If it happens you dont mind? Then I'd say you're not a responsible owner.
2 Males? Prepare for a dominance tussle between the two of them. |

If you have two males, they tend to fight...but just for the beginning, after awhile, they will settle down and the dominance male would be the leader. If it is too complicated, maybe i just keep 1...dunno that poor fella happy or not coz read somewhere sayin that they like their own company...meaning more dogs If you get them from puppy, then shldnt be any prob.....if one adult and suddenly you introduce another adult, then they sure fight. If one male and one female, no prob. Like husband and wife. his lineage is very good and his temperament is excellence. just want him to enjoy his time before i spay him...(still thinking abt it) it's quite cruel to do this... If you wanna buy a puppy, dun worry abt cert unless u wanna show ur husky / for breeding purposes. MKA takes 9-12mths to come out with a cert...so dun bothered la..... well....just pm me if you r interested. i wil try to post my boy picture tomorrow la..... cheers This post has been edited by nairud: May 31 2006, 04:20 PM |

Only planning for puppies for now...
Wats the use for microchip ??? "Intel Pentium 4 Inside" printed there issit ? I think my house to small...compound used for orchid garden...so its wet and mossy dun think it can run in there...so most time it will run in my house...got big hall though. Behind house got big field...for running...not pooping. Is it hard to handle two huskies at the same time ? Since they are strong dogs... scraed cannot kaotim them... In the field can unleash them and let them run or better to leash them all the time ? |

Every dogs dun like to be leashed.. So, like my dog, i let him wander around in the kitchen only..(later shift new house then only let the fella round around in the compound). Because they are large dogs, space to roam around is very important. They need to exercise constantly.. so, if no space in house, i suggest dun take s.husky.
If u got the time to play or exercise with them, then 2 dogs shouldn't be a problem. That day i saw one lady went jogging with 2 of her s.husky.. super cool!!! |

Anyone interested in a Husky? My friend Terry has found an abandon Husky, Red and white colour.. I got no photos yet but this husky is friendly. He is currently on treatment for some skin infection. Already neutered. If you want a husky, and got ample space and don't mind a 2 year old dog, then PM me as I will need to ask more questions.

This happens when people buy on impulse. Many people these days buy on impulse. Seen it so many times coz of the common mistake of getting them as gifts....:
Want to adopt for bf/gf Want to let child experience a puppy Want a dog to jaga house Want a dog to be companion to someone want a dog coz friends also have dogs These often lead to the dog either abandon on the streets or in SPCA or PAWS. I mean, if we buy a dog for someone or for ourselves when we or them do not have knowledge on the breed or time to care.... then the dogs will just suffer. Children sometimes are not ready for the responsibilities but if the parents are up to caring for the dog too then it is ok lah.... Main point, all parties should agree and share the responsibility of the dog. This Husky.... abandon, skin care neglected... poor thing. Not only huskies.... got german shepherd also(later i post up a pic of the one my friend and I rescued) GR also got.... shih tzus... mix breeds, mongrels, purebreeds.... sigh.... |

Aiyo... who's the bugger that abandoned that poor little husky??? huskies are considered exotic dogs here and are sometimes harder to take care as compared to other dogs such as terriers and retrievers. For those who are interested in taking huskies, remember to really really think thrice before taking one. They tend to have more problems as compared to other dogs if not well taken care of.
As for me, i really wanted to have another husky to accompany my current Nicky, but unfortunatey the fella has demodectic mange. He's still taking medication and doctor's advice is not to take another one as chances are high that another one will be affected. So, sigh.... Cannot do anything. |

Hi,
I have a Husky, 8 weeks old, name's Scotty. Anyone having mange problems with their husky? Also, does their stool seem kinda watery during the day but fine in the morning? Don't think it's diarrhea. By the way I live in DU and it would be great if our dogs could meet up. We could learn alot from each other through this avenue This post has been edited by sayboon: Jun 30 2006, 01:49 PM |

where did you bought your husky from?? DU ^^ i'm juz working nearby...
the stools sometimes might be due to excessive food....meaning you give more then you shud to your husky and therefore, they will poo more....i used to have this prob then i gave lesser and tadahh no more wet poo poo |

