Update:
iFlix has also revealed its monthly subscription rate which has been set at only RM 8 per month .
Interestingly, iflix didn’t actually ask for any payment details during sign-up at this moment. Instead, users are given a 15 days trial for the service and they will have the option to pay for either monthly or yearly subscription fee only when the trial period is over. However, iflix didn’t announce the actual annual subscription fee at this moment.

In case you have not signed up for the iflix Private Preview session, you don’t have to worry as it still can be done so via its front page.Once registered, you will receive an invitation email with a link to sign up. An account lets you stream on two devices at a time, and allow up to five devices to be registered, though the device count is not yet active. Once it is, you can only change one registered device every 30 days.

Besides the web player, you can access iflix on Android and iOS. The fully-featured iflix will have HD videos, subtitles, and a way to cache videos (on the mobile apps) for offline viewing. However as of now, all three features are not yet present. Each video of 90 minutes in length is around 700MB in size, and the bitrate varies according to the quality of your connection.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

A new startup called iFlix Asia, under the Catcha Group, will be launching its services here as soon as March of this year and it already has an office in Mid Valley City.THE new Asian-based video-on-demand company to be launched by Young Rich Lister Patrick Grove.

According to a report in the The Australian(paywalled), iFlix has already negotiated deals with Warner Bros, MGM, Primeworks Studios, RedBull TV and Starz for content. This will allow iFlix to compete with cable and satellite television operators in the Asian region.

Aside from Western programmes, iflix will also bulk up its collection with Asian programmes, ranging from Cantonese-language Hong Kong dramas to South Korean hit series, in order to compete head-on with its bigger and more established rivals, it was reported.

The initial Malaysian service will offer 10,000 hours content of which, 40% will be from US, 30% from Asia and the final 30% will be from the domestic Malay market. iFlix intends to implement the same formula for the future, in the other regions that it launches in.

iFlix Asia believes that its streaming service can play an important role in addressing the rampant piracy issues that is besieging this region. It believes that the iFlix’s low price point and the advent of mobile devices+connectivity will stave people away from purchasing content in illegal forms.

At launch, the iFlix service will be offered at US$ 3 (~RM 11) a month with no contract and will allow subscribers to stream on 5 devices per account; 2 simultaneous streams. iFlix will also offer something that Netflix currently does not offer; the ability to download content now and play them later. iFlix Asia is calling this a revolution in entertainment .

Grove plans to expand iflix into other parts of Southeast Asia over the next three to six months and is betting big on the region’s booming smartphone usage, which could hit 700 million by 2019, according to a report.

“One of the things we love about Southeast Asia is that it’s now a bigger market than America. 700 million people here want to be entertained on their phones, but there are only 280 million people in America,” the entrepreneur-investor said. “Netflix can be the pre-eminent product in the developed world and iflix will be the equivalent in the developing world over the next two years.”

ran a few shows on both PC and android phone. the interface is very similar to netflix. of course the selection is still limited because its on trial, so i popped a few shows to test things out.

well the buffering is almost non-existent. i just click a show and it starts almost immediately (at lower resolution, then gradually improves in under a minute). so it's fast. heck, even scrolling to specific time doesnt hinder the playback. something thats a bit annoying with netflix because buffering can take up to 2-3 minutes for me.

i havent had the chance to run at 1080p TV yet, but on my 720 it looks great and smooth. i wish it has a better option for me to choose on resolution rather than "high" "medium" or "low".

tried to play two malay movies but it gave me an error. it doesnt bother me yet.

and most of the movies are uncensored. tits everywhere. but some shows like Spartacus (tv series) only have the censored ones.

Just tried the preview... watching the show Black Sails... while it seems like uncensored, there is actually censoring going on, i noticed some chopped up scenes... only some tits were left uncensored, but they weren't very obvious to begin with lol.

And words like "c*ck" and "p**sy" censored when spoken. :/

The actresses in the show quite hot, so censoring their beauty is quite a crime!

Just an update. I got a reply from iflix customer service. They do not support android box at the moment. But they are working on it. So for now, you can only stream from HP, tablet and PC.

I have already tried it. Yes, there is may be out of date movies, but at least the put an effort in getting the original movies for streaming in malaysia. You can't expect they gave unbeatable offer since they were still new.

I like where they have old 'KOPITIAM' series (joanna Bessy, Rashid Salleh) and other previous sitcom where we can watch it again.

They promise to upgrade in the future. Just tell them what you are not satisfied at feedback section. Don't take them like ASSTRO.

My 2 cent.

Just tested, quality seems ok but:
1) Selection very few compared to NETFLIX
2) Not all movies/tv shows has subtitles

Still have way to go to match NETFLIX..but for RM 8, it's ok. Just not a real substitue for anything.

the preview content is still up to 720p max, while most older content are 480p. 1080p will only be available after the full subscription service is opened.

i'm not sure about censorship, because its a bit inconsistent. spartacus is fully censored, safe for TV. but some movies like Supernova (james spader) is uncensored (tits and all).

