is it possible to build a rig 3.k with gtx980 ?
*
Well it is almost possible if you have monitor, hdd/ssd and casing to reuse.

I am not sure if Leadtek GTX980 and CM G750M PSU combo still available or not, if yes then you can get i5 4460 + 8GB RAM + cheap H81 mobo and you are good to go, the cost should be around RM3.1k.

how much different between i3 and i5 using I3 will the graphic card be able to support??
*
i3 is dual core and i5 is quad core, some games won't run on dual core processor such as Dragon Age: Inquisition, but if you only play Dota 2 then i3 should have no issue and it is able to support the GPU.

Oh haha. True. Just recheck. But seem like leadtek is expensive. More expensive than asus.
*
Are you sure? Leadtek is in the mid of the pack, it is much cheaper than overpriced Asus.

For example, Asus Strix GTX970 is RM1649 while Leadtek Hurricane GTX970 is RM1499, even the reference GTX970 by Asus is also more expensive than Leadtek by RM60.

QUOTE(ikhwan1 @ Apr 4 2015, 10:57 PM)
Budget : RM 3000

Purpose : Gaming, FPS

Hardware : No hardware will be re use. 1st build

Monitor : I have a budget of rm 500 for monitor.

Personal preference : If possible, I would like to have bitfenix podigy or NZXT s340 for my case. 8gb of ram is enough and i5. I would really like a gtx 970 if possible. I do not need a mouse or keyboard.

Location : SJ, Selangor

Thanks smile.gif !
*
If you choose Bitfenix Prodigy then you are heading Mini-ITX build. Mini-ITX build will be more expensive than standard ATX and M-ATX build.

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 719
Asrock B85M-ITX - RM 329
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 234
Leadtek Hurricane GTX970 4GB GDDR5 GPU - RM 1250
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 199
FSP Hexa+ 550W PSU - RM 179
Bitfenix Prodigy - RM 349

Total: RM 3259 (GPU price is from Techview IT, others are Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

OR

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 719
Asrock B85M-HDS - RM 264
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 234
Leadtek Hurricane GTX970 4GB GDDR5 GPU - RM 1250
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 199
FSP Hexa+ 550W PSU - RM 179
NZXT S340 - RM 295

Total: RM 3140 (GPU price is from Techview IT, others are Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

Monitor choice:
BenQ GL2450-B - RM 489
Samsung S20D300FY - RM 349
Samsung S22C170BS - RM 409

You can try to choose cheaper monitor to cover the over budgeted rig sweat.gif

Thank you so much for your suggestions.

If I change from 970 to a 960, will i loose a lot of performance .Bc i would like to play BF Hardline.

And If I didnt set any preference for my GPU, what is your gpu suggestion or build based on my budget range ? .
*
970 performance is the double of 960 and with current price tag, 970 is the sweet spot for gamers. If you play on 1080p only, then 960 is fine but 970 will have more juice for ultra settings in games.

With GST implemented this month and weak RM currency, it is getting harder to build a rig with i5 + 970 with a good PSU under 3k, but since you have 3k + 500 budget so I think it is still within your purchasing ability.

Choose the second option and pair it with Samsung 19.5' monitor so you won't over budget. Or you can try switching to cheaper case to get bigger monitor or better PSU.

Hey guys, specs as shown in picture but i noticed that there are sudden spikes of lag here and there when i play online fps(battlefiled 3). BUilding this for bf4&hardline but havent bought that game yet since i see my pc cant handle bf3 properly. can anyone advice on what to do next with a budget of rm600? i cant afford a new cpu just yet since a mobo and ram will already be 500+, but i want to know from you guys what mobo/ram i can get for the best price to performance ratio.
*
Your CPU is really weak to handle new games and large multiplayer map, your RAM is also not enough, 8GB is recommended. sweat.gif

Since you play online BF, quad core is the minimum because dual core will not be able to handle it smoothly.

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 719
Asrock H81M-VG4 - RM 189
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz Value RAM - RM 234

Thanks for the infomation.

Do u think i will be able to get a better rig if i do a amd rig instead of intel and nvidia?
*
For processor, AMD still behind Intel in single threaded performance and since you are buying a rig for gaming, AMD processor is not recommended as many games out there are favouring Intel.

