Whats the magic on 390x other than faster vram???Its beating 980.
Although most reviews using overclocked 50mhz units.
I trust hardwarecanucks more than anybody else.
980 20-30percent lead gone.

QUOTE(terradrive @ Jun 19 2015, 10:53 AM) I think it's because most reviewers still using reference 290X. It's throttling on some games while the new 390X benchmarks uses AIB cards and the clocks are maintained, no throttling. Youve got a point there on the throttle. Remember that 290X throttles even on a very low ambient temperatures of the reviewer's room, if some of the reviewer have higher ambient room temperature, it throttles even more. Plus, faster VRAM actually adds a bit performance. I compared 3 benchmarks and some even on older game, I got performance improvements of 2 to 4 percent from moving my memory from 320GB/s to 384GB/s on 1000Mhz core clock. 390x 8gb atm looks like a steal. |

QUOTE(Desprado @ Jun 19 2015, 10:14 PM) Maxwell is a overclock beast. tdp dude.Without vcore setting my MSI GTX 980 hits 1522MHZ and memory clock is 7900MHZ. a lot of ppl dont seem to understand tdp. Got a lot of noobs on PC Gaming Community (Malaysia) FB nvidia measures tdp at 85C with their own respectable db sound. Thats y the clock rates so low with massive oc reserved until they see a better yield with lower temps they up it. Just like titan black vs 780ti. Its not for fun. Fury X in comparison should be at 50C. Need to see the aircool version. temps affect tdp value. This post has been edited by cstkl1: Jun 20 2015, 11:28 AM |

QUOTE(JohnLai @ Jun 20 2015, 11:49 AM) Have you see nvidia gpu result with water cooling yet? bro reviewers oc is not stable. Minus about 75-100mhz.You will be suprised on GTX980 water cooled temperature. On pcper.com article about EVGA Hydro Copper GTX 980 Water Block testing, the gpu was clocked at base clock 1407mhz with only average temp of 40'C. Most time spent on boost clock of 1582mhz. Reviewer said the only limiting factor from further overclocking is software-limited voltage regulation. If Fury X is aimed to compete with GTX980TI, I think Nvidia probably will follow suit with similar 'official' water cooling edition. Two can play at that game. For instance, EVGA GTX 980 Ti Hybrid Notice that most benchmark claiming Fury X beats GTX980Ti at its stock clock. Too bad Nvidia will probably artifically limit the maximum allowable voltage. Dunno y gm200 titan X and 980ti.. Benchmark, 2 hour stable and fully stable.. can vary a lot. This post has been edited by cstkl1: Jun 20 2015, 12:06 PM |

Never met an idiot who cling that much to his card.
Another smeagol. Btw its about that johor idiot. That techreview report was insightful. Although they should put that tonga tess accelaration is a trait in the new gcn. So its not a apple to apple comparison with 290x numbers. Are those fury throughput data an estimation or facts?? The second data table. |

QUOTE(Najmods @ Jun 21 2015, 01:26 PM) It's just estimation. I do more digging on it and find out it's not 100% true. Tonga GCN 1.2 does make improvement in certain areas over Hawaii GCN 1.1 Thought so then that throughput numbers n tesselation power is false. Cause the base assumption is 290x .This post has been edited by cstkl1: Jun 21 2015, 07:29 PM |

Afaik there was no optimization on r9 390s other than
Third party cooler with significantly higher vddc 1.2v , overclocked by 50-100mhz, vrams 8gb higher clocked by 20%. Now there are reports showing there was no increase in tesselation performance. It was driver tweaking. So if we do a wired setting on heaven we can see "optimization" or lack of tesselation. I call that cheating or just reducing fidelity that game engine intended. But on other perspective users would enjoy better framerates at acceptable graphic fidelity. Everybody call this r&d . Lol Dirt Rally. I heard it wasnt maxed out setting. Btw its was about 8.4xx k pixels but marketing is spinning it as 12k. I am curious as to the aa performance. Early debates said the card will suffer a huge loss in performance. QUOTE(Acid_RuleZz @ Jun 22 2015, 01:40 PM) 1. There's adapter for that, will be release later this year though. You will need to do a chroma subsampling like what nvidia did before for 4k@602. 8Pack claimed you can easily overclock the card 10% over stock without voltage adjustment and sometime reach 1200mhz. 3. May i ask what software did the reviewer use? CCC have no voltage adjustment, MSI Afterburner is not compatible with Fury X yet. There's a concern about overvolting though since it can affect the interposer and HBM temperature as well. 4. It will be limited but i doubt they only have 30k for the launch. 6. No the tessellation performance is not specific to R9-300. Thats pretty impressive for 10% oc on stock voltage. I wonder how much is the stock voltage seeing all 390x now running at 1.2v They can do legacy support like what they did for titan x etc. That need to ask unwinder only way to confirm the numbers is asking hwlabs how many rads they shipped out |

He is just pointing out frustation as a amd user. We all been there. As for AMD user/fans. I think their tolerance/loyalty to AMD doesnt reflect the performance/experience. Thats what he is trying to say. Did you flash ure 290 to a 290x?? If nvidia posted a crap like DA 5k@30 fps medium setting closer to 980 launch for maxwell 2, we would see a 10page hate fest in Nvidia thread. Anyway arkham knights launch now is 12pm instead of 12am. Amd as i speculated has drivers for it. Read that somewhere. This is the game fury X will try to show off its edge against 980ti. vram @1440p reported by some 980 preaccess users is 4gb This post has been edited by cstkl1: Jun 23 2015, 10:09 AM |

QUOTE(ruffstuff @ Jun 23 2015, 10:36 AM) Just wow. No freesync range. I open pdf file manual. No info on the VRR range. It just stated 60hz at native resolution 4k. So what's the use of freesync at fixed rate? Samsung or AMD should make this info available because this is the most important information when getting freesync monitor. Think now with cf support freesync reviews should be betterAMD just throw 9-240hz from their Freesync spec, but when it goes into market, it is not the truth. Anyway, the Asus MG297Q Freesync monitor is now available at compuzone, for RM2699. Significantly cheaper thant Asus PG278Q G-sync monitor. The freesync range for MG297Q 35-90hz. Still ok for me, but kinda defeat the purpose of having 144hz monitor, but not able to vrr up to that refresh rate. Arkham knights min spec for amd is a 7950. Thats insane |

QUOTE(terradrive @ Jun 23 2015, 10:43 AM) It's actually quite alright. 290 is just slightly slower than gtx 970 even with the light shafts and enhanced rain turned on. Amd cards can't turn on smoke and one more I forgot. But both of those will slam the cards so hard even the titan x. Any benchmarks yet?? I read it from some forums about users testing the game, forgot which. But then again there's a lot of complaints such as locked 30fps in game (have to modify ini settings to unlock higher fps), can't turn off chromatic aberration etc Day one patch is not in yet. So far early access seems to be from steam uk This post has been edited by cstkl1: Jun 23 2015, 10:46 AM |