QUOTE(sayboon @ Jun 30 2006, 01:47 PM) Hi, Hi!! As u can see, my Nicky is currently under mange treatment.. I can tell u that mange is their ultimate enemy.. Imagine those bald patches on the coat of a husky... sigh... 1 breeder told me that this demodex occurs FREQUENTLY among huskies.. It happens when the dog is around 4-6mths.. If ur dog managed to get thru that period, u are basically safe and will be having a very nice husky (but there are still chances that an adult dog can get mange.). Like me, i am considered one of those unlucky ones...I can say fighting mange is like a long war.. won't guarantee 100% cured. If not properly taken care of, the dog will suffer for his entire life...(and also the owner) I have a Husky, 8 weeks old, name's Scotty. Anyone having mange problems with their husky? Also, does their stool seem kinda watery during the day but fine in the morning? Don't think it's diarrhea. By the way I live in DU and it would be great if our dogs could meet up. We could learn alot from each other through this avenue Anyway, sayboon, may i know what u feed ur husky? This post has been edited by whooi: Jul 1 2006, 01:09 PM |

whooi, may i know where did you get your husky from and how much is it?? cause according to my research, husky is only open to 2 common disease which is something to do with the eye and also the bone, other disease is considered very rare...and i haven't get any of this from my husky and no information from my breeder......and for your info, mine is from a breeder in cheras, bought for 3k+ from champion line

Hi I'm new here - just got a 3 month old husky not long ago - she's really smart and cute but a bit trying tho. she lives in the hse with us - toilet training is killing us!!
Also she seems to itch all the time - no skin patches yet but I'm quite worried - anyone know if this is normal? I gave her tick and flea med that you put on the dogs' shoulder blades but this doesn't seem to be like fleas... I'm really stumped. help will be nice |

lolz, i see, where is he from?? anyway you juz need to jaga jaga abit with the health condition of the puppy lo...but let me tell you something lo...the markings for now is not so important cause they shed once or twice a year which is very very terrible shedding....therefore the coat and markings will change sometimes a little but sometimes very very big difference...like mine, when i got her back, she was a different coat and markings....now its different only after 1 time shedding....so dont get bull shit by them....anyway i''ll be honest with you lo....cert doesn't mean high quality dog, if its breed by someone irresponsible, then they might be in bad condition.... and also normally price = quality....like where i buy my husky, they wont even drop their price by a single cents, and they will proudly tell you, if you wanna compare my dog with the 2k+ dog then you go get from them....cause they're husky is very well known and he's so far the only breeder who wins with husky (for show dog, even though previously there was another husky show dog by another breeder) and you can see, that their dog is really really nice

My advice, huskies are pack dogs, they dun like to be lonely so never keep her in the toilet where they just see the four walls. Not a good idea and when they are upset, they can be very descructive....so bear in mind, dun get angry and start whacking them. If you have cats at home, introduce them slowly. Adult cat or kitten? if kitten, they can grow up together and they will be okie with each other. if you have an adult can, better not la....sure fight and try to introduce them slowly la.....do u have a cage? if not try to invest one....or borrow from ur frend......they grow very fast and the next thing u know, the cage is too small oledi..... btw, my husky stay indor, and already toilet trained, he wont poo at home and will wait till we take him out for his walk.....if he is at home, he will pee int he toilet only unless he is throwing his tantrums.....to tell u that he is not happy.... husky are working dog and they need a lot if exercise...if not, they can be very descrutive and noisy.....so be in mind..... good abt husky is that they dun smell.....and keep them dry and if they are wet, they tend to get skin problem.....rmember, they are double coated...so when they shed, ur hse is full of fur...remember FULL of furs..... dun socialise ur dig befor he gets his 3rd vaccination / jab..... u can call me if u need any info, 013-3338777 (Lau) have fun with ur new family member....maya is a good name, the lead dog in the "8 Below".......movie cheers |

Why'd you black out the background? You didn't buy it from a poacher did you, with all the heads and feet of animals in the background?!
How about putting up more pictures of your puppy, which I'm sure you've taken lots of pics. I did |

diarrhoea.
what are the causes? i read a few days ago in a book, that over eating would lead to diarrhoea.is it true? and maya ate some cat food+trixie's small breed food.. she's a big eater,maya... could it be the over eating,or the fact that she cant keep her mouth out of the cats/trixie's bowl? ofcourse i separate her,but she's sometimes so quick and her mouth is big...one gulp she can sapu 1/4 of the bowl |

yeahh that could lead to diarrea.....juz reduce the amount and it could turn to normal...for better proportion of the food, you can get a scienceplan cup which can be used for weighing the food, for yours, you could look at puppy large breed class and according to her age now (prox 3 months right) you could give her somewhere between 25-50

what do you guys buy for your huskies to play with?
is it OK to buy those BIG bones to let her chew on? i bought a harness for her the other day,but still too big give her a few seconds to walk,it comes off so i'm keeping that till she grows abit more anyway, what to buy to play with her? i have 2 balls, one a squishy(make sound) ball, and another, just a furry ball with a string...she doesnt seem all that interested. also, she loves to take my cavalier's toys.. if she finds a dry leaf, maya would take it from her, play with it for 5 seconds, and go find something else...same goes for anything else trixie finds.. maya would just take it,and play with it for awhile...if trixie takes it back, maya scolds her.. anyway to stop this or make her share the "toys"? thanks |

the bones are okay for them, let them chew on it slowly but nv leave your toy too long with them or they'll lose interest on it,.....anyway your balls, if they're not interested at 1st, its normal but now my puppy loves it like hell |

