Hi after I applied the fullscreen glass protector to my iPhone 6 plus it come out with white line between the screen and the bezel. It's normal for all brand glass fullscreen protector for iPhone 6? Please advise.
*
Not normal. Sorry, but it looks hideous. You should change your SP.

I bought this brand Remax. Any recommendation of budget glass sp which quality ok?
*
Remax should be ok though. Maybe because of poor installation workmanship? The more expensive and branded ones should be better in quality.

I never read any of the official Mi Note launch articles, but from the short pieces on my RSS feed, I quite like their marketing. They actually name the makers of the various key components - Sharp/JDI Screen, Sony camera, Philips flash, etc. You don't see that from most of the established producers. Apple's marketing seems to try to convince the average person into thinking they engineer everything themselves, which obviously isn't true.

For what it's worth, Apple used to do a lot of MS bashing in the old days, and even now in their Keynotes they still take pot-shots at Android every now and then. Samsung do it as well by putting up benchmarks with their marketing, plus how can we all forget their famous "creative barista" Galaxy Note add. They've gone a bit quiet over the past year though.

Just got my iPhone 6 plus replacement yesterday. I'm a happy customer  biggrin.gif. My friend was there and I told her it looks brand new. Since the phone just got released in the market there's a high chance that the replacement set isn't refurbished and it might be brand new. But the customer service rep there insisted that it's a refurbished set. He doesn't have to say such thing to burst my bubble yea stupid I know. I'll stay optimistic and think of it as a new phone. Now using it with a cheapo tempered glass I bought off eBay and a black Spigen ultra hybrid. The color contrast makes my gold iPhone looks damn good I tell you
*
The is no doubt that replacement sets are "Seed" units.

Seed units are defined as

"A service unit which has been assembled using the same manufacturing process as a new unit with new parts and parts that have been tested to be equivalent to new in reliablity and performance. The assembled units looks cosmetically new."

Do take note that "Seed" units are actually used sets reconditioned and repaired. nod.gif

anyone realized whatsapp drained the hell out of your battery ?

like almost 30% of the usage is from whatsapp even i seldom open it, i just check it like a 3 times an hour.

with my old android phone whatsapp only takes about 10% off battery usage
*
If you keep receiving chat messages especially group chat messages, and the notifications always trigger the notification sounds and power on the scree, its going to drain the battery. Try to turn group message notifications and you will see group and you will notice the difference.

hi there. new iphone user here.
there are a few problems for my i6+ and i need to seek help from you guys.

anyone of you experienced WIFI automatically switched off while your phone is on the sleep mode, and reconnect back after you woke your phone? i have tried to switch either ON or OFF my cellular connection, but problem still exist.

second, the battery usage time is increasing during sleep mode. this is the time where it's supposed to be increased when i turn my phone on and use it, not the standby time. the battery consumption during sleep is same as during awake. i have no idea what caused this, even if disabled background app refresh.

third, i can't receive notification from an app that is not launched for a long time. this happened on my wechat. it runs fine after i launched it.
*
Somehow, after the iphone if left idle too long with wifi connected, it will go into deep sleep and disconnects the wifi. Im not too sure if this is a bug or this is a function to save battery but it has been happening to me since iphone 5.

Yup.. iphone 7. It will transform into a small robot when you want it to. drool.gif

QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 18 2015, 11:41 PM)
So, if the phone turns off the WiFi automatically after being idle for some time, can you guys still receive messages via messaging services like WhatsApp and WeChat or Facebook notifications? I assume once WiFi is disconnected, mobile data will be up? unsure.gif
*
Correcto mundo. Most people wont notice as wifi will connect itself once u wake up the phone.

Got it. Now I know why some people say iOS drains data. laugh.gif
Not good for those having little data plan. sweat.gif

Anyway, I was close to purchasing an iPhone 6 Plus yesterday's evening. I checked out the stock availability at senQ Seremban 2 yesterday. Coincidentally it has the variant and colour that I want. Plus, it allows on the spot Maybank TreatsPoint redemption. Then the sales person continued, I cannot buy the phone the outright. I have to buy it bundled with packages, either with accessories or extended warranty. I said what kind of ruling is this I don't need all those. He said I must if I want to purchase from senQ.
OK lo, I guess it's pretty confirmed I won't be buying any iPhone at this moment, will wait till next generation.
*
QUOTE(fruitie @ Jan 19 2015, 10:27 AM)
Didn't check further because those ridiculous bundled packages just turned me off. shakehead.gif
*
QUOTE(THTgadgets.com @ Jan 19 2015, 10:29 AM)
What did they ask you to purchase? And what are the contents of these so-called packages? shakehead.gif

Never knew that SenQ has such a crazy ruling! doh.gif
*
Yes, this practice is quite rampant even among authorised Telco dealers. I was walking by one of the more established phone shops in 1Utama by the name of Dyna something, couldn't really remember the name. It is stituated just next to Guardian 1 Utama and I quite surprised they had Iphones for sale. When I look closer only I noticed the price quoted was different.

