Shaw in contention to face Spurs. Come on Luke, we missed your presence in defence.

Head-to-head
After going 22 Premier League games without a win against Manchester United, Tottenham have won two of the last four (W2, D2).
However, Tottenham remain without a home win against the Red Devils in 13 league meetings. Their last victory at White Hart Lane saw Willem Korsten score twice and Les Ferdinand also on target in a 3-1 victory in May 2001.
Manchester United have won 29 of 44 Premier League encounters between the clubs (D10, L5).
The last six meetings have produced 21 goals - an average of 3.5 goals per game.
Tottenham
Tottenham have won each of their last three Premier League games, the first time they have done so under Mauricio Pochettino.
They have scored just seven goals in their last eight Premier League games at White Hart Lane.
Harry Kane has scored 15 goals in all competitions - only Sergio Aguero (19) has netted more for a Premier League side this season.
Three goals or more have been scored in 10 of Spurs' last 11 league games.
Manchester United
Victory over Newcastle on Boxing Day made it eight league games unbeaten for United (W7, D1).
Louis van Gaal's side have failed to score only twice in league games this season - at Burnley and Manchester City.
They have kept only one away clean sheet, in August's goalless draw at Burnley.
The Red Devils have lost just one of their last 18 league away games in London (W11, D6).
Wayne Rooney has scored nine goals in 13 Premier League appearances for United against Tottenham, with six of those coming at White Hart Lane.

Him and Rafael will probably start at the bench, maybe get some minutes as subs to relieve Young and Valencia, then once their fitness improves and assuming they stay injury-free, they'll start.

Doubt he will rush them both back, since they've had a very stop-start season due to injuries.

The chances of chelsea and man city to BOTH collapse like newcastle in that year is almost 0%, so no.

anyway another home win.. OT is starting to become a fortress again.
*
chelsea or city will slip at some point, but hoping for both to collapse are asking too much.

not to mention our shaky defense, injury plague and inconsistantcy.

but aiming for the title will do no harm to our top 3 aspiration/club target.

Oh yeah Rafael too, saw pictures of him training.

I don't know why but I prefer Tony V in the wingback position rather than Rafael rclxub.gif

Tony V probably has higher energy levels, he hasn't had the injury niggles Rafael has had over the last few years.

Only way we will see the best of Rafael is if he can have a good run in the team without being injured.

Same here. Against Newcastle the other day, at one point Rafael was chasing the ball till central midfield area. That's way out of the position he should be occupying. Plus he sort of left Jones in no man's land with the penalty.

After he comes on, I start worrying about rash challenges from him already sweat.gif

For me i prefer tony v rather than rafael also. seem last game vs newcastle, rafael not very suitable for play as wing back.

You're still traumatized from the game vs Leicester tongue.gif That game aside, iirc he has actually cut down the rashness from his game a lot.

Not too surprised if he has to adapt to the WB role, with the number of games he has missed over the last 2 seasons... even at RB he would need time to find form and fitness, what-more RWB?

He needs more game time but right now valencia's form is better for that position plus game against spurs

Yep. Would be damn risky to rush him back, I'd rather he start as a sub for a few games and ease back into the team. He can start when Valencia needs a rest or if LVG changes formation to use fullbacks instead of wingbacks.

rafael is much a better defender than valencia.

people often accused valencia is one trick pony/limited winger, and rafael is not much better in attacking.

i think rafael is much better rwb, not proven i know. but for spurs and stoke game, valencia will be my choice. fa cup will be perfect match for rafael to start.

same goes to shaw vs young situation.

Rafael has much better left foot than Valencia, which gives more option when come into crossing. He will need to bulk up though
