Received call from 03 2212 4569 telling me she’s Karen Lee from HSBC Ampang HQ. Asking me if I have done any Bitcoin purchase using my HSBC card. I answered no. Then she said it’s from HSBC Platinum MC. I said I don’t have that card, I only have VS. She continued saying this card was applied in don’t know what Damansara and approved in August. I said I have no idea. She gave me another phone no. and my phone no. Asked if I have any idea of the first no., I answered no. She started saying my details already compromised. I asked to cancel the card then as I don’t see it on my HSBC account and CCRIS. She said can only block but cannot cancel. She gave me the CC no. and asked me to report to BNM. I suspected something fishy now. Then I said I will do my own report. She continued saying she can pass the call to BNM, I said it’s OK I will do on my own. I hung up. I haven’t called HSBC yet as I’m in a meeting now.

My only mistake was I told her about the card type that I’m having now (no card no. was disclosed) and about my phone no. but since she knows how to call me, she already got my details.

Anyone received before? I guess nothing alarming?

I have gotten the same scam call; a couple of months back iirc.
Something about validating a lazada transaction of 15k on my HSBC cc.
I told them dont validate it; then the conversation changed to it has already been charged, they are calling to confirm it.
When probed, the story that come out is identical to yours; charges made to an unknown card that I dont own.
Forward to BNM people or some BS like that to make report.

told them dont bother; I dont own the card, they can charge however they want and cut the call.
verified with hsbc; they say its scam call.
and i left it as it is; couldnt be bothered to report as i do get these crap calls a couple of times a month.

Yeah, when she said need to report to BNM, I already suspected something wrong. Banks hardly ask us to complain to BNM. It's like a student asking you to complain to discipline teacher about his misbehaviour. laugh.gif
Oh, so it is not new. From her accent, she sounds like a Malaysian Chinese. Such disgusting act to be a scammer.

times are tough; whatever it takes to make ends meet I guess.

and never doubt the level of ignorance in the society today.
for all you know, these ignorant beings are being brought in as call center agents for banks; and the scam is when 'BNM' takes over the conversation.
