What I think , when you are planing to do SEO of your company is that:

Before looking for the right SEO company ,you should do your homework,study in detail about SEO.

Try to figure out the common bugs in your site.

Make them give you good on-page optimization.
Then make a deal after they build quality backlinks for your website and bring results.
Don't expect them to bring your site to the fore in a short time.

A friend of mine is an expert in these works. He is currently working on a site where he designs and develops.
