TL;DR, when u use split-frame rendering in multi-GPUs configuration, your effective VRAM capacity is actually (VRAM capacity per card * Total card)? I don't really understand, i thought split-frame rendering already available many years ago.

And if the game support Split-Frame rendering, so far only CIV: Beyond Earth support it in Mantle, not BF4/DA:I/Thief iirc.

Nope, the VRAM will be mirrored (i.e. the maximum usable VRAM is 8GB in this case), and not doubled.

Another speculation...hopefully it is not entirely true. Cause if it is, no use for me to wait for the 300 series since the real upgrade would be out of my budget...and if they still rebrand Hawaii, I can get it now anyway.

Anyone using the MSI 290x Lightning. Anyone know of any known defect for it? My new card just died again with this being the second card being changed.

Why R9 290X 8GB?The 4GB version and 8GB version differences in terms of FPS isn't that much IINM.

  agree... Nvidia.. company  liar about their own Vram.. (why? misscomunication with engineer and markerting (noob excuses)  they don't need too their fan is  green blood they don't breath oxygen)  disable oc on mobile gpu.. (now recap it next update  return oc mobile)

Congrats bro. Finally you have full access to 4GB VRAM.

Unless our friend is going for 4K, I think 4GB is just fine. Even then, I bet a single 290X with 8GB would even struggle at 4K, not due to VRAM run out, but already run out of GPU processing power.

Now still DX11 la bro. So far a number of reviews did not quite indicate large benefits from the extra 4GB.

I think high texture is not mainstream, but more of a mod. Most average gamers would not likely use high texture packs etc.

DX12 not yet out.. all out is rumor.. and Window 10 first.. (or win 8.2 lol)  at moment Mantle is closes DX12 comparison on performance boost it give to GCN core..  and on Mantle  it seem to  increase  the minimum Fps.. not much on Average FPS..

No rebranding...if this is true, I think it is worth the wait...but pls AMD don't make us wait for too long. I've been holding on an upgrade from my 7850 for quite some time now.

This kind of thing you need to experience it hands on. After you've seen one yourself you probably will think your PC/monitor suddenly doesn't deliver smooth gameplay.