It was like Iphone 6+ 64GB + screen protector + casing = Rm3300.00.

So you had to buy the screen protector and casing as part of the package. I wonder who will buy now since authorized resellers has ready stock now. whistling.gif

new 6+ user here. is it advisable to turn on both wifi and data at the same time? or just on turn which one you want to use only? e.g. at home just turn on wifi only and when on the road just turn data only. thanks
*
I only turn on one which im using and off the other one to conserve battery.

Please sent to ur friends. Be aware with machine. They told me, this is exceptional case.

Then i sound to them, how can be exceptional. Every customer also will request for change if bought defect product.
*
You can actually make a report to the Consumer Tribunals for small claims like this. Just a note for you so that you know what to do next time rather than making a police report.

Exceptional case??? You told them they are lucky. If I was the one, I would have raised hell there and then if they do not replace another unit for me. That is why I always ask them to open up and inspect the unit first before I make my purchase. If they dont want to, I wont buy.

This is business ethics, how can you make a customer pay good money Rm3K++ for a defective product which is brand new and ask them to live with it? shakehead.gif

Why not? When the iphone 6 and 6+ launched in Singapore, I bought my iphone 6 and 6+ there. The Iphones are launched simutaneously at all Apple's first tier countries.

Thats why i told u they are stupid.. It very unfair to customer have to take the responsibility to buy the defect phone.
*
Another issue to take note, when you go and collect your phone, make sure its from an unsealed box like when you were buying new and insist they unseal for you on the spot. Do not accept if they give a a seed unit. A seed unit will come sealed too in a small box containing only the phone with is serial number sticker on the box.

QUOTE(THTgadgets.com @ Jan 20 2015, 12:43 PM)
Oh, so they do have their partner-resellers who can do such one-on-one exchanges then!

And I thought everything has to be done solely via the online method, with a courier guy picking it up from your place and sending the replacement later. biggrin.gif
*
Nope, you can send your Apple Store units back to authorized Apple service centres for warranties and repairs. I just got my Singapore Apple Store unit bought during launching at Singapore during September replaced 2 weeks ago by Mac City. thumbup.gif

But nothing beat the on the spot purchase experience. Hope more complaint are gathered to Apple so they will do some strict policy to make their reseller more efficient in handling such cases. Going back and forth to make claim is not something easy. Its frustrated , stressed and time consuming.
*
QUOTE(THTgadgets.com @ Jan 21 2015, 05:24 PM)
That's true, I have to agree. biggrin.gif

I do know that many Resellers offer great service, even if you didn't purchase anything in the end (Switch, Mac City, [i] Store, Mac Studio, and EpiCenter come to mind). But I never would have thought that such a reputable name as Machines can treat our friend mozact89 like that, being a first time iPhone customer and all! shakehead.gif
*
Agreed. I have always bought my Apple products from Mac City and I dont face any problems with their staff. The same could be said of the service department where they even replaced my Singapore Apple Store Iphone 6 for me. thumbup.gif

regarding the exchange, they will bring new unit to you and swap on the spot OR they take the defect unit first then come again bring the new unit ?
i would like to understand the process.

and one more thing, if cable issue also they will swap on the spot ? or they will ship new one without take the faulty unit ?
*
The courier company will come collect the phone while another one will deliver a new one to you. Usually they come collect first.

Now this is something new!

But when I bought my iPhone 6 from Singapore, was there any SIRIM sticker on the courier box (didn't really notice, to be honest). Other than the Model Number which has "MY" as the last couple of characters, how can I see that the iPhone is indeed a Malaysia-certified set, out of curiosity?
*
Apple would send you the Sirim sticker seperately after you received the phone. I experienced this everytime I buy from Apple Store My.
Just for the record, my Maxis set 6+ 64 GB Maxis set doesn't come with any sirim stickers. rclxub.gif