Hey pet lovers
I've just got myself a Husky and I'm just wondering if any pet experts here know of the proper care and training needed for Siberian Huskies. It'll be nice if someone can tell me its temperament and what should i always do with it! Tx |

Thanks, they are both very playful but fun loving dogs. Btw, my husky does this weird growl (but position like wolf howling) when she is happy. Haha, so cute but the growl is scary.
Wanna ask you all, your huskies know how to bark? Mine does, but a weird barking. My retriever barks better than her though. |

QUOTE(SimonsayZ @ Oct 2 2006, 11:57 AM) Thanks, they are both very playful but fun loving dogs. Btw, my husky does this weird growl (but position like wolf howling) when she is happy. Haha, so cute but the growl is scary. She growls when she's happy? Haha Wanna ask you all, your huskies know how to bark? Mine does, but a weird barking. My retriever barks better than her though. My neighbour has a husky and I've never heard that dog bark before. Ever. Just sits there and stares right back at you. Scary stuff. |

Haha, so cute but the growl is scary. haha its okay when they growl, and well it doesn't always mean she's happy when she growls... for me, bobo growls when she is not happy haha....since husky is hybrid of wolf and dog, so its normal for them..... and i love her for the growl... so dam nice to hear her growl.... nothing to be scared about lolzz...Wanna ask you all, your huskies know how to bark? Mine does, but a weird barking. My retriever barks better than her though. huskies normally dont bark but yes they do..... and their barking is quite different from normal dog barking.... dam i added this link to favourite and it was broken for very long time... lucky i came back to check and juz found out they merge the link... |

hi... huskies - like other dogs - makes alot of noises (though they hardly makes them).
growling, is not good. growling is when they are baring fangs and all - being very angry. growling is the sound/noise they make to warn others "not to come near". huskies are generally friendly dogs. to encourage huskies to be vicious and angry all the time is no good. hence, growling too much is no good. i think what you mean is "mumbling". but again, mumbling is usually not made when he/she is happy. they mumble when they're complaining! huskies LOVE to howl (although mine has yet to want to howl). howling can be for nothing, out of nothing, or a call to their pack. huskies do bark. unlike many beliefs that huskies do not bark, they do. to grab attention, to be rebellious and argue back. there are alot of sounds/noises that they make. i might have not listed everything down (all these are based on the sounds/noises my 2 darlings make). |

oh yes... Kosmos & Chaos have hiccups all the time. because they don't like to drink water. i have to force them to drink water. and yes... eating too fast will also cause hiccups.
Kosmos drags me along during her runs. and she's only 6 months old. i cannot even run as fast as her jogs. *sigh* Chaos is too young to be brought out of the house yet (Starbucks not included). p.s. YES.. Liverpool was damn lucky Solskjaer wasn't playing! hahahhahaha!!! |

Haih, i love Husky also, but too bad i've decided that i love maltese more, we do not intend to have more than 1 breed, taking good care of maltese already very tiring! Juz hope that one day i will have a bigger compound, then maybe i can take in one husky.

man.. u're even quoting Kojima Hideo... u're one hell of an MGS fan... so is my fiance! he cannot stop playing! he just can't stop even after the Boss has died!
anyways... ya... Huskies make really bad guard dogs. they are NOT supposed to be guard dogs. do they even KNOW what huskies are for in the first place?? *gosh* well... maybe it's my fault. i like to let them drink from the bowl. like Maya, they'll start digging the bowl and splashing water all over themselves. so, i make them drink from the bottle. they're both better now. especially Chaos. she knows how to drink properly from the bottle already. |

for those who feed their husky w bowls of water...do u knw u can train ur husky NOT to dig into their water bowl? what i do innitially is monitor everytime my husky goes into the kitchen to drink...i will sneak up 100% of the time when she heads for the bowl...when she starts diggin...have a firm NO!! remove the bowl n puts in down again...repeat till she drinks normally....n praise...
but if she's outside of the house...she's allowed to dig all she wants!!! n SHE KNOWS dat!!! she only digs outside n not when she's drinkin inside!!! |

Huskies are working. that's their purpose in the first place. and since we're not exactly "working" them, we will try to give them enough exercise to burn off their energy.as for drinking lots of water. if they are used to the bottle, they'll know how to drink from the water. why do they need alot of water? because of our weather. because we have humid and hot weather. they'll need alot of water for them to recuperate from the heat. fortunately for my kids, they are air-conditioned 24/7. and now, only out in the porch, they drink from the bowl. in the house, it's from the bottle. and when we go out for a coffee or 2, it'll be from the bottle. |

