Hi guys, Happy CNY. Need to ask for a favor here.
Currently I'm facing this situation. Company A offered me a job and helped me apply for EP, it's approved. However, Company A told me they no longer need to hire new employee. Therefore, they withdrawn my EP application before I started to work there.
So now, Company B wanted to offer me a job, they will be applying EP for me again. My question is, will it affect the result of my second EP approval since my first one was withdrawn? Thanks  smile.gif

well, there isn't anything u can do with the withdrawn EP right?
u can raise your issue to MOM and see if they help you or not.

Obviously that's what i want, and obviously there were better ways and means of pointing out the "grey areas" of the post, which were obviously not the way you or anyone else wanted to use.

I highly doubt you wanted to help any "poor fellow" who was potentially (in your opinion) getting into an illegal trap, more like you wanted to seem like a "know-it-all" resider in Sg and wanted some kick from your midday in stirring some babble in this thread.

In any case, it's obvious that you couldn't get the glee of staining me and an illegal sub-letter, and it is also obvious that I couldn't get the benefit of obtaining a tenant from this "helpful" home-thread designed to supposedly help those already in Sg or those wanting to get into Sg.

So whoopee and yippee to all and none alike.
*

Obviously that's what you think, and obviously there were better ways and means of responding to the accusations because of the lack of information provided, which were obviously not the way you wanted to use.

I highly doubt you wanted to clarify the stand until accused, more like you wanted to the room rented out with no strings attached ASAP and wanted some kick from your midday in stirring some babble in this thread.

In any case, it's obvious that you couldn't get the glee of renting out the vacant room instantly, and it is also obvious that we couldn't get the benefit of helping "ppl who really needed help"

So whoopee and yippee to all and none alike.

My situation:

1. started working for 4 days (still no S pass card)
2. medical reports (Raffles) still yet to be received, 6 working days already
3. white card due 9th March (and i have used up like 5x/60 days limit)

i consulted HR and she didn giv clear answer but just 'hope' i can get medical report nxt week, and she told me i cant get extension if i hit the 60 days limit.

any advice i can possibly extend? =/
*

my advise would be to call up ICA
they will be able to gif u the exact reply.
unless anyone of us here faced the exact same situation as u did, we can only speculate.

Hi guys, I have issue with rental and lease agreement in singapore. Seeking for advice from anyone experienced the same or have knowledge in this aspect.
I first sub-leased a common room from a couple under a Sub-lease Agreement. After 6 months, this couple left the country and before they left, they sub-lease their room to another couple and got their deposit back from the landlord.

Since then, the landlord is the one in charge but we did not have any new agreement to 'transfer' my sub-lease to main lease. All the terms in my sub-lease agreement are directly towards the Primary Tenant.

So now I decided to move out due to the Landlord wants to increase my rent $100 starting march (our lease ends in May). And I have found someone to replace my tenancy. Question is, what kind of lease agreement should this new tenant sign? a sub-lease with me as primary tenant (landlord registered me as Main tenant) or a lease directly between landlord and the new tenant?
*

sorry for my dumb question
why do u need to find a replacement tenant?
isn't serving notice enough?

She said she is the landlord, she can do watever she wants. If I got problem I can refer to her lawyer.
She requested me to pay for the increased rental or moved out. If I moved out I must find replacement as per contract stated otherwise I have to pay the rent for the rest of the lease period.
I know she has no right to raise the rent but tbh in Singapore tenancy agreement never protects the tenant and authorities are always on Landlord's side. I am a foreigner and I don't want to take risk if i can just move out and find replacement.
*

erm...if she can hold the contract valid to ask u to find a replacement, why can't u do the same to prevent the increase in rental until may and move out then?
u do not have an agent on ur side? engage them, u paid them commission to help u when shyt like this happens.

If you can afford it, definitely should take flight back and forth kl-sg
I've been working here a while and never took the bus, maybe coz I still have that malaysian thinking that buses sucks big time.

Anyway, would definitely try it out someday too though. Peak hours and public holidays should take you 2 hours across the causeway, immigration included.

I would like to suggest you to take flight back to KL because it is waste of time Q ing at CIQ and inhale bad smoke while Q ing up in Bus platform .
Nowadays, flight ticket are damn cheap plus save a lot of time to reach your destination.
Good luck ..

Oo  wow nice to know there are parents here like me.  Congratz Fiona.  First recruit?  Just to share. My daughter experience her first 2 years of kindergarden in Singapore and i can assure you it is totally worth it.  She can speaks English pretty confident now and very good in expressing herself to the public.  Which i find quite different from other children in Malaysia.  I also notice different childcare comes with different quality.  I was on a one year waiting list for the childcare near my hdb which cost 1k compared to 650 from the other one.  I only want it cause it is just below my hdb but i always wonder why so expensive yet why is there a 100 people waiting list.  When my daughter did gets in in k1  i realized the level of education is totally another level and i like how they always talk to us in preparing us for her primary schooling.

