To be honest, in SPCA you need to know where to look to see the nice cat (the pedigree or specific breed type that cost more to adopt). Those that just walk in (General Public) can only see those in the Cattery and so far I only see SPCA put those normal DSH there. That why I mentioned the secretive thingy.
Maybe SPCA want to be fair to the normal DSH but its also making things suspicious, as such seem SPCA keeping some cat away from General Public adoption. Maybe staff there keeping for selected SPCA guest and not open to all that walk in first come first serve?
So far I never seen those so-called more expensive adoption breed type in the main cattery, only normal DSH but they are there just not at the main place for General Public viewing.

haha. that i dunno. seems like a lot of effort... but yea easier to find nicer breed via petfinder if looking for those nice fluffy ones.

I got one cat at home.
Last year Nov until now I'm having brain fog then tension headache. Izzit the fur can cause headache?

Checked with doctor already found nothing.
Previously sleep with my cat no headache
*
Maybe. You may have developed an allergy. Clean your bed and sleep away from your cat. See if you get better. Alternatively have you added anything new to your room? Like scented candles or flowers?

fussie cat or any brand in particular?
i think everclean is a tad too heavy. everytime i try to sift it, feels very heavy and a lot of clean litter goes to waste (even slowly sift it)
review (tiba2):
if u guys wanna search for a good litter (and u guys didnt use smartsift), everclean is the best. no smell, very good clumping, one box can last me up till 1 month (2 cats)
*
how much is everclean? i never noticed it in any petshop.

Hi guys, i'm planning to pet a cat for my kid and this is my first time having a pet in the house, however i heard problem regarding on them destroying furniture such as scratching sofa and etc, may i know is there any way i can prevent this action from them?

Thanks
*
They wont really destroy the furniture lah. just like pull the fabric out and stuff. cats always need to tug on their nails. you will need to put cat scratch posts around the house or mats which they can use to scratch. if they have that then they wont scratch your sofa/carpet. also my cat really likes the cheap white IKEA bathroom mat. so thats a cheaper option to try.

my house has 2 scratch posts and the ikea mat, my 1 cat is pretty happy. and uses those to scratch and no longer kacau my dining chair.

also get a kitten (hopefully stray or from shelter). this is good cause its still sorta safe for your kid. and also doesnt have any learned habit of jumping on table, scratching people, etc. can be trained.

*
RM25/kg is a good budget. with that can get Royal Canin.

whats wrong with grain? if your cat sensitive to grain you can check out Iskhan which has a grain free range for kittens/adult cats.

Grain based food is actually not good for cats, they're carnivores. most cheaper brands are grain based, which is why i stopped feeding friskies
*
but you thought prodiet is not grain based? its <RM80-100 for 8kg bag. maybe even cheaper...

yea.. haha cats do have their own personality etc... so.. not all is the same..

just an example - milk.. as flavored liquid...

some human is also lactose intolerance,, and yet.. cows milk is almost an everyday item for most ppl...
*
but humans who are lactose intolerant, know they are. cats will hentam anyways. but i guess up to the owner. as long as owner properly monitors to ensure the cat doesnt get the runs after drinking, then should be fine. my cat drinks tons of water from my fish tank, so never thought to provide any other form of hydration. except if i decide to give a treat of chicken broth.

get a flea collar, put it in your vacuum cleaner, vacuum every day for three weeks.
*
oh. didnt think about that trick. but doesnt those collars just repel fleas and not actually kill them? i know that cats shouldnt be wearing them though.

QUOTE(basilisk @ Apr 14 2018, 05:26 PM)
any humans got bitten?

can try wear 2 layers of long socks, those soccer type,

the outer layer spray with frontline or ridsect etc

when fleas hop on, will kena poison..  biggrin.gif
*
some bites on others in the house, but mainly me kena cause im the one checking for them or combing my poor cat. now just vacuuming and spraying shelltox around the floor to kill the adults at least. hope the vacuum can pick up the larvae or eggs.

also bought the 4fleas fogger. maybe will use it this weekend if necessary. the amount of fleas around the home already reduced by a lot. trying to do the daily combing of the cat. but keep finding a few critters... dunno why. the meds not working or what. hai... maybe this weekend will reapply.

QUOTE(basilisk @ Apr 14 2018, 05:30 PM)
these "made in china" flea ticks spot-on doesnt list/states ingredient/contents

still people are buying it because it is cheap...

*
hahah. ya. those things look shady AF. i also saw it and straight avoid. will consider another dose of advantage if the fleas still living happily on my cat. maybe the old one didnt get absorbed at all. so kesian my cat. sudah kena quarantine so that he dont drop the eggs all over the house.

i suggest u better use spray, like frontline spray, spray the whole body, use both hands with gloves to massage

so it evenly distribute all over the cat body n tail, tht is the fastest way,

spot on drops will take long time to spread all over the body.
*
maybe later on i will try this. cause already got a batch of the meds. and regular flea combing sudah remove most if not all. and also found some dead larvae, so im guessin the previous spot on seems to be working. Thanks, didnt know there was a spray form of this. what if they lick it?

shelltox works?

and what's a fleas fogger? my house is still infected even though i'm limiting their movement to be only in my tiny living room. Thinking to cage them now  sad.gif
*
shelltox seems to work. but only for the adult fleas.

https://www.lazada.com.my/products/4fleas-r...7FgoVQ&search=1

bought this but didnt try it out yet. saw on amazon got some decent reviews. so might as well try.

seems didnt need to get the frontline spray. the Advantage Cat spot on meds working well for the fleas. now all the fleas are dead when i comb her. kesian kena quarantine for so many days. hopefully can let her frolic around later. supposedly her fur and dander are now weapons of mass destruction. even fall off her body and strike a flea, they will die.... damn. hahah

Need some advice for the sifus here. smile.gif

I'm thinking of adopting an adult cat (probably from a shelter here in Seremban). Anything that I should prepare apart from carrier, scratching posts, food, litter box and bed?

Any tips to share on how to help my future adoptee settle in?

Note that I have two kids - 9 and 6 yo but they are familiar with having cats as pets (my IL has two cats).
*
flea medicine
check he/shes neutered (ear clipped).
bed no need.
if you want can get those bowls for food. otherwise old tupperware also ok.

normally when get new cat i would put her into unused room/toilet corner till she gets used to the people, otherwise who knows where they will run off to. especially if you living in landed property (which you should also get collar with your name + number cause they normally wander out of the house). condo no need.