It is not uncommon for husky to sheds lots of their fur at our hot climate. Do you provide your husky 24 hours supply of water? My husky stays outdoor, I will give him a brief shower during afternoon and allow him to enter the house when i'm at home.Worry about electric bill for aircond? Buy Panasonic aircond with inverter technology, on 12 hours a day at 25 degrees, one month only cost RM20+ |

well for husky they not necessarily to be air-conditioned. All they need is a good shade and a lot of water, cuz they tend to drink a lot of water when they are hot and i mean a lot. Hopefully your place have a good shade and wont give up on ur nice little doggy..

wateverzz : JD's bright blue eyes are really really pretty! When I have my own house next time with a large compound, a Husky is a must have.
acid_head : nope! Just a good shade and water is good enough like said. Remember, WATER not only fpr huskies but for all dogs. They can go without food for a day but not water. Its a must! Regarding Air-Con, according to the pet shop, if they are locally bred, its not nescessary. If imported, they may need it more. Regards, |

Sigh Sigh how bad is his HD? if i've read correctly, your JD should only be a few months old. if so, no one can confirm HD unless an x-ray shot has been taken to confirm it! it could be signs that COULD lead to HD. if that's the case, put him on glucosamine supplements. and watch his weight. he shouldn't be too heavy. and at the same time, you do not want to malnurious him. glucosamine will be a life-long thingy. and you should start him on glucosamine as soon as possible. if you keep him indoors, shave his paws regularly. leave him with super short fur on his paw pad. if you shave too bald, he might bleed when out for walks and get infections. you can also try to discourage HD. if your dog is sleeping like a suckling pig, correct him. shift his backside to one side and let him lay on his side-buttocks. if the HD is severe, there are ways to correct it. read this for surgery methods. note that in Malaysia, there are only successful cases of Femoral Head Removal surgery. if possible, get some Aussie surgeons to look into your case. many vets have visiting surgeons from Australia now. do check with your vet. Then he told me he should reduce weight for 2 weeks and give him less movement for the 1st week then onli bring him to walk on the 2nd week. After that he told me to go back for check up 2 weeks later and give me 2 kind of pills one is Coatex another is Synoquin(dunno whether its the correct spelling or not). According to him as well before my dog go for x-ray he have to take some kind of injection. Is it true? i'm not too sure which vet you go to. but basically, yes, true. HD can come genetically, and can be caused by our flooring. Any of u guyz pet have HD b4? How u guyz deal with it? Haiz feel so down right now.. unless your vet has x-ray vision, i would not say that he has done a perfect job at identifying HD problems. HD cannot be cured just by taking supplements and pills. HD can only be corrected surgically. i'm not too sure what coatex is, but searching from the internet, coatex is for coat and fur. that has NOTHING to do with HD! Synoquin is one of the best supplements for joints problems. it reduces the PAIN! Synoquin is the brand of the supplements. it contains both glucosamine and chondroitin to produce joints fluids for your dog. it produces more joints fluids for your dogs to make their movement less painful. THAT'S ALL! it is a supplement and not a medicine to cure. and joints problems here also means arthritis. if your dog hurts when walking and/or jumping, and especially having a hard time trying to get up after his sleep, that could be signs of HD. because the femoral head is dislocated from the hip socket, your dog will find it painful to move after a long rest. hence, the supplements to produce more of these joint fluids help them move less painful. HD is not a weekly or monthly problem. it is a lifelong problem. hence, we need to give continue to give them glucosamine supplements to help them. and the proper way of introducing glucosamine to your dog is to double the dosage daily for the first month, and then have him on maintenance mode for the rest of his life. when your vet says "improvement", i believe he means if your dog moves with less pain. that means that glucosamine is working. but surgical correction is still recommended if the case is a severe case. and supplements should be continued! Synoquin will cost around RM300 for 120 tablets/capsules. if you can't afford it, you can also give JD Ark Natural's Joint Rescue which will cost you around RM80 for 90 chewables. you can try other brands, but i suggest sticking to one for at least 6 months before trying something else. in general, glucosamine is good to maintain joints for even an healthy dog. yes, you dog must be sedated to have his x-ray taken. the docs will have to stretch his legs straight in order to get a clear picture of his hips and legs joints. an awaken dog will not lay quietly to let the docs take that shot. Added on February 24, 2008, 2:49 am QUOTE(acid_head @ Feb 23 2008, 01:15 AM) x-ray only meant for bone checking? izit? wat it related to HD? erm.. acid_head, i would suggest you read up a bit more on what x-rays are for for general knowledge. you can even learn more about it through medical tv series like House MD, ER or Grey's Anatomy. sorry ya, i dun hv much of med knowledge and for your info, HD is a bone/joints problem. Here's my 2+months white male husky name HESKEY
You can see that it has a bi colored eye. One which is blue and the other is brown. I read some articles that this could be due to several reason of which one of it could be eye disorder. I did some checking to test on its functionability. Luckily both are ok. Sorry for the blurred pics as it was taken via phone camera [attachmentid=461873] This post has been edited by gcheelim: May 5 2008, 04:54 PM |

