Telcos to reduce broadband service charges
http://www.thestar.com.my/News/Nation/2015...reduce-charges/

Telcos to cut broadband rates by more than 6%
http://www.thestar.com.my/Business/Busines...ates/?style=biz
*
if not mistaken, they give out 6mins sms and free call for every each RM10 reload

10RM+0.60gst. they give u 6mins sms and call --->> must be same network
20RM+1.2gst 12mins sms and call.

seriously telekom malaysia is the one who should reduce their charge first. retain selling price while giving add-on gives pipul no choice since they monopoly the market./ doh.gif

anyone received call 20mbps for RM149 per month??

According to Dr Halim, the value of the reload is identical to the value prior to GST implementation; the only difference is GST is added to the reload amount.
Starting today, customers who reload RM5.00 and above will be given an additional value which is higher than the 6% GST in the form of free minutes and text messages, MCMC said. This will apply for three months beginning 3 April 2015.
In a meeting yesterday, the four mobile operators and Royal Customs and Excise Department have agreed to this treatment of GST on prepaid reloads.
MCMC added that a survey will also be conducted by the Telcos to assess if customers prefer lower reload values on which GST will be charged. For example, a RM10.00 reload could cost RM10.60 (RM10 reload plus 6% GST added) or instead of paying for the reload with GST, customers would pay RM10.00 and GST will be deducted after reload (RM9.43 reload plus 6% GST added).
On a another note, MCMC said that the industry is working to develop more affordable broadband packages for the people. This is expected to be announced in mid-April. It was reported that charges for broadband services are expected to drop by more than 6%. Currently, all broadband plans pricing were up 6% since April 1 with the implementation of GST

Cheaper rates for Internet broadband soon
BY JOSEPH KAOS JR
broadband packages, meanwhile, will start at RM38 a month for 1Mbps speed, which is a 57% reduction from its current price of RM88 a month.

As for high-speed broadband using fibre optics, Ahmad Shabery said a 10Mbps package currently priced at RM199 a month will be reduced to RM179 a month.

The new rates are expected to take effect “in a month or two”, Ahmad Shabery said.

“Affordable Internet rates will allow more people to have access to the Internet in our efforts to become a digital nation.

“Good Internet service and cheap rates will also make the country attractive to foreign investors, and it will also help spur the economy as well as enhance the lives of the people,” he said.

He added that the telco industry should also increase investments to expand infrastructure in order to improve the quality of Internet services.

However, for packages of higher speed and quota, Ahmad Shabery said its rates will be reduced in the future.

Telekom Malaysia has announced that it is introducing two new fixed broadband packages, saying it is doing so ‘in full support of the Government’s move towards boosting broadband take-up’. The first of the two new plans will offer downlink speeds of 1Mbps and carry a 1GB monthly data usage allowance for MYR38 (USD10.40) per month; the telco claims this price point is some 57% lower than the cost of its existing 1Mbps entry-level service. This new 1Mbps plan will reportedly be available to consumers from 16 June 2015. Meanwhile, TM has also unveiled a new tariff for those looking to connect via its fibre-optic high speed broadband network, with a UniFi-branded triple-play package offering a 10Mbps downlink rate in addition to fixed voice telephony and IPTV to be priced at MYR179 per month, around 10% lower than the current MYR199 rate; [COLOR=red]the new pricing will become effective from 15 July 2015.
Commenting on the decision to amend its broadband packages, TM’s Executive Vice President, Consumer and SME, Imri Mokhtar, was cited as saying: ‘We applaud the Government’s move to drive broadband adoption, and to increase household penetration from the current 70% in a shorter time … We believe the new 1Mbps package will motivate customers to move up to 1Mbps to experience higher speeds at the same price albeit with the 1GB volume capping – especially those who are currently subscribing to the 384kbps package. Whilst the new 10Mbps package will also help encourage those who are already enjoying high speed broadband to further enhance their experience.’
