Voon joins Eco World as Liew Kee Sin made chairmanFormer SP Setia lynchpin Voon Tin Yow officially joins the board of Eco World Development Group Berhad as executive director as his long-time associate from SP Setia days, Liew Kee Sin, was made chairman.
In separate regulatory filings today, Eco World announced two new additions to its board line-up alongside two re-designations.
Apart from the appointment of Voon, who until Dec 31 last year was acting president and chief executive officer for SP Setia following Liew’s departure from those positions in end-April 2014, the board also saw the appointment of Noor Farida Mohd Ariffin as an independent non-executive director.
A career civil servant, Noor Farida’s four decades in public service include the roles of Special Adviser on Maritime Issues to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-Agent for several national litigation cases before the International Court of Justice. She is also former Malaysian ambassador to the Netherlands between 2000 and 2007.
Meantime the re-designation of Liew means he takes over the non-independent, non-executive chairman role from Abdul Rashid Manaf, who is now founder and non-independent non-executive director of Eco World.
The appointments and re-designations were ratified by Eco World shareholders at the company’s annual general meeting in Kuala Lumpur today.