For GPU, yes if you cannot reach 970 budget, you can try 280 or 280x which is below RM900. But AMD GPU is power hunger and runs hotter than Nvidia.

No idea for Xeon on Intel XMP. I do know the motherboard supports.

Asus G-Sync monitor? Not worth it. You will end up with lower spec

How about these?

Xeon E3-1231 V3 - RM900
Coolermaster Hyper 212X - RM159
Gigabyte H97-HD3 motherboard - RM359
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM229
MSI GTX970 4GB DDR5 OC Tiger - RM1339
Liteon 900S 256GB SSD - RM399 (from Viewnet)

Corsair spec 02/03 case - RM207
Corsair K70 -  RM450
Asus PG278Q G-Sync monitor - RM3099

RM7820 total (Jayacom prices)
*
K70 and K70 RGB is different, TS wants K70 RGB and the price is around RM 680 at the moment.

Gigabyte H97-HD3 motherboard - RM359 - does this motherboard support xmp, if yes, then all good to get eg : Avexir Blitz 1.1 at 2400mhz?

n thanks for the prompt reply. i just added some infos on he which to have.

added : he also want black n red colour motherboard  hmm.gif

note : its just my recomendation for him to get g sync, if its worth it. not he insist tho.
*
Yes that mobo supports XMP, but getting a higher frequency and performance RAM won't have much performance differences in real world unless you are doing benchmark on it, but if you like the design then you are good to go sweat.gif

Intel Core i7 4790K - RM 1329
Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5 - RM 679
Corsair 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz RAM x1 - RM 229
Leadtek Hurricane GTX980 4GB GDDR5 GPU - RM 2179
Liteon S900 256GB SSD - RM 399
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 199
Seasonic M12 II Evo 620W PSU - RM 379
Corsair K70 RGB - RM 680 (Estimated)
Corsair Hydro H100i AIO - RM 499
Fractal Design R4 - RM 450 (GBros price)
Dell U2414H - RM 979

Total: RM8001 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

Monitor is just my own preference as U2414H is a good quality IPS monitor, you can choose other monitor with low input lag if you wish.

QUOTE(mindspring @ Apr 6 2015, 09:48 PM)
im going for itx build. and one of the forummer quoted me this

Processor : i5 4460 RM699
Motherboard : Asrock H97M-ITX/AC RM399
RAM : Gskill Aegis 8GB 1600 RM249
HDD : WD 1TB blue RM209
Graphic Card: Asus GTX970-DCMOC-4GD5 RM1499
Power Supply : Seasonic S12 620W RM339
Casing : CM Elite 130 RM176
TOTAL: RM3570

my opinions are:
case could fit 12" cards, so might as well get the normal 970
psu is bronze rated, non modular. so there might be a bit of hassle with the cabling since the case is itx. also i dont need that much of W
cm elite 130 is cheap. but heat might be an issue here.

so, can /h recommends me some modification to this build?
thanks for your input  smile.gif

Intel Core i5 4460 - RM 719
Asrock H97M-ITX/ac - RM 399
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 234
WD Blue 1TB HDD - RM 199
Leadtek Hurricane GTX970 4GB GDDR5 GPU - RM1429
Seasonic M12 II Evo 620W PSU - RM 379
CM Elite 130 - RM 179

Total: RM3538 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

If you don't need WiFi, you can get cheaper M-ITX mobo such as Asrock B85M-ITX at RM 329 and spend the extra RM70 to buy extra casing fan, the PSU suggested is fully modular so it is easier to do cable management in your M-ITX rig.

Hi,

How much do i need to buy a basic spec PC that support Dota2?

Exclude the graphics card and lcd monitor that i already have.

Budget 1000 enough?
*
RM 1000 budget might be a little bit hard to fit in all the parts with GST implemented now.

Intel Core i3 4130 - RM 419
Asrock H81M-VG4 - RM 189
Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Value RAM - RM 129
Toshiba 500GB HDD - RM 174
Thermaltake Versa H25 - RM 139

Total: RM 1050 (Viewnet price inclusive of GST)

Which graphics card do you have now? Cannot recommend a PSU without knowing the card model. Add PSU will run out of your budget tho sweat.gif
