HSBC cards has to be one of the most difficult for me to get.

Few years ago I tried to apply and got declined because I missed their one and only phone call (verification). I am an night owl and they called in the morning. Just ONE phone call.

Just recently, I tried to apply again (for some free gift) but just got word that I got declined again because they tried to call my workplace but due to some miscommunication, they were unable to verify my job/post and don't have the decency to notify me on the current update on the status until I contacted them personally.

Meanwhile, my Citibank card applied later than HSBC got approved and waiting to receive it today. No luck with HSBC. Maybe will try again after few months cooling period before eligible for free gift again.

One thing I don't get it with HSBC cards is that if I make payment from my HSBC savings account to my HSBC card, it takes one working day to take effect whereas other banks it is immediate (same bank account to same bank CC).

I always make payments exactly on due dates and I always kena with HSBC.

just curious... how do you define/measure "one working day to take effect"?

1) see in app?
2) see in portal?
3) see changes in credit limit?
4) see the payment date?

Say my CC due date is today 10 August. If I go into my HSBC app to make payment to my HSBC card now for today, my payment will only be in effect the next working day, ie. tomorrow 11 August and my CCRIS will be marked as late payment.

that's the way on how hsbc work . so advice pay earlier

Yeah, no choice. Just find it weird, why pay now doesn't means now. Especially more so when I am using my HSBC savings to make payment. If you say making payment from another bank to HSBC cc, then maaaaaaybe I can understand a bit. 3-4 other banks' CC, the payment to CC is immediate.

If my due date falls on a Friday, more GG because if I make payment on Friday, the effect will only take place on Monday (next working day).

U r suppose to make payment after statement date. Got 20 days to pay rather than wait till last day(due date) to avoid extra fees penalties

Yes I know but I'd like to keep my money in my account as long as I can.
I usually see my statements early and then schedule payments via banking apps on its due date for all my respective CCs. Only noticed HSBC's practice is a bit different. Other banks, regardless if it is weekend, public holidays or what not, payment is made on the day you want to make it.

No issue, just that for HSBC, I have to take an extra look at the calendar that even if I anticipate and make it one day earlier, it is not a public holiday/weekend.
You like to make payment one day after receiving your statement, good for you and no issues with me. I am just sharing my experience.

It’s actually very simple if you care about logic.

Payments by you do not necessarily mean payments are received by payee. This afore statement encapsulates the whole gist of the payment deadline. Clearance of any mode of payments takes time unless it is a direct transfer to the bank in question which would then be recorded as received immediately.

So, you must give a time window for them to have the payment in their bank per se.

So from my HSBC savings account to my HSBC card, is not a direct transfer? How much more direct can it be to be recorded as received immediately?

no point argue in forum. the best answer is ask bank

Sure, I have no issue. I have adjusted my payment scheduling to cater for their payment receiving structure after learning this.
Just merely sharing and not really looking for answers as I don't think any of you are representing HSBC and their credit card team.

Just saying that UOB/Citi, Maybank, CIMB all reflected payments instantly whereas HSBC is different. Just sharing for discussion sake or for other new HSBC cc owners who pays on due date (like me) and to avoid being triggered as late payment.
