I think the most important thing is that you have an objective, whether you have real interest or you wanna impress people. I figured out long ago that girls aren't really impress with my guitar skills if I don't have a handsome face. So I realized I wanna play because I love music. From there I branched out also, learn drums, bass, violin, viola, piano, etc. I don't care whether people won't appreciate my music, at least I appreciate it.
