ass computer mic, record what you play and play it back

metronome metronome metronome metronome metronome metronome metronome metronome metronome metronome metronome

understand that music is not a race, if you like classic rock maintaining a shred skill is impressively difficult. play what you like

I think the most important thing is that you have an objective, whether you have real interest or you wanna impress people. I figured out long ago that girls aren't really impress with my guitar skills if I don't have a handsome face. So I realized I wanna play because I love music. From there I branched out also, learn drums, bass, violin, viola, piano, etc. I don't care whether people won't appreciate my music, at least I appreciate it.

The fastest way to learn is to learn slow.
Always have the tuner by your side and use the metronome during practise.
And playing is not practising.

I should apply them tips myself *sigh

Don't feel like wasting money on a tutor. Lol. The 'fastest' way to improve is by learning from a tutor mate. Of course you'll have to find a good guitar teacher. I wasted a good few years from saving money by learning by myself but honestly I regretted it. But here are my tips anyway.

1)Learn songs
2)Jam with a band
3)Record whatever you play, then listen/watch and learn from your mistakes. There's a saying that goes by recording is god's way of telling you you suck and it's true haha.
4)Be constantly inspired. Find new music, research, and most importantly have fun.

I'm not gonna go into more details of what you should do like practice with a metronome, learn the fretboard notes, complex chords, jazz and all that stuff. Too much of that will overwhelm and kill your interest. But I will recommend you to practice with the right techniques and good posture. Overseeing that will make it hard for you to rectify bad posture in future.

Passion is the key. I'll feel incomplete if I didn't touch my guitar for a day. Even just a simple exercise, repetition makes perfect. =D

I didn't find any guitar tutor but I get to know some musician friend and we share each other our knowledge and jam together.

I'm a metalhead. \[][]/

There's a few ways for those starting from scratch.

1. Chords
2. Tabs
3. Replicate from videos/tutor/friend

Listen to lots of music and appreciate the notes, patterns and timing
Over time you'll understand

Yes passion is truely important

I don't care if I can't play well in general, can't impress girls/guys, can't even jam a simple Metallica..

..
..
..

but I do know I can nail some Opeth songs perfectly and that's metal \m/
