thanks for the info interesting really curious how vintage black feels like ?i only tried reds
*
You can buy and try.
Hope you will appreciate the feel.
Veterans tried many switches before reach a conclusion it's the best for linear.

Although it's not recommended for newcomers to get vintage black directly.
It's same like Topre, if you get Topre at the beginning before you tried other tactile, you will think Topre is pretty normal feel.
So, will sell the Topre off at the end of the day.
And please don't get 55g in the beginning also, same story.

Start at level 1, end your game at level 100.
Need farming before you understand what is end game.
Get end game item at the beginning, you don't understand the passion behind keyboard.

Don't start your game at level 100, and get end game directly.
People won't jelly, just pity the great keyboard falls to the hand of sohigh ppl.

Sohigh ppl forever will marked as sohigh ppl.

It's just my humble advice for keyboard enthusiasts. nod.gif

Very nice scull, the color so vibrant.
Better than authentic 1 at least in terms of color matching. nod.gif

I'm not into bb/clacks thinggie,
but I always wonder, why not make own signature design if he/she has the mean to make one.
*
It's same reason as ppl buy branded products.
<<Why buy brand?>>
To satisfy psychology needs in terms of to show off and to feel need to feel important as well.

<<What motivates ppl buy fakes/counterfeits?>>
People want to have fancy things but can't afford them, or not able to get them even got money.
The demand are higher than supply.

So, if the branded products selling at unreasonable price after several mark up, then potential buyers will rage.
At the end, the potential buyer will become angry customer and ask the seller go fly a kite.
When fakes come in the system, the previous buyer will happy and willing to pay with reasonable price (without markup) to get the same design product of similar quality.

QUOTE
Example situation.

skull seller: WTS USD 200 for a keycap, do you interested?
potential buyer: You go fly kite lah. I go buy k3kc "I love keycap", cheaper.

P.S.: Piracy kills creativity. sad.gif

At the end, k3kc sell keycaps as expensive as the authentic skulls..
USD 27 for single pink color, USD 42 for tri-color.

This reminds me of Razer DeathAdder counterfeit products last time.
Selling at same price, but it's counterfeits, same look, same design.

Anyone here using kailh switch?

Is it okay to get it?

I'm looking for mech keyboard, cheapest and simplest one will do. No led are needed, can do if its tkl. Doesn't matter if it's kailh or cherry switches since people say there isn't much difference.

But must last a few years, I don't want to spend money on a board which will break down after 1-2 years.
*
If you want it lasts a few years, get a cherry. You will get the quality equivalents to how much you pay for.
Why you need a mechanical keyboard? to cure repetitive strain injury? to cure carpal tunnel syndrome?

Refer to pictures in the spoiler.
This year Razer intro new kibot called BWU 2014.

It looks exactly the same logo. So, Razer currently using (rebranded) Kailh switches instead of Cherry MX (Made in Germany).
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

So, whats so bad about this Kailh?
- Clone/Fake/Counterfeit of MX Cherry switches
- low quality, stems easily broken
- self-claimed can last longer than Cherry MX

Here is the link of imgur of kailh switches testing. yawn.gif
Very bad quality switches.

Razer also do not support standard layout, so, it makes finding after market keycaps set replacement is hard.

Piracy kills creativity. Buy original, buy Cherry.

Kthxbye.

disappointed they give so low just because of the software  hmm.gif software can be fix later on so i think they should not penalized so much on that
*
The low ratings because of the "stepped" colors and software.
They will fix it when they release the next keyboard.
So, in this corsair RGB, the software is not noob-friendly.
Not noob-friendly is death-penalty. sad.gif

i don't think i've seen MX White on any brands of mkb before tongue.gif

yes, if you are looking to change keycaps, pls avoid gaming keyboards.
if you aren't sure if the keyboard is standard layout or not, just ask over here.

and yes, ducky should be fine but over the last few months i've seen some reports of malfunctioned led.
so i'm not so quick to recommend ducky for now...but again, this is a minor issue.
*
KB Paradise V60 do offer MX White switches mkb. sad.gif
For TKL or 100%, I don't remember got any.