I will be bringing my 2 months baby there next month.  80% of the infant care in my area are fully booked.  I might need to resort to nanny if i cannot get one.  It is not cheap for a foreigner like me there.  The monthly cost of infant care alone is 1800++ excluding milk etc.  Any tips for me?
*

for infants, nanny would be a better option budget wise
my dotter is still with the nanny since she was 3 months until now 20 months
a good nanny is not easy to find, u need luck. laugh.gif laugh.gif
infant care requires early queueing....some even before the mother is pregnant. sweat.gif sweat.gif

i dont intend to check in though, cos it's a 23" tv lol. thought of just carrying it on board.
used = it's been with me for a year + now.

was looking at this though? : https://www.iras.gov.sg/irasHome/page04.aspx?id=10836
not sure if it's relevant lol.

plus, how do i prove that it's less than 400sgd? do i have to have a receipt? the tv was given so i don't have proof of purchase anymore sad.gif

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Apr 19 2015, 02:21 PM)
carry on board ??? a 23" TV is at least 60cm minimum with the shell. With packaging that's at least 62cm. I have never come across any aircraft which gave such a huge allowance for check in carry on luggage.Maybe can just make the cut coz since TV size are measure diagonally.

look at AirAsia one for example:

[attachmentid=4417599]

i brought my lcd monitor (23") by flight (AA) about 3 years ago from penang
Hand carry.
I detached the stand and put it in my luggage.
The screen part was put into the bag which comes with bedsheet, then inside an Ikea blue canvas bag. laugh.gif laugh.gif
I doubt it can fit the overhead compartment but I did not even bother trying back then.
I just left it on my seat with my back against it and buckled up.
No one bothered to bug me.

Hello everyone!

I have a dilemma here. I couldn't decide which Singapore or Malaysia used car to buy and start my journey as Sales Engineer in Tuas, Singapore. I have a few options came into my mind...

1. Stay in Singapore and buy a Singapore used car to drive? PARF or COE car??
2. Stay in JB and buy a Malaysia used car travel in and out everyday through 2nd link?
3. Any more option? (Please specify)

Which one is more cost effective? By the way, my new employer is giving me $500 car allowance and $350 petrol allowance.

Best Regards,
Jasmine

I had just cancelled my EP and my short term visit pass is coming to an end. I am still seeking new employment at the moment but have yet to found 1.

My questions is, how long can i stay in singapore with the white card(embarkation card)? From what I came across, maximum is 90 days but usually the immigration give 30 days.

Let's say for worst case I still haven't been able to secure a job/company that I wanted, can i just go to JB and get a new white card for another 30 days stay? Again, some say can while others you say need to leave SG for at least 5 days?

Your replies/assistance are much appreciated.
*

for white card, it is every 90 days, u can only be in SG for 60 days (unless they changed the rule, this is what i know from experience)
but u were on EP previously, and last i remember is after cancellation of EP, you only have 30 days (assumption).
if by the rule of 60/90....u will have to leave SG for 30 days.
best to call ICA to clarify.

Yea, i had the short term visit pass for 30days after EP cancellation. However, i had surrender the short term visit pass even before 30 days (to be exact, i stayed for 23 days already) as it is compulsory when you are leaving singapore. I went back my hometown for the long weekend and will be back to SG tml. So am wondering the validity period of my stay tml using white card.

I understand the need to secure a new job during the transition, however, sometimes things doesn't go the way you wanted.. sad.gif
*

then immigration will tell u how long u can stay when u reenter
even if u write 30 days but u can only stay 7 days, they will cancel off your 30 and most likely write a 5 (need buffer) and inform u

Is license issued from JB able to extract information from other states like KL? Cause now I'm in dilemma, my father told me that if illegally that will be RM400+, which is absurb, and if official will be just RM10+ but it will remove the Malaysia License. My question is, is it essential to have Malaysia license be voided once I have license in Singapore? It doesn't make sense if one day i gave up the PR and license that bond to that PR will eventually be voided, ended without having any license at all. This is something quite serious in the future and may need to take the practical exam again.  ohmy.gif  ohmy.gif  ohmy.gif
*

JPJ jb and JPJ in all other states issue the letter just the same.
Just JB has a special counter for all this, from what I heard.
In penang, you just join the general queue and wait for your turn.
Do note that you will require an officer to sign on that extract.
Last I heard, SG no longer accept "This is a computer generated slip and no signature is required" or something similar anymore.

guys, just secured a room nera Queenstown but without internet.
can recommend what kind of plan should i go for? normal broadband or fibre or wifi hotspot?

i also might need to apply postpaid number, any combo plan with broadband as well?

do i need to have employment pass card issued first before i can apply those?
*

if u renting, dun go fibre
if u move within ur contract period, good luck to u as there is a "relocation charges" cause they need to close ur current port and open a new one which costs a few hundred bucks
if u wan landed line, then cable broadband by starhub will do as u change address, no fees (u dun tell them also like tat...can still work)
and i think u need the pass first as they will check ur pass expiry (< 6 months expiry either pay more or not allowed...i cannot confirm)

Ya i did check on myrepublic and know that they offer 2 months free, but all their contracts are long and i'm not sure if i will stay that long in sg or not, so most likely can't stick with myrepublic.
The contractless is quite expensive at $70.

I'm more interested on M1 100Mbps 12months contract plan at $40 now as I don't really need that high speed.

The myrepublic, can i subscribe free 2 months trial then change to contractless $70?
And how to check if my place got available fiber spot? I just go to M1 or Myrepublic site and enter the address, and it said i'm eligible

Your place having fibre port or not is one thing.
