Having the speedo hidden by the steering wheel if you adjust it is rather crap but that's about my only beef. I rather like the Lotus link we have, and after Top Gear did Patagonia I say that with no shame, pity though that Lotus are completely unaffordable here as I could get very chummy with one if it didn't require a hectare of money. Even the Jimmy Clarke link has meaning to me as in my childhood I saw him race live.
What he meant was, locally people condemn the material used to produce such dashboard, not the design. The original idea of taking over LOTUS design into our GaGa was solely wanted to have a dash of LOTUS bloodstream, was never about the built quality. The very 1st GaGa in our country with full LOTUS trim was the LMST(after LMSS). You can see the difference of 3 different trim of C21(Lancer base model) below:
1986 1st SAGA 1.3S, very close to LANCER FIORE

SAGA 1.5I UK export model, fully adopted LANCER FIORE

1991 SAGA Iswara(Butterfly facelift)

2003 SAGA Iswara LMSS(some said L stand for LOTUS), with extra 10hp

2004~2008(discontinued) SAGA LMST(some said LMST stand for Last Model Saga Transformation, some said Lotus Meter Style Trim, some even said, Lick My Smelly Toes)

From day 1 SAGA was introduced, the dashboard meter was wrapped with PVC with a layer of soft touch sponge. Hence the dampening and soft touch feel has been planted in our local lad's mind. Until LMST, have decided to inherit the marvelous LOTUS design dashboard by using recyclable material, which can last up to 50 years, harder, degradable, but the touch feeling is horrible, even worst than my kid's plastic mug that he throw on the floor if I put fever medicine in it. The truth is, the material is cheaper. No require extra work to wrap. Cut down cost. Which that point of time LMST sold to the lowest, as low as RM27000. My dad owned the 2nd batch of SAGA in 1986(1st batch sold out), then 1989. Follow by my sister purchased another 1989 as 2nd car. Then my brother took over the 1989 and fry the engine on the 2nd day. My brother in law got his 1993 butterfly facelift, but it got rusted so bad in 2003(after 10 years anti rust guarantee), will have to hold an umbrella to drive in rain. I purchased a 1996 facelift, having enough fun in weekend trackday and sold it in 2012, still in 99% perfect condition. Same year I purchased a used 2010 GaGa BLM. I ask myself, for the price I paid, what should I expect?
Buy a VIOS?
