i bought assembly kit 1/144 scale.
su 27, su27b, mig 29, su34. but no time to build.
get the 1/72 su 33 (j15) bcos it come with fying deck.
hence J15 is my last aircraft.

consider the diecast & paint job, i can said worth it. base included as well.

seriously, make me wanna get him.
better than my diecast J15, with poor paint job, but cannot complaint muach since the price is half of it.
after think about all the job of paint & assembly...better get die cast instead of plamo (without stand)..but RM really weak & the box really huge. cry.gif cry.gif

Here you go, that the cheaper Su-34 I can find in TaoBao.
No only fair price, is because guarantee ship packing make sure the model won't break.
But because of the packing so the package become bigger. sad.gif
Your choice. smile.gif

Around RM178++ not include shipping price. Better than local pre-order is expensive for sure.

I think not, Europe all buy US F-35 series.
That why they don't research any stealth for now.
That what the news always said. hmm.gif

Strikermac, it look like you are very keen in China aircraft. There is one shop in Berjaya Time Square selling a lot of China fighter but they are all in 1/48 scale the only 1/72 scale they are selling are mostly FOV models. By the way the name of the shop is call Graffiti Hobby R/C Centre.

i think europe does not see any necessity into developing fighter aircrafts with the typhoon and tornado already available. the cold war is over and in all honesty, nobody's gonna wage war against big brother. the big stick (nukes) is a huge deterrent and with their floating airbases spread all across the world, it'll be suicidal. rules of engagement has changed tremendously ever since the vietnam war was waged and let's be honest, who else has the kind of firepower that big brother has? the ussr has split and along with it, all its assets... and many have become big brother's allies. so no, there's no real need to develop fighter aircraft but there's already a whole lot of r&d going on for on-ground unmanned combat that's highly classified as that's where the next battle will take place. think "robocop", and it's not as distant as you may think.

Not really sign0006.gif lah dude.
At least we still talk about aircraft and relate with future collection release. biggrin.gif
Well said anyway. But except Japan did buy F-35 still research their own stealth fighter.
Also Korean do the research. Keep eye on China and North Korea may be? hmm.gif
Anyway if they keep research new aircraft, sure model will come out soon. brows.gif

japan stealth fighter not really new la. as you pointed out. kinda like what they did in the car industry... now you have the compact fighter aircraft category laugh.gif

and am i the only one who thinks the f35 is a joke? i think the other countries are only buying it because of the lack of viable alternatives. look at the entire design... it looks (and is) so unstable with its stubby stance and not much else. it'll be a sad day for collectors in 10 years. it'll just be f35s, f35s and more f35s... in fifty shades of grey.

Ya, compact fighter. laugh.gif

And yes even China J-31 was a "copy" F-35, at the latest Air Show chinese research team said their J-31 were better than US F-35. sweat.gif
Oh well hope so anyway.

And the J-31 diecast model can be found at TaoBao now.
Any fancy want to get it? brows.gif
2 different type so far.

those detolfs are deceptively heavy! but at least it's split into two parts... unlike the billy bookcases! sweat.gif

p.s. that "off topic" was meant as a warning that MY post is off topic. oh well... what's modelling without displaying, right?

Ya i know but they talk bunch of quadcopter and and non-scale stuff. So i ran here hehehe.. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

I don't want to offend anyone with R/C model in this topic, but i will show planes that looks realistic and scale only so it will offer real life feeling of aviation hobby and appealing to scale modelers . So beautiful real planes have its rights. No fughly quadcopter for sure hehehe..

Oh btw you can buy locally at http://www.rcsmart.com.my

Nowadays most r/c models looks as good as scale models so the will look good both on the table and flight. All models today runs on electric turbine cost at RM150. Some models required further painting while other looks as good as out of the box. Price range between RM150 ~ RM800. Fine molding foam technology made it possible to have realistic panels and lining on these models. The all have realistic landing gear, payloads, wing surface movement, lights and etc. So nowadays i like both looks good and also can fly. I like to take action photos too rather than statics. smile.gif

Yes LanXiang are expensive but you can buy kit version only for under RM450 without electronics and still have load of functional details in every corner of the plane. at rcsmart.com.my there a plane BAE very small and very scale that fly too and people mistaken it as model plastic kit.