QUOTE(sh3ryl86 @ May 6 2008, 12:12 PM) Thanks. actually i got this husky from a friend of mine who is a small breeder himself. he has another full white female husky. Both eyes are blue but he's not selling that one. Wanna use it for breeding purpose.QUOTE(remymj @ May 6 2008, 03:16 PM) because of its age and fear that it might get stolen, yes, i keep my husky indoor. at first i put him in a cage but he grows too fast. Now I have place him in my kitchen area with fence all over the danger spots. there's no air cond but i've installed a ventilating fan to keep the kitchen cool. ________________________________________ frankly speaking, i'm very surprised with the intelligence of huskies. within days after i got him, i taught him to pee and do his biz in the toilet (my kitchen area can access to toilet) and he's a very fast learner. Now, every morning i just need to flush his urine and s**t in the toilet and it saves me a lot of hassle. Cheers! |

Do you provide your husky 24 hours supply of water? My husky stays outdoor, I will give him a brief shower during afternoon and allow him to enter the house when i'm at home. Worry about electric bill for aircond? Buy Panasonic aircond with inverter technology, on 12 hours a day at 25 degrees, one month only cost RM20+ |

Probably is because your husky step on something and gets infection, or maybe she loves to play with water and makes the paw always wet and encourage skin diseases. Best is to find out with vet since it occurs frequently.

Just to share with you how the husky looks like in New Zealand. In the picture is my nephew and neighbour's dog. Because of our hot weather here, our Malaysian Husky will never look as fluffy like that.

Yap, in fact most breeds of dogs at cold countries are very well coated, last time my dad imported GSDs, they look so great! But after a while their inner coat drop off, still look nice lah but then the coat not as nice already lor.

I am having problem with my 3 month old husky's appetite now. All of a sudden, he refuse to eat his usual dog biscuits (Eukanuba). I have no problem feeding him and he is very interested each time when i'm about to serve his meal. Frankly speaking, some people fed him with other food (apple, rice..). At first, i thought he might have dental problem since he needs to chew the biscuits. However, he still manage to eat those edible bones. Now, the only way to make him eat his to crush the biscuits and mix with water (or milk). I am not sure where went wrong.
This behavior is worrying me cause it only happened in a space of 1 week. Can someone tell or help me with this problem? p/s : You can view my husky (named HESKEY) in my earlier posts. Thanks! |

hi,
just joined the forum. usually hang out at the mypethuskyclub where we share our knowledge and experience about our huskies. a few points to share.. 1. husky's eye color (blue or otherwise) doesn't mean it is more susceptible to eye problems even though huskies are known to be prone to this problem. bi-eyed huskies (both eyes have different colors doesn't mean there is a problem with one of the eye). 2. sometimes as puppies the eye can be blue in color but as the puppies grow up, the eye color can change. only when the husky is about 6 months or more, than the color tend to stay that way. 3. huskies and malamute look very much the same at a quick glance but huskies are much smaller physically and have shorter coat than malamutes which is longer and more wooly. malamutes should not have blue eyes which is considered as a defect in the akc standard. anyway here are my huskies, shina and rei. ![]() another pic of rei. ![]() |

white siberian huskies do not have markings like the rest and usually their coat is also not as thick. i would say that gcheelim's heskey looks like a typical white husky. |

I just brought back another Husky today. She is a retired 4 years old Husky from breeding, currently is not in good condition but i'm sure she will improve and grow as healthy as my Kenzo! The purpose of bringing back this Husky is to find her a good home, but we are not in a hurry. We named her "Marimo".

hi babymiki,
yeah, it's a pure white husky. so far, Heskey has been quite obedient but i got a bit worry now after reading the recent story on the missing of Sha Sha. normally i will walk Heskey without any leash and he won't go any distance further than 10m from me. maybe i should get one for Heskey soon. gcheelim,
hesky is really beautiful.. it is always safer to walk him with a leash cos no matter how obedient huskies can appear to be, when their natural instinct kicks in, like when they see a cat running, they will chase after the cat...and you won't have time to react to it. That is very very true. I tried once off leash my Kenzo, thinking it is safe cause that area is something like a dead end, with the only opening is to cross over a longkang which is quite wide. Kenzo never appeared to be able or dare to cross over these longkang. That time, a cat appeared, and he rush towards the cat, hoping over the longkang, which is right beside a main road! It was a very dangerous scene and I admit that it was my fault for being ignorance. I will never let my dogs off leash again unless it is within an area which is totally dog proved or we are 100% sure it is safe. Don't take any risk.

