U shouldn't have bought an open casing like the Stacker if you can't stand the noise lor.
The tip is ... sound travel in straight line but air can bengkok. Like the other dood says..it's pretty pointless to sound insulate a Stacker unless u sacrifice all the bays, cover up everything and redesign the airflow |

like that just use water cooler, so you can take off all others which is useless. then will reduce the noise.

link above .... last few pictures show more sound insulated area. its black & highly condensed. got them from Car HiFi shop ... cost around RM 20-30 for the whole casing to fully do up .. sacrificing some air intake area for silence. |

actually the akasa paxmate is alright for high pitched sounds.. so if u have deltas in ur case then it will help A LITTLE. but the amount of screaming the deltas do...it doesnt make much of a difference.
other than that.. eeerr....... i used to use it in my HEC case and the only reason i used it was it was easy to work with as its slim and i wanted to make my UV mod glow brighter (the black background helps) u should go to car accesory shops. if u have the money get the dynamat which will cost a bomb. if not theres this sponge thing sound insulation material (usually the cheapest) which is about 1/2 an inch thick and good enough for PC use. same thing as uglyvamp uses. can see the pix in the link he posted above |

One question though, with the fitting of the fully sound insulations, doesn't it make the temperature up a bit?
Help me to understand... |

Actually no big deal wat. It doesn't matter what case u use. PC noise mainly comes from the fans. All u need to do is use CM Silent fans for all the intake exhaust ports. Then get a nice silent HSF n u'll be in silent PC heaven. My LL V1200 is oso full of holes like the stacker yet it's super silent coz I use all 120mm silent fans. Even the fan on the XP120 is higher flow at 65CFM but it's a nice silent fan too. There's no noise padding in my rig at all.
Noise dampening materials r only worth the time n effort if u buy the real stuff like Dynamat. Those r real bitumen based pads which actually add mass dampening to the panels. Other than that, it's all a waste of time n money. |

the kick is to redue the sound with quite powerful fans ..
if ur system already has good cooling, good ambient, then sacrificing 2-3C is worthy .. in my opinion. my pc internal ambient runs at around 36-38C without A/C on .. but i like it quieter |

So that means, that sound insulation thingy do consume some cooling power eeh? if ur system already has good cooling, good ambient, then sacrificing 2-3C is worthy .. in my opinion. my pc internal ambient runs at around 36-38C without A/C on .. but i like it quieter Man, i'd never use those things... Expensive + Temperature Raiser = Silent Setup... |

With sound insulation, on watercooling for CPU only.
Opteron 146 OC @ 3.0ghz Full tower, side panel closed with Air-Con turn on after few hours. Didn't have pic for my rig yet cos digital cam not at home now. ![]() |