Actually the bigger they are the easier they fly because more wing surface to get stabilzed life in the air. Thats why you see many old people in youtube can fly because their plane big. But i fly small budget ones. Still you're lucky to like today because there lots of under USD$40 flight controller that electonically help you to fly and stabilized your clumsy hand on stick. So flying today is easier than old days. If you crash just use hot glue and the plane still looks great because its all made out of foam, the same packing foam you found on box tv set packaging.

Oh btw here some poisons compliments from my hangar on warbirds :

how much does a full ready-to-fly set cost? i noticed from your earlier postings that the hobby shop sells the sets with certain items "not included". and also, which would be the recommended bird for newbies? much as i like the modern day jets, it's the props that seem more suited for newbies, no?

Sad news from yesterday.
Counting on airliner crash and missing in just 1 year start from 2014 March,
we lost 5 airliner, 2 from our own country, 1 from Indonesia, 2 from Taiwan.
RIP..... sad.gif

assembly jet cost + paint + time = diecast.
assembly kit more weight, fragile & dint come with stand.

after consider this issue, i better get a diecast.

What I think is the aircraft itself not detailing enough yet. Can see some of the part look "fake"... hmm.gif
May be because Chinese militia & gov control their "classified" aircraft for the model production.
Or... still in research aircraft not yet the actual aircraft yet, so the model also can't do detail.
What I suggest is wait for little longer until the real actual aircraft release then the model will be update.

Ya, Russian Jet. thumbup.gif
I still find Su-35 or Su-37, if really hard found may be will add Su-34.
Actually also like to add T-50 PAK FA, but seen AF1 product the aircraft little bit fail. sweat.gif
So wait for other brand production and also F-35B. brows.gif

BTW if want to add chinese aircraft in actual not prototype may be can add J-10.
Even EM also did product it, and sure is chinese first self research aircraft that nobody complain. smile.gif

it's probably a hybrid... canards from the eurofighter, single engine and rear stabiliser from f16. but overall design... i feel more f16 than typhoon because of the single engine configuration.

What most news media said is
J-31 = F-22 + F-35 (copy kao kao)
J-20 = F-22 + MIG Project 1.44
J-10 = EF-2000 + F-16

hmm.gif
Only J-10 didn't get complain shoot, the others 2 was copy tech.
Anyway hope chinese don't always copy,
do something that would proud and acceptable by other countries.

Hi sifus,

Me and a bunch of friends is thinking of buying an aircraft model kit for another friend who loves aircrafts for his birthday.

This is going to be his first model kits. We are quite certain he is too lazy to be bothered about painting.

So the question is, anyone have any good recommendation on model kits that doesn't require painting?

Looking at F-22 or F-18.

Juz my suggestion, if don't want to do painting job better buy die-cast model,
Pre-painted model kit is very hard to find.
Pre-painted model kit example F-toys & TomyTec Gimix was 1/144 scale.
user posted image

If going to buy model that didn't need painting and assembly only die-cast will do,
can refer back our sifus' collection. And better buy 1/72 scale main stream for beginner.
Hobby Master got a lot of F-22 and F-18, Witty Wings also another nice one.

And yes also can wait more sifus suggestion. Good Luck then. icon_rolleyes.gif

*Edit:
BTW, forgot to ask, when his birthday coming?

If going to buy model that didn't need painting and assembly only die-cast will do,
can refer back our sifus' collection. And better buy 1/72 scale main stream for beginner.
Hobby Master got a lot of F-22 and F-18, Witty Wings also another nice one.

And yes also can wait more sifus suggestion. Good Luck then. icon_rolleyes.gif

*Edit:
BTW, forgot to ask, when his birthday coming?
*
I'll look into die-cast then.

His birthday is around late march.

Thanks for the suggestion.

Juz my suggestion, if don't want to do painting job better buy die-cast model,
Pre-painted model kit is very hard to find.

Hi guys, want to ask for opinion about this one worth it or not?
I found this from local seller, Altaya Su-35 1/72 scale metal diecast,
for RM190. Can see the picture most of the parts can't adjust,
juz a display metal model. So in this price worth it? hmm.gif

i think rm190 for a diecast su-35 is reasonable but i gotto caveat, i have not seen altaya's detailing and finish. perhaps comrade deathsoul can provide insights since he's the point of reference for all things russian...