Don't take any risk. yup, when they want to chase something, everything also they can do..high jump, long jump, hurdlesand 100m sprint all at the same time. but when the usual walk, small longkang oso like big parit to them and they give you that "you must be mad if you think i can jump across this longkang " look. |

I just got the certificate 3 weeks ago and it's confirmed that Heskey is a pure Siberian Husky. Here's a recent picture of my Heskey |

not recommended to keep in toilet cause the floor quite cold at night. barking when you caged him is common. let him get used to the cage, so you wont be headache in the future. if you do not practice caging him now, you will find difficulties to cage him in the future. another way is to potty train him so that he will be able to run free in the house

1. When the puppy arrives home, he may pee on the floor. Put a stack of newspaper on top, turn it over and let it dry.
2. Put the stained newspaper at the specific spot you want (doorsteps or corners). DO NOT change the spot occasionally. 3. When the puppy woke up from sleep, bring him to the spot and wait for him to finish business. 4. When he finish meals, bring him again to the spot. 5. When you notice that he wants to pee or poo, bring him again to the spot. 6. You have to be consistent and pay more attention to his behavior to ensure that he is able to learn where to pee and poo. 7. DO NOT scold him or beat him if he did wrongly. Praise him when he did his business at the spot. Give him some snacks or verbally praise him if he manages to do it right. 8. It is not necessary to buy the housebreaking spray in the market to help out with this training. That spray may only helps out for 50%. 9. If your living room is quite big, please place a few spot as the puppy won’t be able to run that fast to the specific spot to pee and poo. If he couldn’t reach the spot, he will just do it on the floor. Based on my own experience la |

QUOTE(Viperize @ Oct 2 2008, 10:52 PM) Thanks junnie, i will try this method... i think it will work just tat need sometimes to train Husky" .... now Husky can understand my word "NO" dy haha But it's abit hard to train husky to pee on wee wee pad cause it may take up the whole piece of it. What i'll do with my husky is, open the door to my porch and let her out to do her business. Once she is done, she will come back inside the house. Oh yea.... one more thing... how frequent a husky nid to bath ? And also any brand of dog food suitable for them ? Im giving him Eukanuba brand dog food & [Brewer's Yeast & Garlic with Linoleic (Omega 3,6,9,Fatty Acids)] As husky's coat is double coat, it's quite hard to bath them. I'm bathing mine 2 weeks once. Regarding dog food, you can try to "upgrade" to upper range like natural balance, eagle pack, orijen and evo. Those are dog food with better ingredients. If you want the skin and coat to be nice, feed your husky with cod liver oil too. Hope this helps |

Without MKA, the price can be as low as 1K-1.2K but it depends on the age of the husky. Most ppl prefer huskies when they are 2-3 months because they are said to be most receptive at this age. Nevertheless, training a husky can be very challenging and it's not for anyone who is impatient and don't have time for them.

Normally, when a pups bite our hand, I will recommend to put some vinegar on the hand and let them bite. Perhaps you can try this way on your lab's back leg?? But remember wash the vinegar off after you tried it with the husky yai m having a tough time teaching my husky ....i realize that he is very very stubborn compares to other dogs ....i tried scolding him ...i tried hitting his mouth whenever he bites ...he knows he is wrong but he will still do it the moment i look away ....he likes walking behind my lab and bite his back leg...when my lab gets angry ...he will run away ....after that he will do the same thing again ....he will follow him from behind quietly and bit him ....i pity my lab.....how to teach him? |

Hi fellow husky owners.. I'm getting my very own husky in 11 days time
1) The pup is only +2mths old, what kind of dog food do I have to get? wet or dry? any specific brand? 2) The pup had only his first vaccination, when should I bring him for the 2nd and 3rd? 3) I've read that huskies don't need frequent bathing. How often you guys give your huskies baths? any specific dog shampoo? 4) Do you keep your huskies in cages? or they should be left to roam free in and outdoors? Please help a soon-to-be husky owner here |

Their fur is too thick to be dry off by themselves 4) Do you keep your huskies in cages? or they should be left to roam free in and outdoors? If your pup is well-trained, no harm in letting him to roam free only if he behaves well. Please help a soon-to-be husky owner here |

I noticed some of their mouth is longer than the other. The shorter mouth ones look nicer.
I know ppl usually keep their Husky outdoor, but also heard they are not suitable for guarding because they're quite laid-back and lazy. If keep outdoor, got chance of being stolen? |

QUOTE(orangecow @ Jan 26 2009, 06:04 PM) Depend how u see it.In standard, consider they are medium breed. Juz for imagination, the male dog when standing up (by holding it up) it can be as tall as some adult bt they r very friendly dog juz pretend to look fierce. Bt still in some pet grooming shop, they consider as large breed and for shih tzu, they consider as medium breed. The only small breed they consider is chihuahua and all puppy stage of the toy breed. Hope u will own this pup. Life will be different with this pup. |

Well, I own a husky and I would suggests that the expenses to own a husky is much higher than to purchase one. My husky, Kenzo eats 3 times more than the total of what 10 toy breeds eat, and still want more! Imagine the expenses as we are feeding BARF.

