QUOTE(ciahcra @ Apr 10 2015, 04:16 PM) Never been to Hokkaido, but yeah, ski resort are more expensive in everything. I did spent around 10k for 2pax though for 4 days short trip to tokyo Most of them were on food So my spending is considered OK because I thought mine is bad. Around 4.2k (excludes flight and accommodation) for 9D8N at Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka. Stayed at my friends' house in Tokyo and Kobe.

QUOTE(intothefantasy @ Apr 17 2015, 03:17 PM) just wondering, iijmio sim card can be reloaded? like i buy it now and wanted to use it later on december. can i just buy the reload instead of rebuying the new card again? i saw the brastel thing but i am not sure how it works..are they the same thing? Brastel is for calls option only. For data, I don't think it can be reloaded.

QUOTE(PhakFuhZai @ Apr 18 2015, 01:01 AM) that one is about RM30 more than the So-Net option anyway since Japanese LTE operates at 2100 MHz Band 1, I wonder if our phone support that band that means it should work anyway I was using it on my iPad Mini and it has LTE.

I love Kobe maybe because I stayed there and my friend is there, I feel carefree when I was there. She's always there to bring me everywhere and fluent in Japanese. It's really a peaceful city and my friend said she makes the best decision ever for accepting the job position in Kobe rather than Tokyo. She was studying in Tokyo for 2 years and she dislikes that kind of hectic life. In Kobe, everything is slow and steady. Moreover, she's earning the same pay scale as Tokyo folks, so why not? She brought me to a Sushi restaurant which is just opposite of her apartment and it only costs 1000 yen per plate for all choices. We ate our heart out.

I had 8-piece sashimi for 1000 yen at Tsukiji Market. I don't know how to appreciate sashimi but since I thought I was in Japan should try once before I left.

QUOTE(limchee @ Apr 24 2015, 05:03 PM) Anyone been to Ghibli Museum and Fujiko F Fujio Museum? If I only have limited time and can only go for one of the above, which one will that be? I went to Fujiko F Fujio Museum because I'm a huge fan of Doraemon. I like the place but my opinion could be biased.

QUOTE(PhakFuhZai @ Apr 25 2015, 11:36 AM) although now a visa is no longer needed, but upon arrival at the immigration checkpoint, do we need to show proof to them the amount of cash, bank statements, etc, to proof that we do not go there for "jump aeroplane"? Not needed. Free and easy, once allowed to go in is 90 days. This post has been edited by fruitie: Apr 25 2015, 12:44 PM

QUOTE(Sniperwolf1987 @ Apr 25 2015, 02:33 PM) U bought SIM card directly in airport? How much it cost u per day? My friend helped me to buy during her trip, from Umeda Osaka. The bad thing is it cannot be bought from airports but it is sold in most of the BIC camera shops. Around 4.5k yen if I'm not wrong, 2GB for 3 months validity. Info on first post, Iimjio SIM card. So of course need to wear winter clothing. I was in Osaka in early Feb this year, to me it wasn't as cold as in Tokyo probably the wind was stronger in Tokyo.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 11 2015, 09:44 PM) I am comparing between Iijmio Travel Data sim Plan at Page 1 and this mobile wifi: http://www.otsinternational.jp/otsrentacar/en/wifi/If I get the mobile wifi, do I still need to insert a local sim card to my phone? I wiki-ed that mobile wifi is a mobile router. So bascially mobile wifi is useless without a data plan, correct? Mobile WiFi is basically for you to share data. However, these days MiFi comes with apps and you can use it to receive/send SMS.

QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 11 2015, 11:03 PM) do i still need to have at least one phone with data sim or it is built in with the mobile WiFi? If you want to make calls, then MiFi is not capable to do so. If you just want data, then MiFi is fine. MiFi also accepts SIM cards that can make calls but it just locks to data and SMS (using apps for some MiFis) but cannot make outgoing calls.

QUOTE(rxy @ May 12 2015, 12:24 AM) I think mine has embedded chip. Does getting a visa means easier access to their public transportation system (foreign only rate) and also tax free zone (cant rmb saw from where). No ah. Just show your passport and they will flip for few pages if they want and you will get those passes at discounted rate.

QUOTE(rxy @ May 12 2015, 12:45 PM) Thanks both for replying. I am staying for about 14 days. And I am only travelling within Osaka, Kobe, maybe Nara and Kyoto too. Which pass would suit me? Travelling in a group of four. THanks. Kansai Thru Pass for the win! I love this pass so much and I was in Kansai for 5 days, so bought one 3-day and 2-day ticket.