Ya, that why I ask here for opinion before I really plan for buy after that I afraid for regret.
This brand Altaya really was hard found, even at TaoBao (aircraft model).
But seen this also a magazine collection model actually only available at France.
So the detailing can't ask for more, but don't know what is the really price sell on France. sad.gif

hmm.gif strikermac... you only need two considerations, really:

1. you like
2. within your budget

but hopefully some other forummers have experience with altaya to share with you also...

if me i will buy to check how altaya's detailing and finish is. it's not necessarily a conclusive reflection of how they are as a brand, especially if their qc is erratic, and sometimes, it depends on which model/production. like fov for example... the f14s are duds, but the f18s are quite good actually. and besides gaincorp... there aren't any worthy russian diecasts out there, imho.

oh no! just did some background check, comrade. this altaya is kinda like our fighter aircraft collection by allscript and was retailing at €13.99 (about rm60). that will probably give you an indication whether the rm190 is justified sweat.gif

they do have some pretty nice looking models in there, though. the ones you're interested in are issues #10 and #62. i kinda like issue #66!

Ya, detail photo so can see the disadvantage very clear.
Example cockpit can't open, no pilot, all wings are flat can't adjust.
Anyway, still planing for it but sure after CNY.

Ya, that why I ask for worth it or not... RM60++ actual price.
If AllScript really will import and translate this magazine into english,
and sell it around RM70~80 only, I sure will wait no matter how long.
But hopefully that is impossible... sad.gif

altaya jet some can consider since not many other manufacturer doing the model. but be inform that altaya jet mostly plastic with very minimal diecast metal. it much better than amercom jet and its in 1/72 scale.. the landing gear can be taken out to display in flight mode tho.

Thanks for the review info comrade deathsoul.
If the price drop little around RM120~130 I sure make quick deal without asking. tongue.gif
But seen after found some Altaya aircraft sell at TaoBao more expensive than local,
I still will consider.

To be fair, 1/72 Frogfoot is hard to come by in kit form locally. Manufacturers that came out with Su-25 designs in 1/72 such as Zvezda, Kopro, KP, Hobbycraft, Italeri, Revell etc are still inaccurate by the rivet counters' standard. Getting an Su-25 in die-cast alleviate such problem dealing with what could be done to make it accurate (as possible). One could just bought one, play for a while (engine noise optional, but highly recommended), and not to worry of the inaccuracies since one paid quite a dough in getting a die-cast Su-25 and just assume it is all good laugh.gif

And being the only one with die-cast Su-25 compared to other manufacturers, Altaya is okay for what it is worth. The landing gear covers are rather impossible to come out without prying if displayed in flight mode, do bear that in mind. The pitot tubes are rather thick (by scale standard), but I would rather it be a bit thick than those things snapped and flew off by the flick of one's finger tongue.gif

If you fancy ugliness as adowobel, then it should be considered (if could be found locally) wub.gif

Personally, I am digging those shark mouth decals, it make quite a difference in terms of appearance,

hehehe... you forgot italeri. i think italeri is below amercom. although better load out, no landing gear and generally detailing not as good as amercom. what say you? and it's hard to put fov in that equation also since their tomcats are cw wannabes but far from it but their superbugs are pretty impressive. so for the fov tomcats, i'd rate it on par or below af1 (although af1 doesn't produce tomcats, but i think you know what i mean in terms of general quality), with the exception of their jolly rogers tomcat which is WAY below italeri rolleyes.gif as for their superbugs, it's up there with witty, and perhaps up sikit hmm.gif

thanks for the review, tiger I!

my take is that being one of those "with magazine" models, i suspect, as what comrade deathsoul mentioned, that it's mostly plastic with minimal diecast too. well, with a retail price of rm60, something has got to give. we had the fighter aircraft collection for rm29.90... so the question is, would you pay 3x the retail price for an amercom model from the fighter aircraft collection? from my personal experience, i think 2x is still reasonable if it's a model you really really like... but 3x is pushing it a bit far. likewise, i'd probably grab an altaya at rm120 max. but that's just me...

