Hi, i wanna know where got sell affordable tenor ukulele in KL.  I see many people saying that "i got my ukulele last week blabla......". Mind sharing where you got it from? And how much?  Prefer not to buy online due to shipping cost.

Any reply will be very much appreciated. Cheers. wink.gif

Hi, I'm new here  rclxm9.gif

Stumbled upon this forum as I'm googling for a trustworthy luthier to do a refret job for me.
Anyway, the little one is my all-hardwood mahogany tenor Pono. It plays beautifully - the tuning is true all the way up the neck.

wow.. Pono is among the most expensive ukulele! cool.. any video of u playing it? smile.gif

Given the limited surface area of the soundboard relative to the weight of the nylon strings, I wouldn't think better strings have significant tonal improvement, unless the uke was made to be responsive in the first place.
I much prefer Worth strings to Aquila. They have a warm yet biting sound, and last really, really long.
*

will it be easier to hold the chords using Worth? feel like u need quite a power to hold on the chord on Aquila..

Hi pips, i bought a makala tenor uku few weeks ago. I wanted to tukar the strings. Any recommendation for strings brand and model for this uku?
tq

Aquila strings seems quite popular, but actually there's comparable brands like Worth or Martins, but not sure u can get it in Malaysia.

what is your recommendation for newbie? soprano or concerto? smile.gif
*

i'm talking from the view of an average-sized person

Soprano
+ very portable, can carry out without grabbing too much attention
+ sound wise, i think soprano best represents what ukulele should sound like
+ good if you think you might just want to play it for fun and then left it for weeks to collect dusts
- limited frets, so you can't do jake-shimabukuro style playing
- for big fingers, it will be hard

Concert
+ best investment if you are playing medium-serious
+ inherits some positives from the other 2
- inherits some negatives from the other 2

Tenor
+ this is to get if you want to be pro or look pro tongue.gif
+ has deeper bass then the other 2
- not good for short fingers
- strings have higher tensions, so you need strong and tough fingers to hold the frets
- big size

Where does it ship from and how much is shipping? I remember I wanted to try a uke from Vietnam but the shipping is insane. RM500+ for 2 ukes.
*

it's about $110+$18 shipping only from USA.. so less than RM400 for a Lanikai tenor..
RM500 from Vietnam? haha..
