Nacht, can you explain abit how the reincarnation cycle works? Like how do they get out from Hell after good behavour (parole?) and who determines where they go, the hell judges? And if so who determines if they are to be reborn into which family - if they happen to be good behaviour and get redeem to be born as humans again.
Do they get to choose? |

QUOTE(nachtsider @ Sep 7 2017, 02:56 PM) It is a vast place. Is it like bribery or just paying for hostel?Calling it 'Planet Hell' would not be inaccurate. The terrain varies from frozen wastelands to molten lakes, from mountains of knives to petrified forests. Hell deities patrol constantly, keeping the prisoners in line. Those prisoners who lack money to pay for their accommodation will have no shelter. Those who can pay for their stay will have roofs over their heads, although living is largely communal in nature and hardly luxurious. It is not a place of enjoyment. |

QUOTE(nachtsider @ Oct 21 2017, 11:56 PM) 1. The money is primarily used to pay for one's accommodation. I like the fact that you have an explanation to these, which makes it bit more believable and logical to my "agnostic" mind, on point number 2, does that mean that no babies or children are meant to die as a child and if they do it is due to unforseen circumstances?2. Those who die THAT prematurely will be taken to a special sanctuary to recover from their ordeal until they are ready; this usually means remaining there until they reach the age at which they were originally meant to reach before expiring naturally. Such an experience, being taken before your time so early, is highly traumatic, and only souls of a certain age are allowed to go through the standard processing. 3. By default, yes. But the art of protecting a residual self image can be perfected. 4. If you were crippled at the time of your death, you typically stay that way as a ghost, unless you can transcend that somehow. This can be achieved by someone performing salvation rituals for you, being healed by a deity, etc. Recently so many cases of abandoned babies or abused children that died... |

Came across a facebook post today with video, showing a sintua ceremony in KL for jiu huang yeh gone very wrong.
Apparently they were "steaming" the sifu in a big metal tong with fire underneath? (Can't tell based just on video and a video does not explain what is going on) - according to the caption the sifu has passed away due to the accident. Wonder if you know about this case @nacht Edit: Read up more of the comments in the thread, it seems the sifu had a heart attack during the middle of the ceremony, and when they carry him out of the steamer, a while later he passed away on the spot. QUOTE(nachtsider @ Oct 25 2017, 11:23 AM) This guy wasn't affiliated with the temple where the incident occurred. That is not how the news articles portrayed unfortunately, and it is giving sintua religion a bad light. He wasn't even a medium, for that matter. He was merely a performance artist who practiced Mao Shan sorcery. What he was doing has no religious basis, at least not in Chinese folk religion. RIP to the guy but there are a lot of ridicules from all cultural communities on this incident. |

Recently saw a chinese drama - 三生三世十里桃花 (English: Eternal Love) This talks about the love for 3 lives that the main characters have, but the setting is based on Chinese Folk religion, quite fascinating to see actually, mainly on heavenly deities like the heavenly tribe who are actually dragons, and there is the 9-tails fox tribe who are foxes and the phoenix tribe, and how they work their way up the heavenly hierarchy to become celestial beings. There's also loose mentioning of 佛祖,三清,太上老君,灵宝天尊 and various dragon deities that govern the 4 seas and 5 plains.
They also talk about how when a celestial being is cast to earth as mortals, they are either living a punishment or here to experience life n death (this echos the chinese folk believe of how someone is an incarnation of certain celestial being) and the example of 1 day in heaven is the equivalent of 1 year in mortal life so that could explain why when we talk about the heavenly or hell deities they are always in ancient chinese costume Although I know it is fiction, but they explained the storyline so well like it really happens that way up there.