So jealous your husky will eat.
I must always sit around her to ensure she eat finish all her food since whenever nobody not around her, she will think that we all r eating in the kitchen n wanted to eat human food like us. Juz enquiry, do u know where we can buy the barf diet and how much is cost??? since i wanted to change her diet as the current hills product contains grain and easily caused the dog to be overweight. and any recommendations where to buy it??? |

When I went to SS2 yesterday, I saw something like 5 - 6 HUGE Huskies being led out of a pet shop (after grooming) to pee pee before being led into a van. They are just so beautiful.... totally not agressive even though there are lot of people around looking and cars zooming past. I've always thought Huskies are quite fierce...

Though it sounds cruel, I've heard of a certain operation that can be done on dogs to remove their ability to bark. I believe those are for extremely cases only. Are you really really sure you want a husky when you live in an apartment? If you don't have the patience to train your dog not to bark, or do other destructive things, I suggest you better not get a dog cos it is a lot of commitment. This post has been edited by yktan: Feb 2 2009, 09:07 PM |

Hi,
I'm a new husky owner.. Just bought my red white Husky; KeiKei last 2 weeks.. She's 6 weeks old now. Been told that she's a championbreed. but shes very lazy at home.. even whn i call her also, she wont come and just lie down on the floor all the time..Very rebellious..if i scold her, then she'll bark back. i'm feeding her on Hills. But heard ppl say that it;s not the good brand as it will make the poo smelly and dog wont grow. So, any good suggestions? |

if u want good food, u can try using orijien or acana puppy formula.
If u can afford, u can try letting the dog eat addiction but it kinda expensive. Not really expert, but your husky pup is exactly the same as mine. Instead barking, sometimes she will bite me back. However, u must show her who the master is or u know what will happen in future.... Added on May 2, 2009, 7:56 pmohh ya .. post some of her pictures, wanna to see her beauty since she is a championbreed This post has been edited by yuen300: May 2 2009, 07:56 PM |

QUOTE(ncm83 @ Apr 29 2009, 04:19 PM) Hi, Hills S D is OK brand. Alot of sponsorship n endorsement doesnt make it a good brand.I'm a new husky owner.. Try Timberwolf, its the closest food to the wild. http://www.timberwolforganics.com/s.nl/it.I/id.53/.f Rating Hills vs. Timberwolf http://dogfoodchat.com/hills-science-diet-dog-food/ http://dogfoodchat.com/timberwolf-dog-food/ This post has been edited by ChelseaFan: May 25 2009, 03:04 AM |

My friend's dad is a Husky breeder. Recently, his female husky delivered 9 puppies. 2 died and 7 survived.
The remaining puppies are 3 male and 4 females now. He intends to give me 2 females because my wife and I like Huskies. Problem is I already have 3 westies. I am so tempted to take them. Still giving it a lot of thought of whether to take them or not and at the same time, helping my friend sell puppies - so if anyone interested can PM me. We only wanna sell to genuine dog lovers. We live in a gated community. It is safe to walk our dogs without leash. I walk my westies without leash about 3 times a week. They are obedient but they do run after cats (poor cat...) A month ago, while walking our dogs, my wife, sis and myself noticed that a neighbour has brought home 2 huskies puppies. We adore it very much. We noticed that the puppies are living in 2 separate large cage outdoor. The only shade it has is the cage's shade. I thought of having the same setup when I get my own huskies from my friend (like I said, still thinking since I have 3 dogs already...). I probably have to invest in a cage like them but will need to ask them what is the cost of the cages. My house has a large compound of shade, purposely renovated it so that we can have function / parties without setting up tents. So far, my house area has been safe but to think to keep the huskies outdoor when they are bigger... Would it be alright? My neighbour seems fine with it. Husky or no Husky? Someone help me!! |

I've been walking a beautiful female Husky for my neighbor. However, about 2 months ago the Husky gave
birth to 6 puppies, tragically ended up all dead because of premature birth. Since then the owner refuse of let me walk her again because she just receive injection and has shown signs of aggression. I've checked online and generally it'll took 2 weeks for a dog to recover and they'll be ready for walks again. Now the owner still refuse to let me bring her husky out, 2 months already still keep in cage of course more aggressive Anyone can provide some guide? |

Too bad it belongs to your neighbour not you. Perhaps you may be a better owner to care for the dog than to only cage it. Why dont you speak to your neighbour? It's not your fault if it gave premature birth, right?

