I'm experiencing this weird bass problem on my AKG. Last night I popped in Eva Cassidy's Songbird and the first song (#01 Fields of Gold), and the background acoustic guitars creates distortions especially when Eva is singing. It sounded as if my AKG's drivers failed to push air fast enough to keep in pace with the singer.
*
I sent PcWork this particular track, and we confirmed that the recording was bad. Distortions could be heard almost everywhere, and the weird bass problem was audible on PcWork's 890 as well. smile.gif

It's definately distortion due to some bad recordings or whatever. Running unamp easily spots them already.
*
smile.gif the prob is: my SR80 cannot spot these recording defects. This Eva Cassidy's Songbird used to be my "best" album in my collection sweat.gif

songbird, my lossless songbird is not only filled with distortion, its noise all the way. checked freq response, its has never been compressed before, so no mp3>lossless crack la.
*
So its bad recording? Her voice is sweet, but this particular track seems to be really bad sweat.gif

Shit? You call this a piece of shit? mad.gif

Oh well, my shit burns 24/7, everyday i'll off my LD for 2~3 hours. It doesn't consume much electricity anyway; i'm in front of my PC almost 20 hours/day working on VB.net, and my K701 keeps me occupied.

20 hours/day on computer? No need to sleep? How about your gf?
*
20 hours +/- la. Sometimes if i go out for more than 1 hour i'll turn my amp off. If i'm at home for sure my K701 will be fed with music.

Don't know its placebo or not; i don't feel anymore improvements to the SQ on my K701 already. Can it be considered as fully-burnin now?

nah i don't think the bass will improve a lot anymore. Marginal yes maybe. There's countless of threads in Headfi which complains the weak bass of K701, i guess nothing much can be done.

QUOTE(ijan @ Feb 7 2007, 10:35 PM)
IMHO, the k701 on my head with the amp on my table was plugged to an RS1 before. The RS1 has the impact, but it was like..example, 5V for 0.1ms while the k701 has 4.5V for 0.4ms. (exaggerated values maybe).

RS1 is dem fast, but in reality, no snares nor drums can hit that fast, real drums hit abit longer than that, but its no doubt FUN! but stronger, same concept as pulse, because its short it has more impact.

RS1 K701, about the same level of BASS if not the same, just the type of bass different.
*
Hmm if you want to describe the bass on both cans with voltage and duration, i would rate it as 5V, 0.1ms for the SR80 whereas 2V, 0.5ms for the K701. Figures are just estimates, i'll reconfirm this after my K701 turns 500 hours.

tongue.gif lolz Alamaklor = opposite of me. Canon 300D kit + BG-E1 vertical grip (RM2300), EF 50mm f1.8 II (RM350), EF 135mm f2.8 Softfocus (RM1200), EF 70-200mm f4.0 L USM (RM2800), Manfrotto monopod RM300. Total expenses excluding storage cards and Lowepro bag is already almost RM7000 sweat.gif

And compare my investment on my audio setup which is less than RM2000, audiophile is really nothing doh.gif