I believe they were referring to mx clear, there is confusion in wordings especially for Chinese manufacturers.

which is better between ducky zero, cm storm and rosewill rk-9000 quality wise?

Thanks. smile.gif

Seems like almost same exclude Rosewill. Rosewill has issue with weak USB connector.
You choose these 3 because of tight budget, right? sad.gif

QUOTE(Fizzy-Fiz @ Jan 8 2015, 04:28 PM)
does anyone knows where I can get a fc660c for the best price? elitekeyboards is out of stock and the best i could find is amazon.jp, which is a shame since its not so far off from hhkb pro 2 (i was given to understand that the leopold should be significantly cheaper)

i like the layout more than the hhkb (dedicated arrow keys + standard ctrl placement) which is no so important when typing reports but makes gaming and video and lightroom/photoshop much easier.
*
Internal domes, spring are all made by Topre Inc Japan.
The price are standard, among Realforce, Happy Hacking and FC660C. Just layouts are different.
I have Topre "Leopold" Realforce case, still the same pricing as the Topre Realforce itself. Very good build.

something like that, wanted to get a cheap entry level keyboard to try out 1st. smile.gif

so its between ducky or cm storm right? since rosewill has some issue.
*
Ducky Zero is nice. Got forummer bought and use until now, no problem.
If you try to get LED mechanical keyboard, be reminded that the LED will die earlier than the switch.
So, if you don't need LED, get a non-LED keyboard.
For non-LED, I will recommend Filco Majestouch 2. nod.gif

For entry level LED, then either CM Storm Quick Fire Rapid-i or Ducky Shine Zero. nod.gif

QUOTE(Fizzy-Fiz @ Jan 8 2015, 06:51 PM)
Yeah i forgot to convert, the price is similar with exception of vendor markup.

You sell hhkbs, where do you source them, japan? Mind sharing the process? I really think the fc660c is the perfect keyboard minus those 2 awful buttons
*
Source from Japan.
Why not just get a Topre Realforce 23U and a HHKB?
Seems you not like Leopold at all from what I read from your post.

Why actually you want a Topre?

so cm storm or ducky zero should be fine?

Ducky Zero will be fine. If you willing to top up, then Filco will be great.
So, depends on your budget...
CM Storm non-LED like Rapid and Stealth already EOL. sad.gif

My first keyboard also Ducky.

QUOTE(CAL V @ Jan 9 2015, 12:18 AM)
First time posting in mech kb thread... me --> noob so bear with any errors.

- initially got poisoned when someone talked abt custom korean kb, gatal2 wanted to try building myself one.
- cost very high, with tax and stuff can go beyond 1k+
- rethink about my situation and now sort of delay it to future.
- got idea fix what I have, a Razer BWU original.

- Problem with that BWU : 1) LEDs dying, at this time of typing this 5 LEDs are dead
                                      2) MX blue are noisy, wake up my mom easily at midnight
                                      3) Key switches felt inconsistent, like some have degraded after 3 years of use
                                      4) My sister complain kb like showing signs it is failing. Now I use laptop at college, basically my sis own that KB and pc d.  rclxub.gif
                                      5) Shiny acrylic top is fingerprint magnet, and it scratches.

- Ideas that have : 1) Buy new MX Brown switches, and change all the MX blues out
                            2) Change all the LEDs, maybe will change another colour, not sure. White?
                            3) Change out original spring to korean spring, I saw someone selling, but gold plated one don't have. sad.gif
                            4) Add stickers to the switch as well
                            5) Lube all the new switches
                            6) Either polish that shiny acrylic top piece to shine or sand it down and coat with plastidip
                          * seems like most parts can be obtained from lyn seller

- Why I do so : 1) Give me and my sister that smile when we type on it
                      2) Looks like a good weekend project (I think I can finish in one day)
                      3) Gain experience, have fun modding stuff, I like modding stuff  laugh.gif
*
Nice idea there, good for free time DIY project. rclxms.gif