OK, about Gaincorp Su-34, I suggest don't buy at local, way too high price tag.
Better buy at TaoBao, I did have website for you all if anyone interest.

Without shipping fee is RMB306

And the I give you the local who sell Altaya aircraft, have a look.

Trust me, if any seller is selling Altaya at MYR 120.00, I bet it would sell like pisang goreng laugh.gif The beauty of Altaya is that it provides aircraft with lower price (supposedly, if it were available in Malaysia) and with never-before-released like the Foxhound. IINM no other manufacturer did that in die-cast. Kudos on them for that. But like stated previously, if one is spoiled with the details and more percentage of die-cast, surely Altaya would not even be bothered tongue.gif

hehehe... you forgot italeri. i think italeri is below amercom. although better load out, no landing gear and generally detailing not as good as amercom. what say you? and it's hard to put fov in that equation also since their tomcats are cw wannabes but far from it but their superbugs are pretty impressive. so for the fov tomcats, i'd rate it on par or below af1 (although af1 doesn't produce tomcats, but i think you know what i mean in terms of general quality), with the exception of their jolly rogers tomcat which is WAY below italeri  rolleyes.gif as for their superbugs, it's up there with witty, and perhaps up sikit  hmm.gif
*
italeri dont have in 1/72 scale. for me i put FOV slightly better than AF1 and below witty.

sadly f35b is supposed to replace the superbugs... but there is still strong resistance. even the eagle/strike eagle operators are resisting the change to the bloated toad, it seems... and they're thinking of an upgrade to the silent eagle instead.

I think is their packaging problem make that weight.
Cuz last time I order my gaincorp Su-43 & F/A-18 from them also over weight,
so I use ocean freight for that time.
But the packaging real good, guarantee won't break or damage.
Relax and wait your Su-34 ya. thumbup.gif

Nice one.
BTW juz a little confuse, where is actually Su-34 ladder must place?
What the research most is actually Su-34 cockpit entrance is behind the front landing gear.
user posted image

So is should look like this....
user posted image

Anyway, juz a research, must see if the ladder can put it that way.
Still nice man. thumbup.gif

Surely the IRL pilots would feel weird the first time getting on the Fullback, with getting into the cockpit via somewhat irregular method tongue.gif

At least the inside of the cockpit is roomy enough to allow the pilot to lay down for a rest in a long mission

witty is becoming an endangered species already. company closed down so whatever stock is left, that's it. no more. grab 'em while they're still available. it's amazing how in just over a year, models that were priced at the low end of rm200 is now fetching close, if not over rm300 now. amazing. it's becoming a pretty expensive hobby, this...

by the way, does anybody know... is terebo ex gaincorp? or is it the company that produces models for gaincorp and af1? hmm.gif

comrade blu3hamm3r, they're amazing! it's a pity you're letting them go to focus on your other interests, but i'm sure you'll be making a lot of people out there happy admiring (and perhaps getting for themselves a couple of) those awesome birds. bye.gif

for those who may have missed this opportunity, do have a look at comrade blu3hamm3r's sales thread at https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2253228 for some rare (but extremely reasonably priced) items. hurry, while stock lasts.

p.s. this is no april fool's prank as i bought a couple of rare pieces from him already. he's a collector and has taken good care of all his models (some may never have been displayed but only taken out for photographing). good luck, guys!

find this J20, everything can be open, unlike the plastic assemble kit....no missile pod & open hatch.
the price is cheap, but shipping for this diecast sure need to paid rm 60 or more.
now the bigger problem is GST & kastam.

sure, not at all, free market, yes?

MYR 200.00, a fair price I'd say since most of Altaya's offering here in Malaysia is around that price.

