HI All,

Just to share my review of D05 after changing to it with size 215/45/17 @ RM250 per donut, its doing promotion previously, now it should be around RM290 - RM300 i think. Now my review is based on 3 months of using it and so far it is satisfactory.

My initial impression of Dunlop D05 is, its bloody noisy! Yes< i can hear the whoom sound creeping into the cabin and believe me, its LOUD. I am not someone to complaint about noise, as i firmly believe that ICE can easily drawn out the noise, and yes it did, but I have to turn the volume much higher cool.gif  Now before you misunderstood that this is a complaint, it is not, after the tyre is properly run-in, it is a fine tyre.

It could be due to my alignment too, as I have a habit of going to one particular guy who do great with alignment, and after that, the noise is not so loud anymore, anyway, I am enjoying every minute of D05 now.

Looking at the tyre, it is quite obvious that it is well design and manufactured, with wear indicator which is thoughfully located for us to do a check from time to time. The thread pattern is not bad, with deep grooves to ensure excellent water dispersion.

I have the pleasure recently of trying out in the wet, being rainy these past weeks, and true enough, the tyre didnt disappoint. I have good control at 90-100, not too fast tho, but mostly city driving. Manage to track right into puddle of water, its deep too, and the car remain in control, steering wheel remains steady thumbup.gif

The sidewall is relatively solid without being too hard, Achilles is harder, yes I use that before. Nothing to complaint about both Dunlop and Achilles - true value for money with reasonable result just dont expect Potenza-like performance.

Braking is good, and touch wood i haven't tried emergency stop, which Achilles may slide a little, having experienced a few close calls earlier. Cornering, i must say is steady but unspectacular - Achilles is slighly better at cornering - hard. Still it is no big difference, in fact I felt more comfortable throwing corners with the not so stiff sidewall which is the Dunlop, than the Achilles - hope I am not being self-contradictory, but the Dunlop brings the car back nicely after corner, whereas the Achilles tend to be more abrupt when going into straight - maybe its just me

The only other mid-range that is slightly better than Dunlop and Achilles might be the Falken, which I tried and they are not bad. Falken can really tempt you to floor it, and they are great -  at least initially, as Falken tyres performance tend to dropped significantly at 50%-60%, while Achilles, they seem to last forever!

The best I had ever used is still the Potenza, but, yes a but for the price, which is ridiculous. The last I checked on them - RM700 a piece for 215/45/17 - Japan bangwall.gif  bangwall.gif  definitely a nay. All in all, I am satisfied with the Dunlop, but its just 3 months, will observe longer before i push it further.

Hello Chief,

Care to provide your latest feedback on the D05s after approx. 7 months of use?
I'm due for a change of tyres soon and would be considering these tyres (Size: 215/45/R17)

Pls do let me know the location/shop where you purchased those rubbers as well.

Thanking you in advance.

Hi, after like 7 months, i can say D05 is solid to me. But heck the noise is something that you need to live with but the performance during wet is really good, not a hint of aquaplaning, cut thru like a knife.

Just for information, the tyre comes with thread indicator, which is great, you can tell when and whether its time to change donut with the indicator clearly displays - quite a considerate feature for car owners.

Good to know.

Care to share the name of the shop where you bought the D05s?
Also, is the RM 250/pc that you paid for the last time inclusive of Valves + Balancing OR are those charged separately?

Are they any good in terms of tyre balancing?

Just got a full set of DUNLOP Formula D05s, and my impression after my first drive with it... It is a much better set of rubbers compared to the SILVERSTONE Atlantis V7s which came stock standard with my car smile.gif
