tongue.gif since yeah_guyz posted some poison, i found one myself too.

Goodbye RS1

QUOTE(Nicecans@headfi)
I have not experienced the pleasure that is the RS1
but really enjoy my sr225 ALOT
however, when I go back to my K701 I am just floored
Incredible!

With the Grado's I can hear the metallic quality of the guitar stringsand it is is right there just outside my ear, I can see it!
But with the K701, I can see that plus the inside of the guitar
and hear the reverberations of the wood, I can smell it!

^ very bold statement, doesn't hold true to me.

how many sr80 u gave her? 2? tongue.gif

since u dunno how to 'appreciate' k701 to the fullest , i believe that there r a lot of ppl waiting for u throw it at the low price.. rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

tongue.gif its just not fully burn-in yet. Either my ears are starting to grow with my K701's sound signature, or its sound does change due to burn-in... god knows tongue.gif after 500 hours burn-in i'll do another comparison with the SR80.

tell you honestly, if i were to upgrade my Grado it will be:

SR80 -> MS2i -> RS1 -> GS1k

maybe i can just skip the MS2i and RS1... tongue.gif But now i had my K701 already, my journey for headphones gonna stop for some time i guess. This is the last semester for me, in 5 months time i'll be graduating and gonna start to fund for various stuffs like repay my study loan, insurance, house, car... marriage... Hopefully my headphone setup will last until i get married.

After marriage my headphone setup will be crucial. Before sleep must put on my headphones... so that i can't hear the baby crying in the next room laugh.gif My gf says she's gonna keep the SR80 also biggrin.gif

I'm experiencing this weird bass problem on my AKG. Last night I popped in Eva Cassidy's Songbird and the first song (#01 Fields of Gold), and the background acoustic guitars creates distortions especially when Eva is singing. It sounded as if my AKG's drivers failed to push air fast enough to keep in pace with the singer.

Then i let my headphones run through a whole night of sine wave sweep and it manage to reduce this distortion, but its still there though sad.gif gonna let it burn-in more.

p/s: my SR80 doesn't exhibit such distortion.

shocking.gif you guys won't believe this! Last night i downloaded the Edifier speaker burn-in tool, set a 20-20000Hz range and the sine-wave run for the entire night. This morning when i listen to my K701 it does show some improvements on the bass production. Its punchier.

Then i have class at 2pm, and i left my PC on while playing pink-noise on the Edifier burn-in tool. Come back at 5pm and holy cow, the bass is out! rclxm9.gif My test track is "Mario Winans ft. P.Diddy - I don't wanna know" and honestly its bass is still not as impactful as my SR80 but it certainly hit deep down.

Unfortunately the Eva Cassidy Fields of Gold track still show distortions. Gonna let it burn more. nod.gif

the distortion is prevalent to the K701, u can ask those who have k701.
*
sweat.gif what da hell... RM1400 for this kind of quality? Btw it only occurs in that particular track, and surprisingly burning-in with pink-noise helps to reduce it. Gonna let it burn longer and see nod.gif

days ago, me & pcwork chatting bout the Track06.. the aeroplane thing. Completely different description from both of us in SR60 vs HP890.

But i wonder this burnin tools could help me to improve my SR60. I had using SR60 for more than 2years liao..
*
smile.gif mind telling me the difference? Just curious. icon_rolleyes.gif

if you hear distortion on tracks that you have not previously heard, don't blame ur speaker/headphone...whatever you had probably wasnt good enough to show these flaws.
*
doh.gif Is this good or bad? My Eva Cassidy CD is imported version, original. That means the CD is of bad recording?

smile.gif I don't hear any distortion on my 金片子3, neither the SR80 or K701. I love the #07 情人的眼泪 the most, you can really feel deeply touched especially near the ending. Frankly, i never thought her voice is so friggin' good until i got my AKG.

nth major to talk bout. Haha..but not for tos freaking details pickers.

SR60 produces the plane fly over slower from the left and fade away earlier to the right. Means low sound hard to produce wif SR60.

eg HP890 oredi can hear the Vroom at duration 40sec.  SR60 can hear at duration 46sec.

And I cannot feel the plane flying to the middle of my headphone(or above my head). PCwork said his HP890 can feel the flying 'Vroom' over his head. (this one confirm no fly beyond my head)
*
smile.gif I'll post my own findings:

On my K701 i can hear the plane at 20s from the left driver, slowly move to the top then to the right. It sounded the loudest at 1:03s, and it went silent at 2:00s. I haven't test it on my SR80 though (not going to touch the Grado before 500 hours of burn-in.)

wow, 1:03s suppose to be the clearest for the airplane noise. Then at which interval you hear it the loudest dino? huh.gif

At 1:45s onwards will have the seagull making noise right? I still can hear the plane among the seagulls, after the seagulls part then the airplane is quite clear until 2:00s.

nope, haven't listen them on my SR80. I'm not going to put my SR80 on my head before my K701 has 500 hours of burn-in nod.gif

p/s: my place has even more airplanes in the sky. Malaysia Flight Academy (MFA) is just 2km from my house sweat.gif

At first I was having the same experience with yeah4.1, heard the aeroplane on 24th sec. But I am not happy with it sad.gif, how come my phones loses to Han's. smile.gif Unsatisfied, I cranked up the volume louder, now I heard it from 20sec. Guys, please turn to volume to max laugh.gif Careful the next song will burst your eardrums.  rclxm9.gif
*
tongue.gif Wahahaha, so kiasu meh? laugh.gif I guess your listening volume is lower than mine? My LD2+'s volume dial is at 1 o'clock to 3 o'clock, depends on the music. (My SR80 sits at 12 o'clock).

QUOTE(ijan @ Jan 31 2007, 10:01 PM)
holy crap..how loud do you ppl listen to ur headphones man?!?!?! I had to endure the track to listen to that..ergh..sakit telinga..

I had to adjust the volume pretty high (VERY HIGH)  till i can hear the aeroplane thingy, its like way way way beyond..my perception is, im submerged in water, my ears a just abit over the water..and the aeroplane passes by as far as the sky is..

i told walabies this track is freaking me cause i get goosebumps..rasa as if im about to be submerged by each of the incoming waves, mcm u dip ur head at sea, then got incoming wave that is sure to put ur head under it..
*
hmm.gif Strange, i auditioned the track #06 on both my SR80 and K701. On my SR80 it sounded as if the waves are just right under your neck. But for the K701 it sounded as if the waves are from my chest level. I guess the K701 gives a taller soundstage? And you don't need to crank up the volume to unbearable strength to be able to pick up the airplane. I just know that's an airplane flying as i'm already familiar with how it sounds (My house is near a flight academy).

sweet, honestly sometime we need to listen loud ..the quality only there
my Rm0.03 only, coz found that when listen low volume, like somthing is missing there
*
nod.gif i agree. High volumes tend to bring out more details, louder and stronger bass too! laugh.gif