Tried it on my android phone.

Quite a range of content for starter! Cool to see that we have this kind of service to cater our market.

Cons for now:
- No subtitles
- No rating system
- No chromecast support
- Lack of local / Asian content
- App is flickering like a dying old grandma

Oh well. Maybe I'm too used to Netflix.

some forummer here offering 1 year netflix @RM100 as promo. that translates roughly RM8.30 a month with better catalogs. Drawback is that you only need to buy/use VPN.

Good move to 'localize' the 'netflix experience'. But for the time being need to have a wait and see attitude for this iflix.. dun want it to be a white elephant project.. hehe

Oh well.. maybe im just too used to Netflix and Huluplus already. But hey, as long as they can bite a chunk from Asterok monopoly then its fine by me.

Trying it out now streaming over net using a PC; Silverlight plug in ;
streaming step up /no stuttering or weather issues like Astro
Tm Hyyptv should talk to these guys, so that we get the best ,from streaming tv

I like the model of of only paying for what you watch, rather than Astro swindle of channels available but at the moment can record 2 channels and program.

I had streaming issues on netflix two weeks ago.. Always stuck at the 25% mark and needed to restart my netflix a few times to get proper streaming. Now seems to be working properly streaming in HD. Im using unblock.us VPN btw.

Update:
iFlix has also revealed its monthly subscription rate which has been set at only RM 8 per month .

This will allow iFlix to compete with cable and satellite television operators in the Asian region.

user posted image

That sucks and we’re really sorry to hear that because we are all about the awesome videos.

To resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps below:

1. Make sure your device is connected to the Internet
2. Close and reopen the app
3. Reboot your device
4. Delete and reinstall the iflix app

Hope this helps but if there's anything else, please let us know - we're here to help!

so little movies for them to start the business, they claim to have 10,000 hours of movies, i think 80% doesnt suit my taste or language, then minus off those that i already watched them either in cinema/download/youtube, i think less than 1000 hours where it can be picked from.

And most of the video i tried are pretty low resolution, i think its either same quality from those u can download from the net or worse. Lets hope they do improve their movie database.

so little movies for them to start the business, they claim to have 10,000 hours of movies, i think 80% doesnt suit my taste or language, then minus off those that i already watched them either in cinema/download/youtube, i think less than 1000 hours where it can be picked from.

And most of the video i tried are pretty low resolution, i think its either same quality from those u can download from the net or worse. Lets hope they do improve their movie database.

I signed up and went to take a look. The idea is great (to challenge Astro) but the contents are very limited with mostly super old movies.
I didn't find a single video that I would like to watch.

Unless they beef up contents, they are doomed to failure.

they are still early after launch. so far looks promising.
i think i will hold off for about a year before coming back and think about paying for it laugh.gif
if they dont put more content, rm8/month for this also not worth it.

Or u can share with another person so each person RM4/month =P it can be installed onto 5 devices and at anytime only 2 can be streaming.

The interface isnt too bad for now, but a little bit later its not good, cause for example like now u see 5000 movies in their DB, everything seems new to you for this moment, but after 3 months, everything seems old to you and u cant filter out just the recently added movies.

I have resolved the screen tearing issue on my PC. If you are using Window 7 like me, you need to go to Personalize->Themes->Aero Themes

Do not choose classic Window theme as it will cause screen tearing when you watch iflix. Hope this helps

Safari, Firefox and IE browser you need to install Silverlight plugin

However I find the siliverlight player does not ramp up to good quality video unless you put to to 80% of your PC screen size.

Chrome browser gives the best quality video. Even better can chromecast to big TV.

Quality is truly abhoring. It's like watching a VCD. Ughhhh not the package I want to sign up for and not the manner I want to watch my favorite movies.

The content is incredibly lackluster, to me. The comedies selection is poor with not all of the latest seasons for current shows in and for older shows, there's only FRIENDS worth watching. I see Frasier but no indication if all seasons are included.

The drama selection is equally pathetic. Bits of here, there and all over the place. Nay thus far.

Even some of the episodes arent properly titled or mapped, ie stargate atlantis season 2, episode 20 actually is episode 19, 19 is 18, 18 is 17, somewhere an episode is duplicated.

I have full stargate atlantis season1 -> season5 thats why i know.

For android app, they sometimes crash, sometimes the progressbar freezed(wont show up again).

As for the app feature, couldnt search, couldnt know what new content has been added, couldnt choose quality(like youtube, incase slow bandwidth), ...

Generally, they need alot of improvement, and 15 days trial ... i think i manage to watch all movies i interest within a week, what is the point for me to pay after that ? =P

Well for rm8..cant expect much really. Movies not new and as for series, newest also is serow by 1 season. No sport or other forms of entertainment channels. So..it all depends on how large and how often they update thier contents

I see. Thank you for sharing.