No no no, their old problem, wrong decal words.
Our aircraft right decal words is "NO STEP", the white decal words around the aircraft wings.
But their still write it wrong like their old product F-35B, the words is "NO STOP", that was so wrong.
That AF1 F-35 series problems... sad.gif

LOL.
that decal so small, i cant even notice it.
but actual product for 1/72 scale is way small compare to the photo (zoom out)...very hard to notice.
The paint surface also rough if u look close, this is bcos diecast used "Bake Paint" technique.

but still looking good, since it offer inter changeable gear.

comparison between Altaya 1/72 Su-35 and Air Force 1 1/72 Su-35S

with both being around the same price, and if you are collecting Su-35, these two would be a good candidate (if one is lazy to do model kit, like me for the time being laugh.gif)

another offering from Air Force 1 with their camo-ed Su-35S is not recommended (heck even this aubergine colour is tad too dark, but I don't mind) since the bort no is not available IRL (from my understanding), non-camo-ed for the bottom of the plane and overspray issue

will probably get another 1/72 Su-35S from Hasegawa, just to complete it into a 3-plane flight biggrin.gif

not sure whether bort no. 21 exists but the early operational jets delivered to the russian air force has non-camoed belly. only the demo proto 902 has full camo (the paint would've weighed down the plane and provided less flexibility with regard to weapons load). personally, i find the af1's camoed version nicer... although yes, it does suffer from overspray (as do their pak fa). overall a nice model except that little attention has been paid to the underbelly with huge seam gaps between the metal and plastic bits... not to mention the exposed screws. the load out seems to be an afterthought too... all white with a dab of black about the tailfins. will try to post pics of the bird soon...

From what I can (or can't find) in the net I don't see any Su-35 21 red. Many in forum also agrees that such bort no doesn't exist. I am all for existance IRL tongue.gif With regards on the seamlines, screws, and missiles, those doesn't bother me that much since I won't be looking on that area that much. In any case, I am getting Hasegawa 1/72 Su-35S as well, to match with both of these. Would probably go for aubergine with 07 Red, or if I am feeling ambitious, camoed version with bort no 902 biggrin.gif

yups... here's the list of existing flanker-e (up to feb 2014): http://www.mars.slupsk.pl/fort/sukhoi/su-30-ru-27m2.htm

there are however 12 more to have been delivered in 2014. not sure whether 21 would've been in that fleet... but more likely it would've taken on nos. 01-12 (as per their predecessors). so yeah... probably no 21. even the first 4 spotted different camo than the 902... although there are pics of the 06 in similar camo to 902 rather than the dark grey/aubergine stated in the link. oh well... the ruskies don't post quite as many pics of their jets than the yankees do. rolleyes.gif

With regards to that, let's just leave it there for the time being. Surely there will be bort 21 laugh.gif

In any case, without the seam and whatnot, I do find it to be acceptable (or maybe I am contempt since this is one of two Su-35 I have own, without any comparison with other manufacturer/s, such as Witty Wings), personally biggrin.gif

Yeah, that's a bummer, and with WW going bankrupt, this is even a bad news. Surely AF1 will up their game in future releases since others are not producing more Russian birds :/

That is the thing, but seeing the trend now, it is unfortunate that we are stuck with this scenario. Either one goes to model kit, or succumb to the scalped price for Witty Wings nowadays :/

Or get AF1/Altaya, but with lower QC as compared to above.

yeah... it's a pity that hm seems to be steering away from 'em russian birds. af1 and tarebo are ok at best... not "sharp", if you know what i mean. altaya ain't exactly cheap in the market either but yeah... the prices today are quite exorbitant. in fact, it's been appreciating quite steadily over the past couple of years. cw's used to be in the price category that hm is now occupying just a couple of years or so back... and witty never exceeded rm200 a piece. those were the days. just over the years the value of my collection has appreciated by at least 30%... and the early collectors would've seen a 100% increase or more!

yeah... it's a pity that hm seems to be steering away from 'em russian birds. af1 and tarebo are ok at best... not "sharp", if you know what i mean. altaya ain't exactly cheap in the market either but yeah... the prices today are quite exorbitant. in fact, it's been appreciating quite steadily over the past couple of years. cw's used to be in the price category that hm is now occupying just a couple of years or so back... and witty never exceeded rm200 a piece. those were the days. just over the years the value of my collection has appreciated by at least 30%... and the early collectors would've seen a 100% increase or more!

I never ever trust Kangaroo express on their service,
the worst express in our country, never heard good feedback at all.

Hello~ smile.gif
Yes, so far most of the Taobao seller use chinese words on their product,
so the page is hard to use english I think. hmm.gif
What HM stuff you want?
If you don't mind, can buy some at local shop/website, check below:
http://www.myhobbyhouse.com/
Click in Hobby Master will find some. Good Luck.