I was the one who notice that there's a dead litter in the cage when I'm about to bring her out... now still got trauma. Her dad was watching TV when she delivered... without a proper whelping box. Not perhaps, I'll definitely be a better owner. Has any of the Husky owners tried mushing? You know being pulled by the dogs when on a bike / roller blades... Seem interesting enough, they made a sport out of it rather than a sled race.q

The Husky was born 2 weeks ago. Initially, my friend agreed to give me 2 huskies but then now my sister wants a GR. So maybe we take 1 husky only and then my sis will buy a GR. We already have 3 westies at home, so you can imagine our house full of dogs! The kind of house I always wanted to live in. Luckily Husky dont eat much but cant say the same for GR.i afraid you will have fun in the beginning, then suddenly your husky saw something interesting (assume is another lenglui/ lengchai dog)...they get too excited and they just run...then you might hard to control them if you are cycling or etc...because you yourself will lost control too...haha...hope you get what i mean ya... do more research about husky...their personalities and etc o~enjoy and post some pics of your husky Yes, I know how to take care of puppy, worry not. I also research and seen many documents and video on Husky. When I groom them, I will hug them with my legs crossed to ensure they dont move about. I dont groom, I just furminator (imitation cause cheaper) to comb out all the dead hair. Will post some pict when I get them is 3 - 5 weeks time. |

oh...envy lo...haha...have a husky pup...wonderful...i do love to have another one..to accompany my husky...but wait i have my own house first
when they shed...the "real" furminator does help...i've ask those professional groomer...they actually told me that those imitation furminator (which you can buy it at Pet Safari in Ikano) can't really work...i mean of course the real is the best...but too bad it is not sold in Malaysia...so i get help from a friend of my in Singapore to buy it for me... enjoy every moment with your husky pup...because they are naughty and adorable... |

Remaining 6 will sell. when they shed...the "real" furminator does help...i've ask those professional groomer...they actually told me that those imitation furminator (which you can buy it at Pet Safari in Ikano) can't really work...i mean of course the real is the best...but too bad it is not sold in Malaysia...so i get help from a friend of my in Singapore to buy it for me... enjoy every moment with your husky pup...because they are naughty and adorable... Furminator original or imitation, I used before, it is the same. Lowyat forum got one girl sell furminator last time, forgot her name. If you look at the Garage Sales and search for husky, you should be able to find a few buyers. That is the market price for Husky and most likely my friend will be selling around that price, or possibly even higher cause his dog is very nice.
I will post up some pict when I manage to snap some in end Oct / early Nov. |

I pick up my female black + silver + white husky last night and brought her home. It's been a long time since we had any puppy at home.
Unlike my other dogs, she really whines and howls a lot. Probably not howl but yawn loudly and long almost like crying, so we took her out of the cage and let her sleep in the master bedroom toilet. How do you train to let your dog sleep in the cage alone? I am quarantining her away from my other dogs until she get her vaccinations. Husky expert please advise. |

i am not a husky experts although i own a husky
she howls because it was her first night at a place which is very new to her...new environment...give her some time...my husky only howls for 1 night...then she become as active and happy as ever ^^ and i don't think many dogs love to sleep in cage...they might feel afraid or isolated...do let her roam freely in the house or a room if you don't mind... enjoy with your pup ^^ |

QUOTE(Vinci777 @ Oct 26 2009, 11:20 AM) haha...they used to sell...but not now... Hi there,i've asked the staff there...now they only sell those pirated furminator...haha My friend is a user of Kudi Pet, and her dog is a GSD. And two of her friends are using it too, each owns an Alaskan malamute and 3 golden retrievers respectively. She says both her experience and her friends’ experience have been positive so far, that it does work. Her dog was shedding lots of hair in the month of August. Her friend then suggested she use Kudi Pet, which she did. Her dog hair shedding problem has been minimized and is now much better since then with constant combing. She said she has not tried the “original furminatorâ€. So she can’t really compare. But Kudi pet has worked for her so far. Comments from her friends are the same. They told her they can even see the super fine hair when they comb their dogs, which minimizes the problem of hair flying around and sticking to their working pants. So she assumes they have no complaints so far. She says the only drawback is the constant removal of hair from the tool only after combing 2 times. It’s quite hectic. Other than that, it’s been performing well. |

It's easier said than done to ignore all her crying because it is very disturbing and loud and some times I feel wanna push her cage into the store room but ventilation is poor there. Oh well, just have to bear with it I guess.

Oh well, just have to bear with it I guess. yes, it true that it is very disturbing. one way to made it less noisy is to put some toys inside the cage to stop her. by the way to tell you last time i bear for 3 days of husky howling in my house but stop later when it know that i will open the cage let her out on the morning. what lucky me is that most of my family are heavy sleeper, they say they did not hear any voice in the night. guess is lucky for me. |

I found the reason why Nico, my new husky is howling at night. It is because she poo and pee, she wants people to clean up. After you clean up, you are allowed to sleep, else you will suffer my wrath, my howling!!

I'm From perak and I have a 8 weeks old huky puppy. Its a cute male. so im just searching if there are other huskies in ipoh. Maybe when snowy is old enough, they can breed or maybe they can spend time playing. Puppies love company, especially with other dogs which they can play with(My snowy goes crazy and fun around other dogs.. =))
