I want to know how you all guitarist improve your skill over the years (fastest method you can think of)

I am starting playing on my own for now since there are many things to learn and i dont feel like wasting money on tutor just yet.

maybe i will try to find friends to help, so far i am reading the dummy guide for guitar and yesterday i started to tune my dad's acoustic guitar and it was fun and easy (with tuner help).

so please give me your feedback and experience thanks