Looks like Netflix is still the most preferred streaming video service for now (Arrow Season Two, AGENT of Shields Season 2, etc)

I say give it a couple of months. There are already some great shows which are exclusive to iFlix such as Black Sails and they've been adding a lot of stuff recently. Weigh that against RM8 without the need for VPN etc. and it's actually a good deal.

I see. Agree with you. Give a couple of months to conclude.

Meanwhile, the other streaming video service offers:

Netflix: 1 year rm150 (The king of media streaming)
Hulu Plus: 1 year rm120 (Latest TV Show and TV Series)
Sling TV: 1 year rm120 (Live TV with 25 channels)
VPN: 1 year rm120

EPL = NBC Sports (RM120 for 1 year subs)
Champion League = WatchESPN (RM120 for 1 year subs)
La Liga / Serie A = beIN Sports (RM120 for 1 year subs)

VPN is required to unblock (RM120 for 1 year subs)

Yes, HD quality if speed is above 5 mbps.

You can signup for free-trial now, but TV shows seems 1 season back dated. e.g. Arrow S3 ended on 15th May, 2015, but they only have 2 seasons on iflix

As for censorship, there's seems to be censoring titties, just tried Black Sails S1E01, any frame with titties gone

I wrote to them about chromecast some time ago and great to see that can cast to Chromecast now on Android.
Few issue though, won't keep history thus can't resume where I stop in the video played through Chromecast.

Hi sifu's can someone please help me out have a few question here, is netflix officially launch in malaysia yet? Like can just sign up, pay and watch? Bcs i am a I.T noob the last time i googled about netflix, they say you need a vpn and other things that i dont understand.

2. does iFlix have the gotham series?

I am now looking for alternative to watch tv series & movies, bcs i feel Astro is sucking my money and giving me shit in return. At the moment i am paying almost rm150 a month for movie & sports package and i have absolutely nothing to watch during the weekdays. All the movies are being repeated over and over again. The thing that really piss me off is there are so many good tv shows out there but Astro are repeating old antic tv shows like ally mcbeal & darma & greg etc etc. Now i receive a brochure they have gotham tv series and other new tv show but you gotta pay a additional rm 15 per tv show. FARK YOU!!!

AFAIK, there is no news about Netflix coming to Malaysia anytime soon. Singapore yes, but not Malaysia.

Not a pro myself, but you can subscribe Netflix and watch it in Malaysia by using VPN. Desktop browsers would be pretty straightforward. Install chrome extensions like Hola(although not too secure) or applications like VyperVPN(need to subscribe annually) and choose to connect from any country where Netflix is available. Bear in mind you have to have a valid account laa.

For the TV apps and all, must do some setting to the router and all I think. Not too sure about that.

Regarding Gotham, I don't think iflix have it at the moment. You may wanna try emailing or writing to them on FB, requesting for this. Who knows, they might just listen to you. Heard from friends that iflix do take complaints and suggestions quite seriously. Can't say for sure though since I've never wrote to them.

1. You can buy Netflix from bergman. Find him in lowyat garage sales.

2. Hulu is the best for tv series. Netflix and HBO NOW are the best for movies. Gotham is available on Hulu. Subscribe Hulu and HBO NOW from me.

To get a DNS service is VERY EASY.
1) Choouse a DNS/VPN service (i recommend DNS like UNBLOCK US).
2) Subscribe and create an account (there are free service, but don't expect good performance).
3) Either:
a. Change the DNS of your IP to the DNS provided by the Service and Log into the website to activate your IP address
b. Some service have a PC software which can download, configure once and just activate easily either manually or automatically. It will even change the DNS for you.
4) Start your NETFLIX/HULU whatever.

Agree. Even without iflix, it's still a bargain. Just bought the CC+iflix last week and so far satisfied with CC. Iflix? Emm no feedback yet, although last night enjoying banana in pyjamas haha.

Just subscribe NETFLIX/HULUPLUS lah...Iflix is rubbish. You're better off watching Popcorn time for free.

You can get cheaper options if you look hard in Garage sales. Many VPN/DNS are free or relatively cheap anyway. Still cheaper than Assteruk with much better contents!

iflix not bad, but too little shows already, the series also not alot. Hope they will add more content into it.

Btw I got mine free for 6 months, comes with my s6 edge plus phone lol.... But right now I would only pay RM8 a month to watch the movies I want to watch and unsubscribe the following month cause really too little show. All showing old show.

RM8 is like that bro. Can't complain, somemore 30days trials, must support it, reason, to prevent others like Astro for example from being monopolize it, farking expensive.

Hei..today while watching iflix. I go do clear browser history. Then it ask me to sign in again for iflix. Once i go in, it say

"You have exceeded the number of allowed devices (maximum of 5) for your household"

How to solve? Using unifi does not require sign in..just enter iflix url and play. now it come out this error
