is the ticks serious?...if not just get rid of the ticks using spray or tick collar...not to shave bald on husky unless they have serious skin problem like demodex

only shave when they are seriously infected with ticks or fleas and after shave...it takes forever for their coat to grow back

you can view this link for the reason why a husky cannot be shave bald ya

Wow, I am glad I posted my intentions in this board before taking them. Thanks for the advice. I didnt know it would do more harm than benefit. I will refrain from shaving her and get her tick collar and etc. Thank you.

I love westies but now I am getting free huskies. I have no problem providing them a place to stay but sad to say as big dogs, my huskies are required to live outdoor.

I am planning on renovating a small back end corner of my house to keep my westies out soon. Still under consideration.

Giving them kibbles, showering them and cleaning up after is a joint family task. I enjoy showering them while my sis prefers drying them. Huskies has a plus point here is that their coat dry up so easily.

Besides that, I let my westies roam around a small area of the house while Nico roam the bigger half. Due to lesser time training Nico, we decided to go with the trolley system.

haha...penny...you will regret saying that husky coat are easier to dry...as now they only have their puppy fur...after 4months...they will shed off their puppy fur...then start to grow back...their fur will be veryyyyyyyyyy padat...

and i most hate to bath my girl because i can't even see her skin...will be very tired to bath her...and dry her need another hour+ too

provided my girl is a wooly husky...her fur is more...and also longer compare to husky

Coat
The coat of the Siberian Husky is double and medium in length, giving a well furred appearance, but is never so long as to obscure the clean-cut outline of the dog. The undercoat is soft and dense and of sufficient length to support the outer coat. The guard hairs of the outer coat are straight and somewhat smooth lying, never harsh nor standing straight off from the body. It should be noted that the absence of the undercoat during the shedding season is normal. Trimming of whiskers and fur between the toes and around the feet to present a neater appearance is permissible. Trimming the fur on any other part of the dog is not to be condoned and should be severely penalized. Faults--Long, rough, or shaggy coat; texture too harsh or too silky; trimming of the coat

Vinci777,
Can you post a closer picture of Demon? It does look with thicker fur from the small picture in your signature if that is indeed Demon.
Haha, I really do feel that Nico coat is easier to dry compared to my westies. No joke leh.

We just brought her out on another cycling adventure, the distance is about 1.5km and we make stop every 500m.

When we stop, we let her explore the area on leash. She would drag us around while one of us pour water onto her bowl. Then let her drink water, rest, sit by the park, and continue on our journey.

Another 500m, we stop again and give her water, train her to play with the playground, bench, etc (those bench and other stuff which you can find in stadium for morning ppl to walk, stretch, do sit up, etc).

Brought her home and leash her to the gate and she pee'd and sat on it. ALAMAK!!!! So, I took the hose and turn on the tap, sprayed her with water kow kow. She is enjoying it. She doesnt avoid it. When the water kena the face and head, she will shake. Otherwise, she will give me that "nah nah, shoot laaaaa... loser" look.

Then she shake, dry up a bit, we put her under the fan and let her dry. Now she relaxing and biting her rawhide. Bahagia...

user posted image

still can grow longer but behtahan...too long afraid she will feel hot...haha

Nico love water then its good...my girl love rain...but hate when i spray her water...she will avoid and run here and there...imagine i will be totally exhausted after bath and dry her unsure.gif

I wish nearby my housing area have a place for them to walk or run or at least hang out...so sad...

but if there is any event, or husky club gathering...i will always try my best to make it...~she love to go out...haha

Hi Vinci777,

Wow, Demon really wooly wor. Nico and her sister, Sophie doesnt look like that. They look more like what "cphcphcph" posted above.

Their coat cant probably grow any longer. This morning Nico poo by the gate and stepped on it. Luckily she didnt went far before we caught her so got ourselves a cleaning job to do before we leave for work.

I am planning to get a Karcher high pressure jet cleaner to clean away her poo, else my outdoor tile becoming very dirty with the just normal wash from a water hose. Flies start coming, damn!

Long time I havent brought my Husky and Westies out together. Tomorrow I will try to see if they get along. Good thing is my Westies walk off leash. Husky cannot lar.

ya...most of the time when ppl saw Demon they will thought its alaskan malamute...because alaskan is also have long fur... and wooly tongue.gif

actually in husky, wooly is consider a faulty breed...because they are sleding working dogs...but she do not sled...she is faulty or what...i don't mind...i just love her of what she is...hahaha

i think when Nico grow older she will not step on her own poo anymore...because husky love clean...maybe give her some time lo...haha...now you just have to be busy abit cleaning her when she step on her poo

and no worries...though husky is rough...but if they get along since pup with your westies...i think they will be very close...everytime you put them together...make sure you are be with them...because they listen to you...haha

I also thought Demon is a Alaskan Malamute but couldnt think of the breed name earlier.

No la, I dont think it's faulty. If you check back at My Pet Husky Club, its stated that there are 3 variants - Show, Standard, Sprint. Refer to URL: http://mypethuskyclub.com//index.php?optio...d=27&Itemid=133

When Nico first came, her stool was hard and in-shape. She used to eat her own poo. Now, the poo is soft and watery, she avoid them. But out of excitement, she would some times step on it. Yes, I have seen her avoiding her poo before, but excitement will cause her to step on it. Given some time, she will probably learn.

From the link you showed me, Demon look like the picture labelled Fox. Black and white is nice oooo... Anyway, like you said, wooly or not, fault or not, it's still Demon! Make no differences.

I need a 10ft dog tie out. I bought one from Pet Safari but they ran out of stock. Now I am looking for the second one. Where can I get one of these within Selangor / KL?

http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2755035

Seapark Pet Supplies has 15ft but those are too long and they will reach my garden. Thus, I need a 10ft.

Added on February 26, 2010, 10:09 amMy this month water bill came out to be RM146, thanks to Nico.

Isn't it too hot for them in Malaysia. If not, I don't mind owning one soon. biggrin.gif
but still prefer Shiba-Inu.

Our weather is ok since most of them are locally breeds and hav been used to staying in our country.

They hav double coat which help them to keep their temperature from heat and cold as well. You may b surprise that they can withstand more heat compared to some other dogs.

However, just dont put them under real hot sun and make sure they have PLENTY of water. They really drink and play water alot when given the chance. I use a fan blowing around the area to cool her down just to be safe because even they could stand the heat, no one likes being hot esp in Malaysia. biggrin.gif

And yeah, shiba is cute as hell. Wanted to get 1 in the future as well.
